Watched the Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition's trailer E3 on FB2Mate's post, I think it will become a huge boom. Let's imagine, playing it on 4K monitor, incredible, right?

For games like Mirror’s Edge it was fine because they did it by choice.
That wanted to tell a story with a woman.
I played it and I love the original to this day.

But same with Star Wars you just know it’s to fill out checkboxes because they heard feminists want to ban white males.


The irony is that people who portray women as these brute role models nowadays are sexist as fuck.

Because femininity is the weapon of the woman.
That way you undermine their natural advantages and force them into men.

Women can achieve much more in life by just being cute, charming and warm.

Just reskin your male models and give them longer hair and a higher pitched voice.

I wonder how many times they've restarted the development based on focus group tests. Everytime they show some new footage at E3 it looks like another game. The same thing is happening to Skull & Bones that went from being the naval parts of AssCreed Black Flag to a reskin of For Honor with boats.

What the fuck...

Punisher Mode? Ghosts? Awful VO? AND they followed through with changing the combat system in the worst way? No thanks.

I wonder how many times they've restarted the development based on focus group tests. Everytime they show some new footage at E3 it looks like another game. The same thing is happening to Skull & Bones that went from being the naval parts of AssCreed Black Flag to a reskin of For Honor with boats.

Honestly? Probably not that much. Ubisoft has a tendency to only reveal stuff when it's about to come out but those projects are hidden behind the scenes for years. BG&E2 didn't do that, and like FF7R or SMT5 they revealed it when the project was only being greenlit internally. A lot of the changes seem to be story based rather than gameplay wise, but these changes are common in any major project.

The lack of gameplay and focus on cinematic trailers this year is really annoying and quite boring. I nearly fell asleep waiting for DOOM Eternal during the Bethesda conference last night.

I'll throw in that they'll talk about the new Nintendo games and the Smash DLC character they're announcing, too, but this E3 has been so unimpressive. Nothing but shitty mobile games and cinematic trailers followed by "if you want gameplay go try the game at our booth". I thought it was brave of Bethesda to show that much Doom Eternal gameplay, then realized how dumb I sounded.

Here I thought the Xbox One reveal was the worst E3 could get. Of course it wasn't, because it's Current Year.

Yeah, this E3 has been really kinda painfully bog standard of an E3. Feels like companies A) don't want to try and do anything creative; and B) Trying to appeal to the woke crowd which invariably means being as safe, bland, and inoffensive as possible. So far, no earth shattering reveals and nothing that wasn't already predicted or leaked.

EA's conference managed to find the perfect blend of milquetoast and cringe-worthy, with it's highlight being Fallen Order, but even then you can't say much other than, "Yup, that looks like an adequate videogame, based on a franchise which leaves a bad taste in most of the old fanbase's mouths."

Microsoft was decent enough, but again outside of Keanu Reeves and Cyberpunk 2077, there was nothing else that was astounding. Waaay too many cross promotions. The biggest reveal was a fricking game based on the "Blair Witch" franchise. Some of the indie titles looks alright, I guess, and good to know I get to play the Outer Worlds for free* when it releases. Otherwise, I feel like I've seen the same show back in 2018 and 2017.... maybe 2016 too.

Worst offender though was Bethesda. The schmaltzy "interviews" and the vacuous presenters were bad enough, but they just had to keep turning the screws. Hey old gamers, remember Commander Keen? We've mutated him into a F2P mobile game! Wolfenstein? Well, we don't want to continue BJ's story, depsite him being the main lead since the series' inception - instead here are his daughters in power armor in the 1980s. Oh, you like Elder Scrolls? Here's 10 minutes on the busted-ass mobile game and the card game no one plays! And don't worry Fallout fans, we hear you... and we're making things better with BATTLE ROYALE!! Outside of Doom Eternal, the only other highlights were fucking CGI trailers for game we probably won't even see gameplay for until this time next year. Fuck.

And Devolver... well Devolver was fine. It was less than a half hour and was able to balance the snark with nods to Robocop, Terminator, and Brazil. Plus the games actually look fun which, y'know, should kinda be whole fucking point.

I have watched every single e3 show since they started streaming it. This is easily the most lukewarm ever. Which is bad, I would rather watch something on the level of the 2010 konami conference then what we got yesterday. Today does not look much better since the final fantasy 14 live letter is on friday, so the only thing to expect is MAYBE a ff7 gameplay demo in the SE conference. Bethesda show was ESPECIALLY bad because they swept their past year under the rug.
