TO the people that are crying about not being able to change your character:

Is this your first RPG? There have been many, many rpgs where you couldn't change your character appearance at all, let alone a bit into the game. Fuck, Dragon Age 2 added that option as DLC, which cost money.

I get being pissed off at MTX but you need to mail your post to 2006 when it may have meant something. That ship has looooong sailed.

-Basic attacks are meant to be spammed so they obviously don't have weight. But smashing things with heavy mace strikes and especially the jumping strike feels really good to me. To each their own ig
Idk magic doesn't seem to have feedback at all. I spend more time staring at HP bars than looking at the fight in front of me since monsters don't have a reaction to anything that hits them other than Frigand. The camera is up my ass all the time while incanting too, and the targeting sucks. Foliage is always in the way and in the fog of war with a bunch of enemies, there's no indication if I'm targeting a Goblin or a Minotaur's leg. Maybe the other vocations are fun, but mage/sorcerer is kind of meh for me.

Regarding enemy feedback: The Saurians are really disappointing. In DD1 it used to be a lot of fun targeting their tails to cut them off and then chasing them around the area while they scurried on their bellies. They don't do that anymore. In DD1 you could cut their tail off to make them weaker/easier to kill and harvest Saurian Tails for recipes, but in DD2 all of their tails just fall off after losing enough HP. Targeting them has no effect.

I also don't get feedback when cutting off Ogre tusks or Minotaur horns. In DD1, your Pawns exclaim when enemy body parts get broken off, which feels really good and signals to harvest them after battle. It didn't happen every time in DD1, so you had to be sure to target those parts. Again it just seems like these things fall off of the enemies after they lose enough HP in DD2. I don't feel strong or good at combat. I just feel like the game is giving these things to me with no effort or thought.

Here's my shitty review after just finishing the game, I'm going to spoil it too, since the story is some how worse than the first one.

Game runs like complete dog shit, which is obvious. The gameplay itself is OK, the lack of classes from the first game really sucks but the new ones are alright. Spearhand was what I used till the end, and somehow I ended up getting the best weapon for it, I really don't know how (Btw get the shield skill for it, its OP as fuck). Magick archer was alright, didn't like how archer was treated in this since the controls for it are shit. Trickstar was eh, very gimmicky and obviously inspired by V from DMC5. Now I thought warfarer would have been sick, but somehow they fucked that class up too. So in order to use it, you need to unlock the maisters skill which allows you to swap weapons on the fly. The only issue is that, its a skill. Meaning you can only use 3 skills for 3 different weapons.

One issue I had with the gameplay was the how often you were fighting, you would be fighting one group of hobgoblins, and not even 5 seconds later you would be fighting bandits. Because of that, it tricks you into thinking the world was massive but in reality it was just padding. A few others have noticed, but controlling the MC is sluggish as all hell which sucks alot of the fun out of it. The lack of variety of mobs or even new ones is stupid, 12 years and all we get is like 5 new enemies? having of them being reskins too. One thing I noticed alot of shills on youtube say, that the game lacked markers for quests, but I don't know if its because I'm an expect ELITE gamer but I had no trouble besides one thing.

The pawns are better though, still repeat the same lines but gameplay wise they're alot more smarter. Sometimes you'll see the odd mage grabbing onto an ogre but not as often in the first one. I must have been really lucky too, since I never got the dragonsplague at all in my playthrough.

Now onto the story, or lack of one. The main motive of the story is that, you are meant to be king since you're Arisen (Stupid) but some dickhead thief got fucked up and has a scar that looks like the one that an Arisen would have, so he's in charge since the Steward wants her kid to be king so she is using him as an pawn. (You never interact with either besides once) Next thing you know, you get introduced to Phallic (I know its not his name, I just don't remember it besides it sounding like phallic) and then the negro knight tells you to investigate him. You head over to the beast city and get told by an ghost or whatever his name was, to find the SECRET lab. You head over to the SECRET lab which isn't that well hidden or guarded and get told to head to the beach, there you find this guy who wants some blue shit that turns out to control the pawns even if they're not arisen.

