The world wonders ...

If you are a wamman, would you have sex in this bed if a guy you just met took you back to it?

Any woman that doesn't orgasm upon seeing that isn't worth one's time.

They threw served dog parts at Square Enix HQ over DQ 9...
That is just autistically awesome.

DQ V is the best, IMO, even though it has the fucking gayest name ever chosen for a video game "Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride".

3, 4, 6, 8 are great. 7, & 11 are good. 1 & 2 are just too old school for me to enjoy, but I have yet to play the Switch releases.

I liked 11 because it was such a mind fuck:

You try to save the world, only to find out you were helping the bad guy all along, who promptly uses your efforts to fuck the entire world like no tomorrow. You eventually stop him, but genocide has already happened, so, LOL. You then go back in time, leaving all your friends in this world you have genocided, to try and stop the genocide, but it won't actually help the friends you left behind, because that branch of reality has already happened (nice nod to the multiverse theory). So, you manage to stop the 'big bad' from raping the world, but in the process you enable the 'bigger bad', which you find out was left behind for you to deal with in the present by a bunch of ancient fuck-ups who couldn't get the job done, to come back and rape the world his way. Eventually, you are able to destroy the bigger bad. Subsequently, you help the bitch from the previous group of ancient fuck-ups that tried to save the world and only partially succeeded and left the 'bigger bad' behind so it was your problem in the present, to go back to in time and get a chance to stop the ancient group of fuck-ups from fucking up in the first place. However, her going back, just like you did, won't help you at all, because multiverse again. Given how things have gone thus far, I wouldn't bet that it went all that well for ancient fuck-up bitch since everyone in this game appears to be a hardcore fuck-up.

TL;DR - You end up fucking the entire world with genocide, you eventually stop the fucking from continuing, but LOL, genocide can't be undone. You abandon your friends in genocide world to go back and try to stop said genocide, even though it won't actually help them since LOL multiverse. You stop genocide, only to allow an even bigger bad guy to fuck the world instead. You eventually stop the bigger bad and unfuck the world, which wouldn't have been fucked if you had just fucking stayed home and never done anything. You are an abject failure of a hero and should have committed sudoku at the beginning of the game and everyone would have been better off, but no one would pay $60 to spend 5 minutes to become the an hero
1 and 2 are the shortest to beat, takes like half a day to finish them.

It is a terrible teenage melodrama story smashed into a linear scenario with equally linear gameplay progression thanks to the awful sphere grid and somehow SOMEHOW they managed to top the awfulness of Triple Triad with Blitzball.

FF10 is when Square finally gave up any pretense of making JRPGs and went full throttle into the cinematics business (with game bolted on). Bad bad bad game.

Lulu can shake her money makers though. She's alright.
every FF is a melodrama with linear progression?

I also meant the battlesystem seeing the turn layout was really nice on top of the ease of switching characters. 11 'basically' had that but it would have been nicer to have the little turn graphic FFX had.

Who are your favorite villains? I've always been a fan of Baramos.

Also, more on a Kiwifarms note: I've noticed there's quite a twitter following for Hargon (DQ 2). A huge amount of chibi/anime fan-art and most distinct- a definite sexual attraction and some hardcore husbandu vibes. This is just one of a few accounts that idolizes Hargon and makes a ton of art for him.

Digging slightly deeper and you get drama about the DQ fandom vs bigender/queer stuff. All I know is Sugiyama got criticized for homophobia or something, and it's caused a rift in the fandom. Interesting stuff.

I haven't finished VIII, but so far I really like Dhoulmagus. He's a pretty active antagonist; he's not just sitting in a castle somewhere doing vaguely evil shit, no, you're actually chasing him across the world and trying to undo the chaos he's causing along the way.

Granted, I've only played I, II, III, VIII, and XI so my perspective's pretty limited. At the same time, Dhoulmagus allowed for VIII to have a more forward momentum than the other DQs I've played.

Been playing DQ11 recently, and I have mixed feelings on it. I'm slightly past what I think is the halfway point, and since I've sunk 40 hours into the game I feel like it'd be a waste to drop it now, but some things are annoying me.

Why are people still treating my character like a retard after all the shit I've done?
Why does the MC still have the ability to use the world tree roots and still have the hand symbol when he lost the luminary powers?
Why does your mom and Gemma feel so stilted when they meet up with you again? Where the fuck have they been since Cobblestone been razed?

Replaying 11 with a few Draconian settings added, some of them are just for fun like the Shypox and Super Shypox settings where everyone turns into a socially awkward mess. I also added on the No Shopping challenge, which might not be that much of a problem considering on how much good weapons and armor you can find and craft. There was an interesting spot early in the game that I wasn't sure how to deal with at first because you need to give someone an item only available in a shop, but I found out there was a second way to progress that bypassed that need entirely AND it was something I didn't know about in my first playthrough, so that was fun to discover.
Also holy shit I would buy this man's bathwater

Hes the best

We're probably getting another Builders game since Minecraft is very popular in Japan and the rest of Asia.
To be fair the Builders games are a nice blend of RPG and minecraft style building. The third island of the second game where you are stuck in the ruined castle and have to slowly build it up while pushing back each wave of enemies is a feel i've been trying to replicate since.

The latter would be awesome.

I was really hoping we'd get a new Dragon Quest Monsters. Guess that's not happening anytime soon.
I recommend checking out the demo for that Monster Hunter Stories 2 game. While obviously not 1 to 1, it reminds me a lot of Dragon Quest Monsters and is probably why I've been obsessively playing it rather than forgetting about it after ten minutes of play.

Oh, that is because of Builders.
Builders and XI had brought upon me endless tumblr faggotry and crappy arts and this pisses me off big time. Also, that bitch owes me a comission on Deviantart T_T

On the other hand, mobile shit Tact has featured a render of a boss I happen to like (cannot say who as people would either id me immediately or, worse, think it is one of the other girls, which is worse).

Stupid Squeenix, leaving me conflicted.

Hoping DQ 12 has a random encounters option. I know they can be annoying, but there's no suspense or resource management challenge whatsoever when I can just walk around encounters deep inside a dungeon.

I may be showing my boomer, but the days of ass clenching treks through the cave to Rhone and trying to reach the plateau shrine were some very cruel fun. (DQ 2 on NES)

Thanks to such shit, I had discovered that atleast in DQMonsters 2, if you open menu and scroll through items, you do not get attacked on the next step. Spend an hour doing that shit to save my ass once.
