Okay, been watching the Sony booth livestream and picked this up.

Sony is actually assisting in the production of Shenmue 3 and have been actively talking to Yu Suzuki since last year. It's still being done via third party, hence the PC release.
The Kickstarter is essentially a "put your money where your mouth is" exercise, to gauge interest.

Looks like we're getting the Shenmue 1/2 movie, and Deutsch subtitles.

People are saying that Square Enix won E3. How? Did they fall asleep during it and dream a better one?
I can bet you that whoever said that, they're a weeaboo. I mean, with them announcing a FF7 Remake, A new Star Ocean, a new Nier game, and finally showing some more about Kingdom Hearts 3, I'm sure that made many a anime nerd's jimmies feel a little tingly.

Overall, today's E3 conferences were kind of meh to disappointing.

This Nintendo was not their worst (that still goes to Nintendo E3 2008.), but they are definitely working on something. This E3 for Nintendo felt more like a courtesy conference, "Yeah, we're cleaning up the WiiU clusterfuck... here you go. Have some 3DS games." Very VERY little support for the WiiU shown in comparison to the 3DS, which pretty much telegraphs they're planning on dumping it within a year or two.

Square-Enix was interesting for me because there were about four games I wanted to play (Hitman, JC3, TR, and Deus Ex), but yeah the conference was... lacking. Compared to the previous conferences, this felt a lot smaller and a lot less polished than any of the other 3rd party companies. Some may argue it had a cozier feeling to it, but for me, it felt like they pulled it together in the last minute. And i don't know about anyone else, but from where I was streaming it from (YouTube) the audio was really poor.

Really this year I cannot say there was a definitive "winner" (although I am fairly certain most will agree is there was a last place, that would easily go to EA). It all depends on what you're looking for to:

Microsoft had the "jump forward" mentality and was reinforcing the idea (emphasis on "idea") of supporting their audience, and also making a lot of effort to make the XBone a decent gaming platform. This conference was also one of their most well organized and didn't meander off-topic. However, saying it is one thing- implementing it is another. Microsoft has at least crawled mostly out of the smoking crater they made two years ago, but the after effects still run deep. They're on the right path, but they have a long road to go to make consumers fully trust them again.

Sony had the idea of "Gamer dreams do come true" and either announced or revealed 3 games that gamers have been clamoring about for years. The conference structure was much like the last two - if it isn't broken, don't fix it. However, the entire conference was lost in a haze of nostalgia and is pretty hollow when you look at it- FF7 remake was just an announcement. Remember how long between the initial FF13 reveal trailer came out and when people could actually play the game? Lost Guardian is cute, but it doesn't show much of anything other than a few jumping puzzles and a "move the crate" puzzle. And Shenmue was a Kickstarter announcement.

And Bethesda, while still my favorite, I will admit was essentially a conference for Doom and Fallout 4, with a handful of other games sandwiched in between. All I really wanted this E3 was Fallout 4, so for them to reveal gameplay, and looking like they're adding a lot more to the existing model AND announce it will be in my possession before Thanksgiving was fantastic.

And just so I mention them as well... Ubisoft was a conference. It wasn't a bad one, but it wasn't anything phenomenal either. It was the conference equivalent of a standard fast food cheeseburger. Nothing really stood out, but at the same time, nothing all too objectionable either. The main issue I had was that a LOT of the games relied on co-op mechanisms, which is fine and all, but sometimes I just want to play a game where I only have to rely on myself and not have to make into a group event and/or trust strangers.

My question to the thread however, what do you think was the most awkward part of the conferences this year? I'm putting my vote towards "Storytime with Pele."

Meme time with #Girlwood. That poor fucking cosplayer.

In other news, PC Gaming show starts in 30 minutes...I'm praying that it's not as bad as the EA and Ubi show. I heard Nintendo was bad, but all I saw of that show was people dressed up as Mario dancing and singing.

I'm taking notes right now. Will shitpost them here later.

Anytime #Girlwood appears on stage you know you're going to be in for some cringe and awkward. She is the embodiment of an out of touch payed spokesperson.

