The numbers appear that its not gamers, but a small sub section they call whales. Most people will not pay anything to MTX, but a small number will. But an even smaller number, well they will buy everything and pump huge amounts of cash into the game.

Its not gamers that are the problem, its a subset of Bossman type gambling addicts that pump up the numbers. They will never stop doing it because they can make shit loads of money exploiting those with addiction issues.
Trust me, I know its mostly whales gobbling this kinda shit up, but those dipshits spend so much that this business model is seen as profitable. Truly we get the industry we deserve.
Pirate the game, in fact pirate all games. Pretty quick you will realise these types of games are not even worth pirating, and you can ignore most of the slop that comes out without feeling you are missing out, because you already know what a turd it is anyway.
Trust me, the current plan is that after this console Gen winds down, I'm either out of gaming, or buying a proper PC and pirating the shit out of older titles. Every time Gaming gives me the smallest bit of hope, i gets drowned in an ocean of shit...
My biggest gripe is honestly that the beginning/intro isn't nearly as fuckin cool as DD1. But the Dragon Heart Eating scene is still kino.
Anything outside the actual game and its performance aside, thats probably the one of the bigger disappointments. Granted it was a hard bar to clear, but still

All of those games from mostly indie studios could figure out how to give you the option for you to make multiple save files for multiple characters.
Schizo micro-transaction prediction: in another 5-10 years we will see games where you buy a license for a single play-through and have to buy another one via DLC if you want to play again if these trends continue.
It's a staple so common in all games it's absolutely insane that anyone would conceive of it as DLC.
Next thing you know, an options menu is going to be DLC. Or maybe saving your game will cost money.

I stay winning

Ok so how bad is it?
The game itself has optimization issues which is...inconvenient, but has become so typical of AAA releases that it's taken for granted.
The things I'm most hung up about is all this DLC dropped on launch and hampering the player's ability to something as simple as creating a new character or changing the look of your existing character. This is idiotic, unnecessary and an obvious cash grab by Capcom propagated by whales who don't care and will happily be gauged by the industry if it allows them to feed their addiction to slop.

Ok so how bad is it? I've seen people say you need to pay to make new characters, it has denuvo even though it's single player and alot of other bad shit.
1. Denuvo is anti piracy, not anti cheat, so while it's gay as fuck and shitty for performance, there is a certain logic to including Denuvo. I'm not saying it's right but their reasoning makes sense from their perspective.
2. You cannot create a new game once you have started a game. So it's not possible to do speed runs from a fresh save unless you manually turn off cloud saves, delete the save folder, and restart the game.
3. All the DLC items can be acquired in game and if it's anything like DDDA, it's trivial to get the in game currency through gameplay. It's just in really bad taste and any dev that does it should be shamed publicly as a matter of principle.
4. Many people are reporting extremely poor performance in cities in game. While this is not excusable, it's industry standard to ship games with inflated hard drive space requirements that run like shit. So it's not an outlier in that respect, even though that's not an excuse.
5. The actual gameplay itself is as good or better than DDDA. Most of the complaints, while valid, are not related to the core gameplay.

I'm a Capcom Shill and neurotic retard but I think the blame for the drag queen event lies more specifically on Capcom USA and particularly on Andy Wong although it seems Capcom JP might've been permissive of it.
I will continue to bring up Andy Wong in Capcom related threads due to my autism.
Do continue, I want to everything about the faggot abcess that has formed within capcom.

Denuvo is anti piracy, not anti cheat,
If you try doing

you can set off Denuvo and fuck up your Steam account. Denuvo also screwed over a guy trying to write an optimization guide for Linux when he was poking around in the files.

Never tried modding or editing anything on a Denuvo game, no idea how sensitive it is or how it may affect your Steam account
It's DRM that by nature works as an anti-cheat system(are files modified, have someone hooked something into a process etc), but you never hear companies using Denuvo for it. Because it's not an anti-cheat system, it's an anti-piracy system.

Just for reference how long does it take to get 500 crystals.
Idk. Not long?

I never had an issue coming by RC in the first game and it seems that way in DD2. You get RC from people hiring your Pawn, from chests, enemy drops, or repairing a Riftstone in various locations. Ppl say finding RC in drops is rare even in DD1, but I never felt that way. There are plenty of low level enemies to farm and they respawn all the time. Your hired pawns will also pick up anything that isn't nailed to the floor so if you forget to grab something, one of the three doofuses in your party will. In DD1 there was a Pawn quest board that gave you RC as a reward, but idk if that's in DD2.

I already have 2k crystals and only just started. You mainly spend RC when you hire Pawns from the Rift that are higher level than you, which you don't have to do especially early in-game unless you really, REALLY suck. Sometimes they're used for certain items, but gold is the most used currency in the game.

There are barbers in the city that you spend gold at to change various things. There is a blacked out "Modify Appearance" option in the list, which I have a hunch will unlock in NG+ like in the first game or maybe after a certain quest. I don't know if it applies to both you and your Pawn, but you could change both your and your Pawn's appearance in DD1 at the barber.

