I wonder who thought that it was a good idea to have no guns in the game.
Thank god Dead Island 2 didn't make that mistake.
i mean there is a gun sort of. really shitty limited ammo gun you get later in the game im sure you can use a trainer on to make it more usable, but one nonetheless. also there's bows and crossbows in the game i think.
plus melee and bows in an game like this is fine even if its zombies. literally any medieval set game does that and no one bats an eye.

The fall and winter roadmap is out and they're finally adding firearms:

For a game that has a steep price tag and an advertisement that looks like a singleplayer game, it definitely acts like an early-access always-online service.

Was wanting to ask; which faction did you guys side with? Which one do you think has the best story?

For those who still play Dying Light 2, the devs have posted their first dev blog where they talk about the community updates (fixes and new features):
Community Update #3

Dismantling gear, repairing weapons, finishers, it's like they're ripping off Dead Island 2 now, lmao. New patch is coming out on November 2nd.

"We decided to further refine them to ensure they are in line with our - and your - expectations."
Good thing anyone with two neurons still firing expects it to be shit. You're not going to No Man's Sky your way out of this.
It took them 2 years to add the firearms. Instead of doing what people asked from the start, they focused on the low-effort live-service crap.
The mandatory Chinese New Year event was probably the only timed event that had the most attention put into it. Thanks Tencent, I guess.
Meanwhile, Dead Island 2 had everything (gore, guns, finishers) since day 1.

Crazy how Dying light 2 and Dead Island 2 are really fucking expensive. Listed as 50 quid, for fucking zombie games that are well past the craze highs.

DL2 is a big let down, amazing how you can make a good game, sell out to the chinks, and ruin your entire franchise.

That chinky money must be amazing, because time and time again they karate chop up any hope of a decent game, and it becomes a womeme microtransaction live service dress up simulator.

That gun update is really bad. The only way to get access to the guns is by grinding the survivor missions. Can't loot them off corpses in the open world or buy them from the vendors.
Fuck Techland.

I'm betting the story will be at least as shit as it was in the first one, with lots of telling and very little showing.
Hopefully they'll get rid of breakable weapons, because it's already bad enough having a Diablo loot treadmill when my fucking crowbars snap in half every other fight like they were made in motherfucking China.
If we're lucky, we'll get the same "story is shit, gameplay is serviceable" product as the first one.

Absolutely the "Crane was to scared and selfish to fucking kill himself" wet fart ending because he nuked himself otherwise, and we can't have a sequel game in Current Year +(N) without using the previous player character as tired nostalgia bait or a zombie game that doesn't bang on and on and motherfucking on that hUmAnS aRe ThE rEaL mOnStErS!!1!!

looks like dying light is on the right path again after the garbage dying light2. dying light the beast with protagonist kyle crane is coming as a standalone, and storywise will be inbetween the first and second game. also if you have the ultimate version of dying light2 you get it for free. it will be interesting to see if this is digital only or it will get a proper disc release for the ps4/ps5.

It's kind of scummy to turn a planned DLC into a full game and ask the DL2 owners to buy it.

Probably needed to since Dying Light 2 is over 2 years old and this will give it a "pop" of freshness.

I mean I'm interesting in a standalone that plays more like Dying Light 1 over Dying Light 2.

Some gameplay of the upcoming Dying Light: The Beast. Game looks pretty cool, honestly. Hope it adheres more to Dying Light 1 in terms of feel though.
If you have the ultimate edition of Dying Light 2, you get this game for free I believe. Games releases August 22, 2025
