Didn't see a thread here yet, but i'd rather start one now rather than on release. I personally feel this will be a shit game. not for any particular reason. It just feels like its going to suck. between the delays and articles coming out and them taking out most of Avellone's work. i just feel it won't be good whatsoever.

It feels like we haven't gotten a great game in the last 6 years. and i don't think this will break that cycle

The first dying light was cool until you got to that first faction and the dude explains “ur like a slave to corporations” and you become a simp to a girl or something
Wait thats what they were talking about I've played through the game 5 times and I just tune out

So which ending is going to be canon? The vanilla game's ending, the nuke-everything ending, or the escape-and-become-an-even-bigger-monster-than-any-you-fought-before ending?

I'm hoping the latter. Techland dropped hints that the protag from the first game may return (which he would have to be the Night Stalker if that were the case).

Anyway, I'm actually fairly excited for this, was a fan of the original when it first realized in 2015, and it seems like Techland (along with most Eastern European devs) haven't succumbed to "modern" gaming trends (minus shitty dlc practices).

I'm betting the story will be at least as shit as it was in the first one, with lots of telling and very little showing.
Hopefully they'll get rid of breakable weapons, because it's already bad enough having a Diablo loot treadmill when my fucking crowbars snap in half every other fight like they were made in motherfucking China.
If we're lucky, we'll get the same "story is shit, gameplay is serviceable" product as the first one.

Absolutely the "Crane was to scared and selfish to fucking kill himself" wet fart ending because he nuked himself otherwise, and we can't have a sequel game in Current Year +(N) without using the previous player character as tired nostalgia bait or a zombie game that doesn't bang on and on and motherfucking on that hUmAnS aRe ThE rEaL mOnStErS!!1!!

The game looks kind of empty during the day compared to the first one. I know they are going with "The Followings" Volatile Nest thing where most of the zombies hide during the day inside buildings and come out at Night. Just not sure if its going to be a zombie playground like the first one with the set up like that.

the main problem is they specifically said they're not doing the Zombie playground bullshit this time around, basically think about this being New Vegas compared to the original dying light's fallout 3. its not a skip the bullshit quests/dialogue and just kill baby kill. only a minority of gameplay will be classic ethnic cleansing. now they're mainly focused on questlines and factions and bullshit like that. sort of like how NV wasn't a kill-a-thon like 3, and most quests were solved without even using weapons.

I hope they drop the whole Diablo numberslol system, but that's pretty :optimistic:

The system felt superfluous since fighting zombies with melee weapons always feels the same; you just slap them around like you're beating fish with a wiffle bat until your stamina bar is empty or their head unceremoniously explodes. And besides, do you really need a stat screen to tell you that a sledgehammer is more damaging than a rusty pipe?

Sadly, the only way this won't end in disaster is if the team working on this secretly have the kind of writing chops that New Vegas' team did.

It just makes me miss braining zombies with cinder blocks and juice boxes back in Dead Island. I guess they did at least try to make beating the shit out of zombies with your bare hands an option with the prestige system or whatever that was, but I think you already needed to have hit max level on one of the trees or something - it's been a dog's age since I bothered to play Dying Light and that system wasn't in when it released.

After all these years of delay at the last second Dying Light 2 will be using Denuvo as a 3rd party DRM.
Fucking kek.

Dying Light 2 trailer came out
MeToo Scandal & Avellone´s story was thrown out
Dying Light 2 finally does come trailer
Denuvo DRM
Game had been ressurected once only to be killed a second before it´s release.

That´s peak poetry at this point.

It's the pettiest reason ever, but I already can't stand this game due to its tagline, Stay Human, being fucking plastered over every advert. Makes it seem real haughty and up itself.

I did love the first game, mind.

Ehhhhh, I bet it has a double meaning where the MC has some of the Zombie virus in him giving him some abilities and trying not to turn is gonna be apart of the story. That and don't turn into a monster while dealing with the other survivors.
