Never heard of him--apparently he must have produced something worthwhile judging from y'all's reaction: but dying of a drug overdose at 50?

Damn that's almost as bad as Tom Petty becoming addicted to heroin at 60ish as I recall.
Yes. yes it is. But DMX is a cautionary tale on what happens when you have everything and then he does the stupid of every ghetto minded person. Examples for him are:

1. 15 kids with 9 different women.
2. Bankruptcy 3 times.
3. The dude was in jail 30 TIMES.

He made his own life. He decided to throw away all of his hard earned money for the thug life. And now he is dead.

This is the difference between Jay-Z and himself. The entire mindset of the Black Community is all about the hustle and nothing else at all. Jay-Z was smart enough to get out of that mindset and use his millions in investing in himself as well as his career.

This guy did have talent. But he thought just like so many people regardless of the color of the skin.

The thought that the party will never end. Hell I thought the party would never end until I got bitch slapped by a fucking cruel world and got my act together

But as I have stated before:

DEATH is easy... LIFE is hard... And it gets HARDER when you grow older.

I think what happened is the fucker boned himself by doing the stupid once again. NOT PAYING HIS TAXES. Had to pay the government 2.29 million and serve 1 year in jail. This happened in 2017.

When you are a old man blow all of your money by making mistakes, in his case he went go back to your crutches of the ghetto life.

He's a known addict. And I think he OD'ed on some bad shit to try to drown out the misery that he made for himself. So the hustle and going for "the score" of the ghetto lifestyle claimed another talented life.

And that's a damn shame because his music was good, but that is the life of being in the Ghetto. That mind set for many, never really goes away.

From what I remember, he had schizophrenia and some other lesser mental issues.
Some of those mental issues translated into good art and he made some real bangers.
However, I always knew that his death won't be pleasant.
He still managed to get past 50, get rich, and make stuff that will be remembered long after he's dead, that's pretty good for a basket case from the hood.
the dude was addicted to coke at 14 because of a prank performed by his former mentor. that definitely spawned a lot of mental issues.

It’s a double edged sword. The “hard life” he had probably inspired him to continue making the songs that are enjoyed today. Perhaps as aspect of his life was to be perpetually in the shit. The real question is what did Aayliah know.