Rising Storm 2 fucking hype. Finally get to go to Vietnam.
Star Citizen fails to impress me again though. I really have no idea what's going on with that game and I get more and more confused the more I hear.
Everything is okay so far. I haven't decided on whether I like the host or not, but he is leagues better than Mr. Caffeine and Aisha

I'll admit: while I'm intrigued about the FFVII remake, I really don't have much faith. Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus were both so fucking terrible they convinced me nobody currently at Square has any idea why FFVII worked. Hell, I'm pretty much certain Nomura just got lucky back in the day. Graphics were too primitive for people to notice how awful his character designs would get when he was allowed to work with real detail.

Plus, it's a pre rendered trailer. Which means: a) nothing we see has any relation to the current product, b) for all we know it could take a decade before the game is ready, and c) by the time Square starts revealing actual content, there's every reason to expect they'll prove every negative assumption I have right. None of these are reasons to be optimistic.

jUST....f isnished... PC... confrrrreence.....

Confirmed: EA conference WASN'T the worst conference.... this was TWO AND A HALF HOURS OF FUCKING.... TALKING.
And now, my final E3 sperging notes post... this one on PC.

--Awesome intro reflecting newer and older PC titles.

--Smaller stage, but set up kind of like a Late Night talk show a la Letterman.

--First game to be discussed is Killing Floor 2. "First game to be talked is nothing but blood and violence. I can barely even look at the screen!"

Host states watching the blood and gore everywhere is hilarious. And immediately the SJWs have swarmed onto Twitter.

--NEW GAME - Tripwire games making Rising Storm 2: Vietnam.

--Next is Star Citizen. Video of the studio's director showing off the MoCap technology they're using.

--Richard Huddy of AMD arrives. Hyping up the new AMD video cards. Also arrives with a large metal box... WHAT'S IN THE BOX HUDDY? WHAT'S IN THE BOX!?

Back to games... only 22 minutes in and talked about two games... starting up again with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Basically repeating the information given during the Square Enix conference.

Showing off environments in the game. Gets a bit obsessive about cucumbers.

FINALLY showing some gameplay. Looking good. Also looks like they fixed the augment bar so you could do two special attacks before needing to eat a power bar.

Total War: Warhammer trailer. Uses the same Lorde song Assassin's Creed Unity used. Any case awful cover of a song.

Xbox's Phil Spencer takes the stage. Admits that Microsoft has at times "lost their way" with PC gamers. No shit.

Killer Instinct coming to the PC, will be able to crossplay with the XBone.

And now they're trying to hype Fable Legends. will be crossplatform as well. Are people still excited for this game?

Talking to James Finney for new game gigantic- was first featured at Xbox conference yesterday. Detailing more about the game. Sounds like a Team Fortress-esque game, with each team has their own guardian (giant ass dragon, griffin monster, etc.). goal of the game is to kill other team's guardian.

Rod Fergusson of the Coalition shows up. Gears of War Ultimate Edition will be on PC. Console will have 1080p, but PC will be 4K. For... gears of War. Mmkay.

AMERICAN TRUCK SIMULATOR HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED!!! GAME OF THE YEAR!!!!

Ryan Geddes CCP Game explains to us how VR with EVE: Valkyrie will work.

Dean Hall of RocketWerkz says Steam's refund system is a good thing. SHOTS FIRED.

Host says blocking people on Twitter isn't cool. SHOTS FIRED AGAIN.

Pillars to Eternity Exspansion - The White March.

David Braben takes the stage... and instead of sitting down, he awkwardly starts talking at the other end of the stage.

New indie looking game. Never thought I'd see a game reveal using a Lady Antebellum song for their trailer. Announces "Planet Coaster." Looking like Roller Coaster Tycoon for hipsters.

Guild Wars 2 next. Open Beta available for new exspansion is available now.

Hitman presentation the mic doesn't work. Host handles it like a boss. Game is based like Blood Money with sandbox gameplay, but with Absolution's graphical fidelity. No checkpoints.

Lisa Su, AMD's CEO arrives the stage. Shows off a dual VG CPU card.

--Called away from my PC - missed the Boehmia Interactive portion.

More discussion about Beyond Eyes.... and looking at the time, this conference has been going on for almost two hours... was the conference supposed to go this long?

Steve Gaynor talks about Tacoma, his follow-up from Gone Home. Can't give a straight answer about anything. Epect this to not be a walking simulator but more a hover around simulator.

SOMA on the stage. Gameplay to ask all the tough questions, as all games based deep under the sea should. And the video shows us literally nothing except a dark figure in a darkened hallway. Yay.