EDIT: Also earning gold is piss-easy so far in DD2. If you think 10k-25k gold is too hard to come by, you're playing the game wrong.

It really does feel like these companies see "consumer good will" as a cashable currency.
Capcom in particular it feels like that "hard times create strong men" type thing. They'll be riding high on all their Resident Evil money and start getting really fucking stupid and greedy and burn up all that good will, and then they have to tighten their belt and will come out with a couple of really great games that put them out on top and before you know it they're back to square one.

What I find interesting about DD2 is trying to figure out where the AAA(A) crunch ends and where the predatory monetization begins. Selling character customization is very greedy, but selling character slots probably would have been more profitable.

i've always believed the biggest threat to gaming was its corporatization. yeah the sjw shit makes games less fun/more annoying but it's easy enough to simply not play those games.

this shareholder bullshit about pushing out unfinished games and a ton of day 1 dlc is, i feel, the actual existential threat to gaming
It's not just that, since G4 it's been a concentrated effort to replace the enthusiast audience with the lowest common denominator of mouthbreathing gorilla cattle nigger that will keep buying games without asking questions. It's part of why you're seeing so much crashing and burning and money being wasted, investors and analysts have convinced all the big publishers that if they just throw even MORE money at projects one will eventually win and bail them out of all their failures. They've been convinced that someplace, somewhere, there is an audience that is even dumber with even lower standards than the current audience of total retards they've cultivated, they just have to lower the bar even more, pander to an even WIDER audience than before, and eventually you'll strike gold. Trust The Plan. Revenue is in control. Just two more As until we hit the payload.
A mod to buy "Art of Metamorphosis" early and cheap
The merchant may be gone after enough progression though, but works fine otherwise.
Wonder how long until Capcom DMCAs this or the power tripping loser mod fags at Nexusmods take it down themselves.

I have a general rule that works really well for avoiding bad games: If it's from Japan and it's made after the year 2000, don't buy it.

The only RPGs that are worth buying today come directly from the U.S or from European developers. These development companies have dominated the market on story-driven role playing games for over a quarter of a century now. Wasteland 2 and 3, The Dragon Age series, The Witcher series, Torment: Tides of Numenera, Baldur's Gate 3, Pillars of Eternity 1/2, The Metro series, Cyberpunk 2077, we even have underdogs rolling in on shoestring budgets that blow a lot of Japanese releases out of the water like Sea of Stars, Kingdoms of the Dump or Death Trash. All of these games despite whatever flaws on release eventually get patched and they are fantastic games you will remember forever.

Japanese companies, however, have been churning out the same boring shit, weirdly with the exact same font (?), poorly translated and poorly optimized since 2002 and it has almost always never been worth your money or purchase. It's Japslop for people who want to masturbate to cat-girls and follow convoluted narratives that lack cohesion and common sense, always ending with "And with the power of friendship and love, we can win." It's all shit, all of it.

I just checked the shitshow, what a disaster. I won't list anything since everyone here has probably found out more things than even I found out, good fucking lord. Going to make a list of all the issues and probably post it here for easy access.
The more I see the worse it gets. I was planning on buying a new game this weekend and it looks like Unicorn Overlord it is.
Brother of mine has been playing the game non-stop for nearly 60 hours, got all endings and is taking a break. From what he told me and what I've seen videos of, it looks really fucking good. Might get it to scratch that FE itch I had since that shitshow Fates, let alone 3 Faggots and Engage (with a 45.).

Honestly the real Chad move is probably to just wait two more years and buy the inevitable 50$ Dark Arisen equivalent, but I don't know if I'll hold off quite that long.

The rift crystals and item purchases have been a mainstay of Capcom releases pretty much forever. As gay as it is to sell these things, Capcom probably has the least intrusive MTX of any company in this regard. These items aren't even hard to get in game and exist solely to fleece retards who can't wait an hour to buy rift crystals for fast travel. I am stunned to see this game get so much flack when DMC 5, RE2/4, and every other game they've made that has gotten glowing praise has had the exact same issue.

Performance is fucked and I assume that's due to RE Engine not being able to handle anything more than like four NPCs being active at one time. Shit sucks.

Personally

You don't have to pay to make new characters. They're selling an item that lets you alter your appearance for real money but it's also available in game. The game only has one save slot, I don't imagine they'll sell more.

It's not just that's there's one save slot. It's that you can't erase it and start a new game. That's fucked. Every other game ever allows you to start a new game lol. I guess Crapcom just assumed the game was so bad that no one would ever want to play it more than once.

ARISEN THERE IS A FUCKINUUUH LADDER OVER THERE YOU MUST CLIMB IT IMMEDIATELY

It's funny that after people complaining about pawns constantly babbling and adding the option to reduce chatter in DD1, they stubbornly refused to add the same option in a sequel.