Next thing you know the sunken city gets lifted up and then you head into stormwind cave, there you find the OG king of Vermund who turns out to be an schizophrenic cat. He gives the godsbane and tells you to repair it. You bring it to the SECRET lab guy from the beach who tells you that he needs 15 Dragon blood crystals to sharpen it and once done he wants to give it to Phallic. After repairing it, the albino ghost negro shows up and uses his jedi mind powers on him to give it back to you.

You chase after Phallic and then a giant fucking statue comes alive and starts following him and destroying shit, this part in the game fucking sucked for me. It was a pain trying to kill this guy that it became so frustrating. The worst boss in the entire game, even though it lacked an health bar. Anyway. After killing it, you're now back at the quarry. You chase after Phallic, and somehow, that thief king pretender is with him. It doesn't once show him with Phallic but I guess he used an ferrystone or some shit. You fight him (You can just run past the King and head straight to Phallic and it skips the fight with the King and his pawns) and then Grigori shows up and does the same thing he did to the mutant midge that was Salvations boss.

Grigori pulls out your lover or whoever you had high affection with and you of course fight back, you kill him (No dragonforged items because fuck you) and then the game ends. Unless you get the hidden true ending, which you use the Godsbane on yourself when you're riding Grigori, and now you're in post game and its complete and utter dog shit compared to the first game.

First thing you should know, its on a timer. Thats right, its on a fucking time limit since the world is ending. There is no ever fall, no way of getting new gear, nothing. 12 years and all you get is a shit time limited end game. Anyway, you do all the stuff you need to do. Fight Grigori again, your pawn turns into an Dragon and now has free will. You kill him again with the Godsbane and roll credits.

Terrible fucking story, seriously its terrible. All the characters in the world lack any real personality makes it even harder to remember their names. Atleast in the first game I can remember their names. The voice acting is godawful, and i'm not someone who cares for voice actors or how bad it is. If there wasn't an Dragons dogma 1, this would have been an Okay game, but the first one had alot of quirks and dare I say it, SOUL in it. This game, it has no excuse. It had the time frame, it had the engine and even Capcoms full support in the development but it just falls flat. The lack of classes, the lack of cutscenes, the lack of an true end game, the lack of story, the lack of what most games need, and even no real unlocks after finishing the game besides keeping everything.

The short of it is, if you liked DD1, you might like this one. Depends on what you were expecting. If this is your first time playing an Dragons dogma game, you'll probably enjoy it. I don't regret buying it, but I would wait on an discount or atleast until the devs fix all the problems with the FPS. Also fuck them for making Art of metamorphosis an item you can only use twice, one for you and one for your pawn. So I modded that shit in, too bad you can't gift them because I would gift them to every pawn to fuck over their Jewish greed. I know I missed afew things, but the game is so forgettable.

Also, reviewers knew about the Microtransactions
yeah Its Asmondgold but its not about him, so fuck off Suzi with your lies.

Jesus Christ, i encountered three Drakes today just chilling on the side of the road, taunting me to attack them. its like they knew i would not do shit and just there to annoy.
I had something similar happen.
I was on a secondary vocation, farming some DP to unlock augments, with absolute garbage gear and skills and suddenly I come across one of these niggas. I proceed to run like a bitch, but the fucker followed me and it was close to a village.
Since I didn't want some NPCs to die, I said YOLO and started fighting but once I dropped one life bar, this nigga ran away.

I am also enjoying the little travel logs, especially since it seems my pawn is carrying some random nigga.

Since nobody from my (rather modest) Steam friend list plays this game, I get picked by randoms and I pick randoms. Makes it more enjoyable.

Have actually started standing there doing nothing during combat while my Pawns do all the fighting for me. Seems to work just as well as participating. Works for Minotaurs and Cyclops. Will report back when I fight a Griffin or something.

>Every single ugly muttoid Pawn I've encountered so far was a Capcom-made Pawn
Hmm, I'm noooticing.
It's almost like they knew that actual players wouldn't make black/brown pawns.

Is this yours? Numerous RPGs have come and gone throughout the decades with customizable avatars. Any game with a customizable avatar is expected to have the modern conveniences that come with it, so the fact that they took something that's an expected part of the game's personalization aspect and attached an additional price tag to it is beyond scummy.

I get being pissed off at MTX but you need to mail your post to 2006 when it may have meant something. That ship has looooong sailed.
"We've been eating shit for so long, you should just enjoy eating shit!"

