finished the game. the ending leaves alot to be desired. not even a cool boss fight. the game really is half baked and needed atleast another year in the oven.

Look at Total War Warhammer 3 for instance. It'll kill CA, but it won't kill Sega or make them rethink their strategy.
Hah, don't even get me started on that mess. I could go on for hours.
If anyone wants to listen to J-Rock intro again.
Obligatory "THE WIND IS PUSHING MEEEEEEE"
You could go to BBI as soon as you got your main pawn, hell, you could kill Daimon twice before you even saw Gran Soren.
It's super easy to break the game just by going to the "safe" area and glitching past the doors with those special items. Among other ways to break the game.

Now that the dust has settled and some of you are probably on your second or third run, how is it? How is the end game? Is it worth full price? I'm closing in on 100%ing DD:DA and still having a lot of fun so I was wondering if I should bite the bullet on DD2.

Wait till it goes on sale, for a full price product it's atrocious that it would be released at this level of quality.

I agree with this. Unless youre a hardcore DD1 fan or you get it at a discounted price its not worth it. The game is fun but its jank as fuck

Ive been enjoying the postgame, focusing on grinding out upgrades to dragonforge shit and
killing dragons to get the endgame gear
was a fun timesink if you like the combat. Ive got all the vocations maxed so Ive been trying different mixes for warfarer and my favorite combo is magic archer+mystic spearhand. It has real great synergy and some of the most fun abilities. Have any of yall found cool combos for it like that?

Arcstaff for Agural Flare and daggers for Skull Spliter.

Also wait for mods to fix a fuckton of shit. Like vocations.
Also, wait to see if capcom tries to enigma this shit. Unless they already did.
The demo (the fucking character creator demo) had it so the full game probably does too.

I have 500 hours on DD: DA and just finished playing through DD2. I would pay $35-40 (USD) for DD2, but not $70.

My official statement is: If you enjoyed base Skyrim with zero mods, and didn't play DD1/DD: DA (or any other fantasy ARPG for the last 10-15 years), you would probably like DD2.

So I finished the postgame
The only character that I gave a shit about and had any effect on me was when your pawn is turned into a griffon dragon thing but still fights to be by your side. Go and figure that spending time with a character makes them and their sacrifice have any amount of weight lol. I really dont get what they were going for with the story. I thought pheaseus and his gayass sellsword were losers if not outright antagonists, seeing them in a wagon did nothing but annoy me. The narrative for the game was all over. As I said, the only thing I liked was that by being by your side your pawn gets their "A man chooses, a slave obeys!" moment.

i was levelling my magic for the most part so i played Mages, Sorcerer and Magik Archer.
You dont actually level stats overall anymore, that retarded minmaxing is gone, your stat curve is tied to classes. If you're a level 30 thief, then you switch over to mage, you are now are level 30 mage, with the stat curve to match.

We just need to support and pre-order Itsuno's true vision in Dragons Dogma 3

They even had a weird escort-like system that we could've used to have a fourth member on the team that was an NPC. With an abundance of wakestones to use (in comparison to like in DD1 when there was literally only 2 before postgame) as well.

I would've loved to have Hugo with me, if he still had daggers. Or actually emoted. Or actually talked.

There are a lot of characters I really liked, but I wish they had a lot more to them. Actually being able to do things with them which would give you additional dialogues and such would've been cool. Even if the additional dialogue is just the text based thing you get without much voice clips, I'd go for it too. They have trips to spas and buying rounds as a thing, also escort missions and others. But only escort missions and the weird love letters they send you are the only way to interact with side characters.

The game still feels like a big sandbox where you fill the gaps in with your imagination and it could be frustrating to some since there are many games with much better interactivity. It isn't all that different from DD1, if not a little improved. Some of the Japanese RPGs that I played so far don't seem to follow the same philosophy of NPC interactivity that Western developers do. But I might be talking out of my ass, since I don't play as many Japanese video games comparatively.

DD2 appears to be far more moddable than DD1. In the first game you couldn't even change anything about character creation without doing client-side hex editing, but for DD2 they get a short people mod pretty much on day 1. People are already doing bunch of overhaul mods and other things on Nexus, so I'm wondering where this will get us.

I've been recently reminded of the whole debacle with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided as well. There really is no winning while publishers do whatever they please, huh?

It's just that I'm suspicious about the whole thing since Capcom did try the whole "fuck mods" thing earlier, on an oldass game.

Because, apparently something bout nude mods in an esports? You never know with this company.

Unless there will be an update that does it? Right now I'm seeing that modders even figure out how to do custom meshes and other things. Nude mods were more or less a thing on day one.

Yeah they made updates specifically for it for even oldass games. One sec I think I remember where the thread is. Nope it gone :(

Admittedly DD1 wasn't affected by this.
Capcom periodically pushes updates for old ass games. This breaks most/all mods since it's usually a change that's directly on the .exe that the mod creators then need to change the reference for( or players can just replace their .exe with the old one).
Recently Resident Evil Revelations 2 received a patch that worsened performance(and broke mods) while implementing Enigma DRM and caused a furor. The decrease in performance was unrelated to the DRM implementation(Which Capcom had been applying to various other older games for months without major issue) and caused a kerfuffle around Capcom DRM implementation in older games.

That event was a prelude to Dragons Dogma 2 release response
