Gameplay I saw made Archer and the dagger classes look considerably more fun than the hybrids of the prior game. And you can swap vocations on the fly so I'm not really concerned about it.
I guess my eyes are dead or my brain is, didn't seem all that different to me. Or I didn't watch an in depth enough video.

Do you have the video in your history?

Does anyone have any info on equipment? I hope they bring back the layering and multi class armors from the previous game, but that might be to high brow for a modern audience. Being able to switch vocations on the fly has me a little concerned as they might reduce gear down to one or two slots to help smooth out changing vocations.

@Estate i think the makeup looking weird was the lighting.

Here’s one with better lighting.

i wish there were more option when i came for hair cooler and eye cooler.

also, RIP loil characters.
I'll give Capcom the benefit of a doubt here, if they're using a different engine than the original Dragon's Dogma then they could have disabled loli height because the camera wouldn't be able to track it as easily as the OG engine could. Leading to some fucked up cinematics. I remember the blog post for the first game talking about how proud they were to have figured out how to fix that so everyone could have whatever character they wanted and have them fit in the screen.

I saw something where they said they removed the layers, you only have upper (chest) and lower (pants) but it seems there will be a great deal of choices. As for switching vocations, I think by "on the fly" he meant at some inn or something, not everywhere.

I'm personally not a big fan of the sharp lower face, preferring something more egg shape.
I need to see the nose from different angles, but I also didn't make one good myself, so I picked a base with a good nose.
I would advise for the eyes, the outer iris (3rd one) to be black or something dark, to make a good contrast between the entire iris and sclera.
All in all, you have a good start and you have 2 more weeks to fiddle with it.

Here is a basic webm I saw that kind of gets my point across. It looks like you can pull some crazy Legolas shit.

I have faith the game will be very entertaining. Perfect? Maybe not, but there's nothing out there quite like Dragon's Dogma.

I think it's less accurate to call them vocations now and call them weapon skills.
And we have A LOT more of that in comparison

I frankly don't believe this whole "there are only ten classes" bullshit. It actually doesn't make sense. The classes revealed up to this point don't make sense with the pre-established coloring system, and it would fuck with the whole "basic, advanced, hybrid" system that they've clearly maintained. Thief and archer still don't have revealed advanced classes, there is room for far more hybrids, and its still uncertain what a trickster is supposed to be a hybrid of. Either the supposed interview where they said this was mistranslated, or they are straight up lying to us. My guess is, they meant that they would only reveal ten classes prior to launch, but will leave the others for the players to discover.

Still no actual elves
Elves are in the game. They have their own language, that you don't know, going in and everything.

We'll probably see some conflict with the elves since we can't play as one
Can't you still make an Arisen with pointed ears? You could do that in the first game. That probably technically counts, since your Arisen is supposed to be suffering from amnesia.

This is legitimately disappointing. The original game was the only game I've seen that actually took character size into account when it came to mechanics, and that was such a cool aspect of its design. To see them move away from that feels like a letdown. And speaking of letdowns...

Okay, this is bullshit. There is just straight up no reason to remove this. This means you will actually have less options and less ways to customize your character and can no longer layer armor and clothing. While there might be lots of choices (press X to doubt), that's less customizability and defense for no reason.

New gameplay vid up, haven't seen it posted yet
It looks okay i guess. Twinblades are gay as fuck weapons. A lot of framerate dropping as well but that's to be expected given it's console footage.
I'm just not hype at all. Nothing about this looks like it's worth $70 especially since DD1, while very soulful and I like it, is not a high production value product either.

IGN never disappoints in finding the worse players they have to showcase a game goddamn was he bad, and he made the game look boring.

@The Demon Pimp of Razgriz @Estate
From what I've been able to dig up it looks like there is only 4 equipment slots: head, cloak, upper body, lower body; thats down from about 7 slots(head, arms, 2chest, 2legs, cloak)in the first game. Thats going to really limit player customization both for stats and fashion, and outside of laziness I can't think of a really good reason for this change. Unless they add some kind of customization to gear stats on top of the normal upgrades it'll be a major downgrade. They also haven't put much effort into showing off how they made up for limiting the player/pawns from having 6 skills down to maybe 3-4 which also has me concerned.
I'm starting to get that negging feeling that the devs aren't releasing alot of info not because they want players to discover on their own, but because they don't want players to see how much of a step back this is compared to the first game. As always never preorder, we've waited 10+ years for this we can wait a week or two more.

I (attempted) making Sephiroth.

Instead of Sephiroth, it's more like he has a beef with Harry Potter. Needs more work

I'm also chugging mugs of Hopium on this, otherwise the color scheme triggered my almonds for nothing.

If I had to hazard a guess, it's that they didn't want to deal with the loli issues that would inevitably pop up. Even if one could argue that a size slider would work to create other fantasy races like dwarfs, gnomes, hobbits, goblins and whatnot.
Even if it doesn't affect me (as you can see from what I've posted, my ideal is thicc, tall and athletic) having less options due to modern sensibilities is never a good thing.

Here's the article question and answer. Make of it what you will.

Thick af built like a female speed skater.
There's a character in the trailer, that made me realize a couple of things
1. japs are based for sticking with the old conan-esque fantasy style (minimal clothing and ripped bodies, for both sexes)
2. making my pawn a warrior for that sweet, sweet barbarian drip is incredibly fucking tempting

Fair enough.
I plan to wait until it releases and check how it works on PC, before I make my mind to buy or not.
Having 30 fps in a modern title and poor optimization is a deal breaker for me.

Yeah, that's my understanding as well. Basically gloves are fused with chest armor and boots are fused with pants. A weird choice, not having gloves and boots slots, but I will wait until I pass final judgement.
I'm not sure about customization for the aesthetics, but apparently there's 3 slots for your gear to add improvements to it. But that's just for stats, nothing has been said about the fashion.
And yeah, I never planned to pre-order. I'll check the steam forums for any possible shit storms.

My chief concerns will be performance (30 FPS doesn't bother me persay but not being able to squeeze 60 out of a PS5 is pretty fucking suspect) and a lack of weapon skills. Only having 3-4 for every class feels like a step back because warrior was the worst class in DD1 specifically because you only had 3 skills. I could see this being okay if your basic moveset is expanded outward and your skills have more utility.

Also only one save slot is fucking ridiculous. There's no reason we can't have three or four.

I am very excited for environmental interactions in the world and combat. That shit looks very fun.

I can't decide between mystic spear hand or warrior. I never really did magic in DD1 (fucking one save slot) but spear hand looks really cool. At the same time warrior looks way too fun this time.

Yeah it’s pretty bad. Probably impossible to make Sephiroth in this game, but maybe I’ll see someone do it.

you know, there is a trick to have more saves. just take your current save file and save it in a USB. then you can make a new character while also keeping the old one.

i wonder if the same trick will work on two.

From that interview, it sounds like they wanted to simplify the armor system so that they could make more pieces of equipment available in the ones that are left? That's how it sounds to me, but it also sounds like the guy is talking in circles to excuse why there's no underclothes now. I really liked the clothes/armor system in the first, so it's a shame it isn't coming back, but if what's there is well-made, I can't complain just because it's different.

Just don't make the end-game sets hideously fucking ugly again. The final armor sets for Red, Blue, and Yellow all fucking suck dick in DA.
