Is the Super manga still going? How long are they going to milk it if so? I do wonder how honestly in the eventual sequel series to super how they’ll manage to write Goku to be somehow even stronger than Ultra Instinct, the whole narrative is that it’s literally his ‘ultimate’ form. Nothing is stronger than it, it’s the strongest you can be without being an actual omnipresent deity like Zamasu or Zeno? What kind of bullcrap will they make up?
They're just finishing up the Super Hero arc right now. I guess it'll either do its own thing or go on hiatus and then adapt Daima.

I've never really considered fusions to be forms/transformations in and of themselves, but I guess they technically are. What I mean is compared to stuff like Super Saiyan Blue, Ultra Ego, etc,
Yeah I think Vegito and Gotenks and other fusions are Unique enough in their own right to be considered transformations in of themselves. I mean just look at how powerful Vegito is by simply combining Goku and Vegeta together. The two strongest fighters in the universe become even better adding the together. I love the simple choice to invert the colours of their Ki too

Just tell me that’s not the coolest fucking design ever?

Yeah, Vegito is great but Gogeta is a notch above him, I just like the Metamoran costume a lot.

Based GT enjoyer
Yeah it’s way better than Super and I’m tired of the faggots complaining it’s not, barring the fantastic final fight between Goku, Frieza and Jiren which I’d agree with TFS is one of the series best fights. It’s a pretty mixed bag overall. GT never had awful recreations of movie plots and it’s animation was generally pretty much on par with Z and amazing throughout. Yeah it’s plots weren’t always great and the villains left a lot to be desired but it was still a good premise and a original story from beginning to end that felt genuine and from a time when the series was still about artistic integrity and felt fresh an new.

Super fucking sucked top to bottom
Nah it had some really great bits like Zamasu/Goku black arc and some great comedy but too much of it way too long and filed with horrendous pacing and padding. And many character designs that just do not fit with the Dragonball universe but it wasn’t terrible. I’d give it around a 5/10 possibly 6 overall. Jaky very middling mixed with some truly epic parts.

Everyone wants to say Goku Black was great until you go back, rewatch, and realize it was a stinking pile of shit like everything else in that God forsaken series. And don't even get me started on the manga.

Am I the only one who loved the three girls from Universe 2?
I did. I thought it was great satire. I've noticed some of my adult men friends tended to hate them though. Guessing that just comes from not consuming magical girl content as kids.

17 giving up and playing into their shtick cracked me up.

Zamasu arc started out fine but it really dragged and was full of contrivances even greater than what's normally expected of Dragon Ball, plus the finishing blow was sort of an asspull power up. On the bright side, the manga was a bit better.

The only DBS content I fully enjoyed were the movies.

Depends on in which sense you mean "love", I'm sure there's plenty of appreciation for them.

Maybe, who knows it’s been years since I watched it, I guess it’s aged poorly. I will say that the universe tournament arc was genuinely exciting and had one fo the best fights on the whole series. I mean the stakes where literally for all of the universes survival? Can’t beat that really.
Oh and this fight is better animated than anything Dragonball has ever done before, genuinely it’s a rare case of just one episode out of dozens of shit ones being one fo the greatest things ever. It pretty much raises the show from like a 5 to a 6 alone.

You really can't beat event anime. Seeing all those cities in Mexico stream the finale, with crowds of people reacting to it live made it feel bigger than pretty much anything that came out that year.

I watched Super well after all the episodes aired and the Goku Black arc was the most tedious part of the series for me. If I ever go back and re-watch I'll probably skip most if not all of it, kind of like how I pretend the Buu saga never happened.

The Tournament was very fun, but then again I don't exactly watch the DB franchise for its deep meaningful plot lines and in-depth characterization. The tournament style and silly adventure is what made me fall in love with the original Dragon Ball, so it was very nice going back to that format at the end. Also that final fight was just plain good, especially for the series. I know a lot of people hated the fan service (I liked it), but the choreography and visuals were just fun and exciting, the pacing was well done. The last push with Goku being a plain old super saiyan I thought was a very clever visual and an actually well done callback.

Honestly, I feel like a lot of the GT apologia in this thread is more a pushback against Super than genuine praise. GT wasn't made from a place of "artistic integrity". It was literally born from Toei being unwilling to lay their then-biggest cash cow to rest. The entire first arc, one of the longest of the show, was literally "let's make Dragon Ball again, but in SPACE!", but it was mostly fun. Baby was a genuinely brilliant arc, but the shadow dragons were stupid, and not in the fun stupid way the majority of the franchise is.

But you know what? It's a fightan animu. I'm not asking for perfection. I'm asking for well animated fightan, which GT offered in spades. Super, in comparison, tossed two terrible recap arcs at us, in poorer animation than the movies, I enjoyed Goku Black if just because I'm a sucker for new Kamehameha variants (Black Kamehameha isn't as hot as 10x Kamehameha, but it's still bretty good), and watching the initially sinister Goku Black evolve into Goku Faggot and get god-buck-broken was hilarious. ToP was eh. Universe Survival was too long, but had some great fights, which makes it basically Namek but Goku seduces Frieza to his side with the power of frosted hair tips.

In short, at the risk of being a faggot centrist, both have their ups and downs. Moro was a really fun arc I'd love to see animated, though, even if it was kind of Buu 2.0, aka King Piccolo 3.0.

Pre-Super I never heard a single amount of praise for GT, though to be fair this thread is probably the most in depth I've been a part of the fandom other than casual conversation and reading. I do distinctly remember a lot of hatred for in the late 90s and early 2000s when I was more invested. I'm not sure if that has changed just because of Super or if people have just gotten older and their tastes have changed, so they view GT differently.
