I'm having a peek through the 4chan character creation threads and I can only conclude yet again that the RE engine is absolutely cursed when it comes to doing human figures. Leaving aside that you can make absolute aberrations, the ones that look good or fine still look kind of off.

That aside. I probably won't touch this till like a year after release but definitely interested in it. DD1 didn't grab me so hopefully 2 will have greater success.

I just realized
>10 vocations
>2 of those are half of one full vocation
>1 vocation is just all the others put together with nothing new

This game effectively has  fewer unique classes than DDDA.

It won't really matter if the classes are expanded outward rather than shrunk. In Dark Arisen you basically chose hard mode if you went Warrior, I'm not too miffed about bow and dagger classes being separated if it means the pool of abilities gets expanded out for both.

It took some tweaking but I am fairly happy with my characters. The best part of those 4chan threads are all the pedophiles crying that they can't make children anymore.

Something about the way the character holds themselves looks kind of gangly and weird, even with posture tweaking, which is a nice addition. Default posture is some real gargoyle mode shit, pulling my female pawn's shoulders back and straightening up her body made her look considerably better.

Like every modern CC the pool of attractive from the start options have been cut down considerably, but you can still make something cute if you try hard enough. This CC is a billion times better than Elden Ring's at least.

Is there a monk/unarmed class?

I think the full pool of vocations are being kept secret until the game launches. Maybe there are vocations unlocked for siding with the dragon, or Arisen-killer vocations.

Played around with the creation for a good couple hours last night. Dragon's Dogma still has the best creation depth you'll find in modern gaming, at least when held up next to its contemporaries. The beast race, however, feels really generic and almost pointless. I knew there was going to be a beast-man option, but I had thought it would at least be more than just lion people.

Still no actual elves which feels really strange for a series that seems to want so badly to lean into its obvious D&D inspiration, and trying to make an elf like character still doesn't work out very well because the ears just don't get elfy enough.

The musculature actually took a step back from the first game. There's so many musculature options, but they're basically unnoticeable and outright nonexistent depending on the skin choice and tone you go with. It's not as bad for male characters as it is for females, but it's still bad. RIP to me attempts to recreate my Wheyfu pawn from the first game.

The tattoos/paints are much better than the first game, but there's this really weird cut off point where nothing is allowed to go past. Between the traps and delts nothing is allowed to show up on that patch of skin, which is strange. Scars are still pretty much the same options as the first, with a couple new ones. Doing the preset scar options is the better/easier way of having a fully battle hardened look since we only have a single body slot and no dedicated face slot. A lot of fiddling with the vert/horizontal stretching to get any good coverage.

Much like the first game, the default you start from will greatly dictate how attractive you can make your characters, and how easy it will be. Especially since it's all slider based after the base head selection instead of the preset options of the first game that resulted in more of a mr potato head mix & match. Price you pay for having total control I suppose.

I find a lot of the male options are more easy to work with than the female, by far, in terms of starting from scratch. Females definitely seem to really rely on using one of the presets and editing it from there. The very last female preset is the one I've had the most success with. Also thought it was kinda fun we have our Not-Savan male preset still. A little tweaking and we can still easily re-create the Seneschal.

Was also nice to see we can actually alter the breast shape and lift on top of bust size. No we won't have those weird saggy torpedo tits for anything over a B cup like the first game.

Overall I'm pretty happy with characters I was able to make, and had more fun with this character creator than anything else in the last 10 years. Only thing that came close was Elden Rings, but it was infinitely more tedious to have a good lookin toon in that game than this one.

I just wish it was at least a demo that took us through the tutorial/prolog and not JUST character creation but whatever. I can cope.

When using a preset in the character creator the game instantly goes to a nigger first. Also it is kinda doing the "body type" thing even though there is still mention of female/male later. Add to the this the initial nigger story trailer and my conclusion is = Capcom got pozzed
That’s been obvious since re3 remake.

Someone said they're using the RE Engine for this and not the engine they specifically made for Dragon's Dogma? That seems like such a waste because that engine was amazing.

Temper your optimism, friend. When has a AAA ever expanded on something in recent years?

After spending 5h in the character creator, messing around, this is the outcome.
I still need to make my Arisen.

I wonder if you can make female pawns with softer faces rather than the weird uncanny valley Hollywood celebrity faces.