More DayZ discussion. I would have thought PC gaming being as big as it is, they wouldn't have two chunks for DayZ and one for Arma 3.... just saying.

Cliffy B has taken the stage. Immediately starts talking about butt divets in cushions. Then talks about being old because he's almost 40 and I want to punch him in the throat.

.....show is now two hours long... I am struglling to even care anymore...

Heroes of the Storm expsansion detailed. Imagine the Smash Bros for Blizzard games.

FINAL GAME.... and it's No Man's Sky. Sorry Half Life 3 hopefuls. You're a delusional lot anyway. Seriously, I'm holding my judgement until I can actually play the fucking game.

THIS SHOW IS 2 1/2 HOURS LONG. WHY.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK.....

2 and a half hours of fucking pure disappointment and the host playing with my fucking heart
"Fans have asked for this series to come to PC and here it is...KILLER INSTINCT!"
Not Halo? Is this a fucking joke? Holy shit, they built up so much fucking hype. That got me so damn mad I wanted to strangle Phil Spencer. Doing a great job at listening to demand right there Microsoft.
There was a decent amount of cringe too. That LONG, HORRIBLY AWKWARD pause during the Planet Coaster announcement. Holy shit thank God Plott broke the fucking ice fast. That moment where the Paradox dev tried to shake hands with Plott like 4 times, but the Obsidian dev kept moving in the way. That absolutely glorious mic failure for the new Hitman.
So overall I was more disappointed with this conference than anything else. For a fucking PC-oriented conference, they had no idea what PC gamers wanted. Or maybe PC gamers do just want VR and MOBAS.

Personally, I'm not even gonna bother thinking of Half Life 3 as a possibility until VR headsets have a decent enough market penetration. It's not even like waiting for DNF. That game was actually announced.

If I had the capability to give you an "Agree" rating made out of diamonds, I would fucking give it to you right now.

I mean... HOLY FUCKING SHIT WHAT WAS THAT. I have to apologize to EA and Pele now. When he went off on a tangent for five minutes, I thought that was bad. Then I watched this conference... I'm pretty sure out of that 2 1/2 hours, maybe half an hour was either footage of a game or a trailer, the rest was just talking. Yeah, it's nice to hear from the developers... but not when you're supposed to be showcasing your goddamn wares.

And boy howdy, what amazing wares did they have... repeats from previous conferences, DayZ TWICE and a bunch of early access games or games that only exist in a trailer. Seriously, out of that entire time, how many game demonstrations were there? TWO?!

Only saving grace was that the host was able to adapt and tried to liven up the show. But you could tell he was struggling at times.

Man... fuck that show.

I was honestly in denial for after fucking Phil Spencer announced Killer Instinct for PC. At the beginning I thought it possibly couldn't be worse than EA's show or Ubi's. They announced Rising Storm 2, showed off the cool as fuck gore system for KF2, generally good shit. Then came Phil with his complete lack of interest in anything going on and announced KI for PC.
Well...surely they'll have one of the guests for Microsoft bring out something interesting?
Nope.
Well the guests are done, but Phil is still on stage! Maybe he'll announce Halo, they can't possibly have him on stage for no reason!
Nope.
Then the next two or so hours composed of VR, live demos of fucking indie games, and AMD GETTING IT DONE. And they ended the show with No Man's Sky. Out of all the fucking things to end a show with, why No Man's Sky? Why was Valve not there at all? Where was the PC gaming part of that conference? God dammit, that was horrible. I think it's finally sinking in how bad that conference was.

Personally, I find Aisha funny most of the time. But her humor and the awkward gamers and game developers just are incompatible, and it's fucking hilarious when she jokes around with them and the guys are being extremely awkward and thinking "OMG A WOMAN WHAT DO I DO?!".

Not gonna lie, I should hate Aisha Taylor, but i kinda like her. I dislike this trend in gaming media of getting an attractive woman to present news because nerds dig chicks and games, but she carries herself really well and is actually a good presenter regardless of the setting.
Plus, she is actually a gamer.

Maybe it's just that she's a counterpoint to the stuffy suits and terrified games developers on in the other conferences.

Don't say that, I was so excited... *SIGH* You are probably right, though. AC and DoC were pretty awful.
