I ended up dropping DD1 since I simply could not get invested on the journey. After not touching it for a year I tried to give it another go, once I noticed that the quest waypoint was miles away somewhere I had never been to and noticed how slow my ass was moving, I just decided "yeah, I'm good" and turned it off again (did find it funny how I went to jail moments prior for shanking somebody by mistake).

Open worlds have gotten to the point where you can literally have an engine generate entire land masses ad hoc. Open world is the biggest cancer fad in gaming. So many games feel the need to add open world elements when they add fucking nothing to the experience or just pad it out. And it's a resource vortex which is what makes it extra fetid. So many games would benefit from tighter experiences with much smaller but denser areas.

I simply refuse to play ~30 fps or less on some unoptimized japslop.
What's even more infuriating is that Capcom released a statement in which they said that they were aware that the game is dogshit on PC. They just didn't give a fuck and went ahead with it.
And if indeed the issue is the CPU bottleneck, good fucking luck with that. No driver or you fiddling with the graphical settings would result in any meaningful fps increase.
I'll download it tomorrow, check myself anyway, refund it and leave a negative review.

Well that's a huge bummer, you were certainly hype as fuck for it.

I am interested in DD2 but if it's too close to the first one, there are big odds that I won't particularly latch on to it though. If my potato can't play it consistently at 1080p, well, my interest just craters at that point.
 
Anyone else see that gif floating around /v/ of the guy walking around one of the cities and NPCs have such low draw distances/lods they're just popping in and out of existence less than three feet away?

Jesus Christ that's like PS4 launch Cyberpunk tier shit.

Apparently Xbox uses can set their Country to Australia and download the game early.

I've heard rumors that DRM is the cause of the CPU bottleneck on PC. Don't know how true that is? Could DRM really cause such a drop in FPS?

Palworld devs called it, Americans like to make hideous characters because they find it funny. Doesn't help that streamers can't really take time to make good looking characters when they can get a stronger reaction faster from the audience with a hideous character

There have been tons of instances of games running like shit because of Denuvo and then performance smoothing out once the devs drop it.

It's also because they lack any sort of creativity, like most people when it comes to character creation. If I were to slap an arbitrary percentage what gets made in any character creation it'd be like

45% monstrosities using randomize and min/maxing the sliders
45% people just making themselves with as little effort as possible
5% people who make low tier waifu coom bait/lolis
4% are people who try to recreate celebs/real people and other vidya characters
1% people who take time to make good looking toons who fit the game/roleplay they're going for
 
So this runs like dogshit on all platforms and is heavily CPU limited on PC. Pass.

Silk lingerie got replaced by a very tame and stupid looking bikini.

I knew a literal thong was too based to survive in current year.

Current year morality is so weird. I can see all the thongs I want on literal 12 year olds at the beach but it's just too spicy for an M rated game with blood and dismemberment apparently.

You can kill them in order to improve the framerate.

I'm not even joking, the Dragons Dogma subreddit is trying to plan out how to kill as many NPC as possible without messing with quest/stories.

Reminds me of the newest Pokemon games, where they're so unoptimized that they have to make the NPC lods super short and have their animations frame skip as well as be low poly or else it the game will lag to a crawl when more than 5 NPCs are on screen. I laugh at the numbnuts who still pre-order games this day and age.

DRM (more specifically the infamous Denuvo) is notorious for causing games to lag horrifically. To the point where as soon as Denuvo is announced it kills a lot of interest in the game by people who were spurned by it. Some devs, like the Atomic Heart devs, try to hide it by (usually poorly) implementing "bandaids" in the form of DLSS for example, and dismissing any further concerns. And then Capcom double dipped on DRM and added another DRM that most likely further fucks the performance. I REALLY want to see what happens if both those DRMs are removed by whoever the fuck is willing and able, just to see how much better the performance is.

Reminds me of the cyclops on the mountain path, where it's pretty easy to get it to fall of a cliff. Except this is probably just a set piece so it feels less rewarding for using your brain to get the job done. Then again I've seen players these days do some outright retarded things so making it so obvious as to what you should do is the norm.