The one thing I'm concerned with in Dragon's Dogma 2 is this stuff they put in the game:

Basically there's this paragraph of how great Empress Nadinia is to this character because she treats all her people equally and that discrimination between races is a major concern of Menella's, but she strives to be more righteous in spite of it.

It just feels so out of place to me. The first game didn't care about any of this. There was fucking goblins and griffins going around killing and eating people. Sure, it'd be weird having walking talking cat people, but if you're not mauling my face like those rabid green midgets, then you can't be all that bad. Not to mention the return of the dragon, big news. I know Capcom typically scales this shit back so as to not be obtuse, but I dunno how they're gonna handle this. This topic has been screwed up so easily in recent years, like they don't even try and it's just there to score points no matter how small.

EDIT: I don't mean this by anything political, I just mean I seriously can't think of any nuance in this topic in like... fuck, 15 years? Even anime has taken an oppressor vs oppressed stance for this topic, just the default bad guys and nothing more. There's no, "Gosh, I hope we don't become monsters" shit or anything like that.

What do you guys think of my pawn? I think she turned out pretty good.

I made sure to make her chin as thin as possible so she actually looks like a woman.

Had to read this several times to understand what you're getting at. Add some format, nigga.

Anyway, if you are concerned about modern politics being hamfisted into the game, there's always a chance in current year.
I never played the first game, but it is my understanding that it followed a rather simple fantasy formula with some weird jap shit at the end (i.e every jap rpg has a fight with God for whatever reason). From what I could garner from trailers and such, this new game has some political intrigue so we'll have to dip out toes into that as well, besides monster slaying and gathering sacks of crap for whatever fetch quest.
So, with politics on the table, it's expected that we'll have to deal with such topics. What remains to be seen is how they go about it. Will there be nuance, or will we kill the white fascist and have a group of black women clap for us?

Make the makeup symmetric.
The neck seems a bit too long for the head.
Smaller lips.
The jaws and cheeks look a bit fucked up.
This character is on the fence between decent looking and severe Down Syndrome, and the Down Syndrome has the advantage.

One of the reasons I posted a video, was because I know that from a single picture you can't entirely get if the character is good or not.

Nigger when they say peace between the races they mean peace between humans and the fucking giant walking cat people, not BLMACAB George Floyd shit. The first game didn't have other sapient races. The first game was full of niggers, too, and it was fine.

I swear to Christ. At least wait until the game comes out to whine about it being woke (believe me, I'll be right there with you if it is). This horseshoe purity test shit is getting tiring.

Format seemed fine on my end. I can twist it a bit, separate the summary with the concern.

I'm hopeful for nuance since the way they're handling the prince character seems to buck the trend, he seems to actually have a noble heart instead of being a brat. It's just this topic in particular I don't know if they can pull off nuance since that will just upset the usual suspects and Capcom has an entire department for sensitivity reading. Similar to Square Enix's Ethics Department. We'll see, though.

Doesn't matter, I wasn't talking about it from a BLM angle, it could easily be an Avatar angle too and that took me out of the movie entirely.

EDIT: Seriously, I wasn't thinking from that angle. I couldn't get into Avatar at all because of the mystic blue cats do no wrong stuff. If they add actual nuance and the cat people are equally fucked up, that's good. I just don't know if that's what's gonna go on. I haven't really seen anything like that in recent memory because it's always oppressor and oppressed, never really any "Hey, you guys are fucked up too!" stuff. Even some anime take the stance that humans are bad by default, beast folk can do no wrong. There's nothing more to that plot point.

They're not going to add alot of if any race conflicts because the player can be either a human or a cat, so they'd need to put in extra work. We'll probably see some conflict with the elves since we can't play as one, and if they do try any human v. furry racism it'll either be small background comments made by npcs or it'll be a small side quest/line where you tell a group to "knock it off" because theres a big dragon eating everyone.

They've talked about how the cats hate the Arisen so I'm sure, at the very least, you will be treated like shit by them. I have faith for them to not do the "magical mystical nonhumans bullshit where they're just peaceful mystics who want peace and those mean ol dang humans just want war!"

I understand the apprehension, of course. Fucking everything sucks these days. But these cats were planned to be in the original, which came out before culture was a complete sewer, so I think we can expect more from them being perfect precious little beans.
