i kind of see it like the original star wars films. if you grew up with them, you probably enjoy them in large part for nostalgia reasons rather than on the basis of their longevity or quality. if you're a full grown adult now with all the media in the world to choose from and have never seen them, then they probably won't impress you that much.

it's great anime schlock. it was made on a tight budget in the early 90s. and it eventually gripped a lot of american kids growing up who had this, sailor moon, and hamtaro to choose from on toonami.

one thing i do like about it is the idea of the anti-main character. goku's arc is that he uh gets stronger. pretty much everyone else in the show has a more substantive maturity/redemption arc, even though goku is the main character on paper. kind of a neat idea i think. i still can't watch it nowadays though.

i have no idea why you're comparing it to two hk action schlock movies.

imagine being this assblasted at some shonen anime.
Please no one tell him about mahou shoujos or bishonen ones, I'm afraid he may kill himself

No. That stuff is okay because it's not fooling impressionable young men into thinking that it's an appropriate expression of masculinity. It's okay to engage with softness. It's just not okay to engage with softness that passes itself off as hardness. The fact that you would read that and think that my issue is with Dragonball not being "hardcore" enough or some shit is very telling. Your dopamine receptors are probably completely fucking toast. Szzzzzzzzzz.

This scene from 1:22 to 1:28 has more substance than the entirety of Dragon Ball and all media (Writing, analysis, etc. included) that resulted from it.

Fucking damn it Justin Sevakis, just because you and WintersMoonlight are making out in the background doesn't mean you fags get to assfuck each other here on Kiwi Farms.

Maybe. I think you fags and your pisspoor wannabe attempt at newfag summer should go somewhere else though.

I don't know what none of this shit means.

But seriously, I never got to watch DBZ growing up since I didn't have cable, and only ever caught it a few times at friends'/relatives' house. Is anything Dragonball related actually watchable if you're an adult who's never seen much of it? DBZ seems bloated as all hell, but I did like watching all of Fist of the North Star and especially Yugioh 5Ds (okay, that's partially nostalgia even if they didn't play children's card games on motorcycles when I was a kid) as an adult as stupid, brain-cell killing, and ridiculous as those shows could get.
