I may not have agreed with his personal behavior, but his music was fire.

This is one song that helped me through boot camp. When some tough shit came around, I would play this song in my head (along with a few others). That beat...dun unt, dun unt, dun unt...

Said it in another thread but I will say it here in the memorial thread too.

Rest in Peace DMX. Thanks for the memories and we will see you again sometime.

in my city, this song being played on the PA at hardcore shows was the signal to start stomping the shit out of the metal kids. good times man.

I don't think this crossover has been posted:

"How many times do I have to tell you rap niggas I have no friends?"

This fucked me up really bad. Grew up with this shit rocking in alleys and laundry mats in Chicago. This is what we got down to, played SFIV in the back of the pizza place to, what we graduated from middle school to, what our neighborhood bbq’s blasted with their dank ass speakers.

This man was the backlight to my childhood, and now he’s moved on to the next streets. Rest in Power.

Have any cancel attempts been made over his more spicy opinions yet?
DMX is an example of what happens when you just openly say "yes I hate fags and trannies, that is my opinion". Everyone knew that from the outset, and still bought his records. You can't really "cancel" him after that.

I met him a few times, he seemed like a genuinely good guy even if he had his demons. He always gave a firm handshake and looked you in the eye as if you were his equal, even if you were just some stoned teenager. It was kind of surreal. RIP King.

He died the same day as Prince Philip. I'm not too sad because he was a homophobic animal abusing tax evading deadbeat dad, but I was pretty sad about DMX