No thanks. Feel free to continue eating shit on your own.

I don't know what you're talking about. The saurians DO scurry back away from you trying to keep you from hitting their tails, they're extremely tanky if you don't cut their tails off, and when you target the tail, you get a really meaty hit sound effect telling you you're hitting the weak point. Everything you're complaining about here not being present in the game is present in the game.

Everyone's been bitching about the Dragons plague mechanic softlocking them because a pawn they hire ends up slaughtering an entire village with multiple quest givers. People end up throwing pawns in the water to drown them apparently lol. Too bad there wasn't a mechanic to start a new game if an entire village gets wiped out because a pawn decides to slaughter everyone fucking you over.

Technically, there is a mechanic to counter this. You can use wakestones on dead npcs to revive them. After a few days, dead npc bodies should appear in the morgue in Vernworth.

That sounds hardcore as fuck to me.

I am finding if very annoying that people have to straight up do Registry file hacks to get this shit working in a acceptable manner.

A fucking reg edit. I mean, at least it's simple, but really?
Here's my shitty review after just finishing the game
I like it, goes into the faults but doesn't 100% shit on it. Thanks for sharing man. However as a DD1 fan all the way from PS3, from what I'm seeing I really dislike it. And judging from the now "mixed" reviews I doubt I'm the only long time fan who dislikes it as well. Also, "paid shills paid to shill for company knew about shitty practices before the game launched, how shocking." The only good thing about Asmongold (aside from the fact that he isn't reproducing) is that he's great at signal boosting to people with actual brains.
Can anyone who has played this confirm?
100% real, there's lines for all female, height (unconfirmed), I think mostly male/female and one male/female, and probably more. Reminds me of this post:

When you miss points, you fail to make yours worthwhile. Was going to make a "is this your first RPG then" joke but Book Thief
stole it faster than when he stole my 1988 LOTR book collection. "mail your post to 2006 when it may have meant something." is so astronomically pretentious I have to ask, what does leather taste like?

They definitely knew that type of shit would happen, least you can't softlock yourself that way unless Wakestones fail to spawn (in which case off the real life shop for you), instead the game will softlock you when the game fails to complete a quest in its code like that other guy experienced.
This guy just can't seem to get enough of the Capcock. Deffinetly one of the more egregious shills of the bunch.
Was this guy always a shill? I remember watching him for...fuck me nearly a decade. And now not only is he a shill, he's a really bad one. One that states that he'll kick anyone who "talks shit" whenever he streams according to one comment. Speaking of which, for a 10k/8k dislike ratio there's a lot of positive comments. Me thinks someone is deleting comments.

Reading into it more on Reddit, the game tells you about it and the symptoms are really easy to tell but people are retarded and end up letting their pawns get borrowed without checking them first leading to their pawns infecting someone elses. Its spreading around like a real-life virus because people are too lazy to check their pawns. And now I can see people with malicious intent finding out about this and try to spread it around faster and destroy people's saves.

Yeah that's my bad. I changed it to a jpg I think right as you posted. Shame about what happened to webp, could've been a good format.

The prospect of people spreading around an AIDS infected Sphere Hunter to destroy people's saves is hilarious. Capcom would be forced to change the mechanic to add multiple saves to save themselves from bad optics.

tell me more about this plague. whats the symptoms? what can i do to avoid it? is there a cure?

tell me more about this plague. whats the symptoms? what can i do to avoid it? is there a cure?
You get it from fighting Drakes or Dragons or borrowing someone elses pawn that has the plague.

Stolen from Reddit

Heed the following warnings:

  • Pawns will comment early about Dragonsplague, so you can be on the lookout for it.
  • The first time you summon a pawn that's afflicted, you will get a pop up explaining it.
  • Afflicted pawns will have rude dialogue frequently, which will be remarked upon by other pawns. -Afflicted pawns will routinely clutch their heads in pain when idle.
  • Afflicted pawns will routinely disobey commands
  • Afflicted pawns will have the big glowing red eyes.
The solution, as explained in the pop up, is to forfeit the pawn.

If your main Pawn gets infected the only cure is literally to kill them and revive them leading to people throwing their main pawns to drown in the river.

If you don't notice the signs and sleep at an inn, the infected pawn will kill everyone in the town or village you are staying at including essential npcs.
