Yeah but they keep walking that aspect back and making it more and more solo-able, much to that segment's chagrin.

Yeah it doesn't really fit in any one genre and you can easily play it for 150 hours solo if you enjoy grindy resource/building games and Arrakis. It's Enshrouded (minus the voxel terrain manipulation) with Dune shields/guns/vehicles and some 'MMO' PvP/Guild grind stuff tacked on for endgame. It doesn't play like an MMO, it plays like a 3rd person action RPG crafting game.

It's nowhere near as smooth and buttery as MadMax or the Arkham games but it is still a shoot and parry game with vehicles and an emphasis on melee. You get 2-3 abilities not 36 MMO hotkeys. It's not GOTY but it is pretty fun and I would pick it up on sale just to experience the setting, get to tier 5 (of 6) and then walk away.
I absolutely despite the rust type MMOs with guilds that control half the map. I don't care for some retard that spends 26 hours per day grinding the best guns to fuck with me.

I get why the survival aspect is tantalizing for dune but it should be the slow paced type of survival like the long dark not the 12 year old screaming in the open mic about how they will gangbang you type of survival like rust.

Yeah 100%, I quit Ark because the Chinese guild in the Northeast wouldn't even let me have a small base or a raft in the bay to keep my tier 2 shit on and I would log in and find all my stuff gone every time.

When the game launched it was like "I need a guild for endgame" now it's "I need a guild to get every experience in endgame" (namely group spice harvesting) but the funny part is the PvP is almost non-existent, there are only a few zones for the first 100+ hours of the game where it can even happen and they are almost always empty. Only your Deep Desert endgame outpost can be raided (theoretically). I am level 150, halfway into tier 5, poking my head into the endgame zone and I have yet to co-operate with anyone and have yet to have an actual PVP encounter. I am just playing retro 60's futurism themed Enshrouded and feeling thirsty.

If you do wind up in PvP the TTK is the polar opposite of Rust as well and the penalties for death are almost non-existent (again Enshrouded but you can spawn from the vehicle you parked outside)... but I'm quite sure it's also janky as fuck TBH..

Also I played TLD before it was completed/woke-ified. I was one of the most immersive games I have played. I managed to eek out a sustainable living on the lakeside and that was a win for me. Though I almost froze to death trying to light my hearth in the pitch black after staying out too long on the lake :P

It's a dune game, we have already filtered out the 12 year olds. Next is the survival aspect. That also filters out the 12 year olds. Now what i am seeing is a lot of guys saying "gonna wait for my 7 days to die mods to catch up". Those are who i am playing with. It's a grinding game on a desert.

What would fix pvp is if they actually did house stuff. for a war of assassins, in a story about assassins, there is NO assassination. IF you pick a house, then you should be fighting the other house. instead you get these guilds made up of both houses because they want to build the neat bases. needs more house war.

Reckon it'll hold up like Conan Exiles where i can pick it up at a discount after launch and still enjoy it? Without the guilds just eating up newbie river and forcing you out into the worst parts the desert.

Yep. I never got into conan exiles, but there are two classes of dune players: dune fans and people from conan exiles. the funny thing is that both are from the pulp era, so the fandoms intermingle easily. I can understand why people would like the sexy barbarian women of the conan series, but not be too into the 1960s retro futurism of dune. I have a wife and kid so i have to be careful with what i play in front of them. Dune is a nerd dad survival game. Climbing is conan exiles logic, and instead of giant eldritch god destroying your base it's the weekly coriolis storm. So every monday you pack up your outposts and leave, and every Tuesday you find a new place to set up.

It's a good dune game, you are indeed taking drugs and waging house war. the landsrad stuff needs work, but it's a good survival crafting game. It's very much PVE. The PVP is now devolving into gankers and zergling guilds but if you find where they live on the deep desert then a server wide lynching will occur, and it's both brutal and pure unadulterated lulz, like "they shot down the ornithopters and planted thumpers so the worms eat them" lulz.

I like the game, but the PVP starts off as rust brutal then hits levels of autism and trolling that even i struggle with. It needs some more time in the oven. Honestly I don't know why they would make a dune online game. A survival crafting game where you were an atredies soldier who escaped the betrayal and is trying to survive and get off the planet would have been better, but that would have required good story writing which is rare now these days. So the first 40 hours are spent building a pretty base and pve, even in pvp areas because there is no pvp in the basin, followed by entering trash talking troll thunder dome of the deep desert.

What i really wanted, was an online game similar to silica where it is hybrid RTS . FPS, where we try to do capture points in the war of assassins. I did not get this and was pretty stupid to assume it would be that cool. It's an ok game, i got my money's worth out of it so far, but i didn't pay 90 bucks. Those guys got screwed over.

Holy fucking shit! I checked out some reviews and gameplay. IT'S A CRAFTING GAME WHERE YOU CAN'T SAVE YOUR INVENTORY!

This game will be dead in less than a year, with the only players being left are those who plays it every single day. Apparently you can only build a base that lasts 3 weeks offline, then you start to lose items until your whole base is gone.
