Honestly original Cell was pretty kino, but the android shit was meandering and uninteresting. I love original Dragon Ball because it just has this goofy vibe to it I can't pretend to not love. Like the Rabbit Crew, the Pirate Robot, I could go on.
Oh, yeah, man. Original Dragon Ball was peak Toriyama. Goofy kid humor with cartoon villains, bloody violence and pervy otaku humor. There's nothing like it.

It's so sad so many people only got exposed to Z, watching Goku grow up and develop is unreal. It's why I like GT in spite of it's shittiness, it has that vibe that I love.

I watched the series in release order, so I've always preferred the adventure oriented DB and GT over the action oriented Z and Super
DB is 50% tournaments(3 World Martial Arts tourneys+Baba's challenge) and 25% proto-Z King Piccolo. Literally, 3 quarters of it is not even vaguely adventure. Only reason the anime has proportionally more 'adventure' in it, is because it has a disgusting amount of filler.

GT is adventure for like 10 episodes where it's bootleg DB, which are the cringest, shittiest episodes in GT btw, before it turns into bootleg Z for the rest of the series.

'Muh adventure' meme has always been this weird thing where people are watching DB as tournament after tournament plays out and then come away saying "bruh it had so much adventure".
The actors of Z said their Kai performances were better too, but anybody who's heard a Vegeta or Piccolo speech knows that shit ain't true. Sometimes the people acting/creating are wrong about their own shit.
You can reasonably argue for certain very specific parts of the old dub being alright and up to preference vs the Kai dub, but it does not mean the general quality of 99% of the dub wasn't bad-to-mediocre. Writing, direction, delivery are all easily better in Kai, any argument to the contrary is delusional nostalgiafaggotry. Or nostalgiafagging over japanese dubs.

FFS the first funi dub started as thrown together crap made as fast as possible with literal who's, some of whom never even did any VA work before. It came to be because of some wacky shit with how partnerships between companies played out with the dub prior to that. It's exactly as bad as it would be, given the circumstances.

He literally fucks off for years at a time in time skips and grows up off-screen between arcs. There's no big depiction growth of any kind, just acknowledgement that growth of some kind happened in the interim blank period between the end of one arc and the start of another.

Hardly unreal. It's more underwhelming if you try to treat it as anything more than "it's cool that Goku is no longer a pudgy retarded midget (and that DB is basically Z at this point)".

80-90% of the most famous lines, speeches, battle sounds (attack names/powering up/firing ki grunts) are vastly superior in the remastered Z dub (Orange brick DVDs, I think, not the first run on Toonami).

There's a few instances of strangeness, because of poor writing to match lip flaps or something. Like Vegeta will drag out a word a little TOO much sometimes, usually before a rushdown. Other times there's just cheesy or odd, random dub changes which were always dumb and aged poorly.

Still, pick 10 cool or iconic scenes and compare them. Majority will be worse in Kai. I guess not unbearable, just inferior delivery.

I'd say a good chunk was mediocre, it wasn't perfect. The problem is the remaster didn't update Goku's lines for some reason, so some of his stick out as noticeably poorer against the redub. One in particular is when Vegeta is killing the Ginyu Force and he's like totally flat "hey Vegeta that bad mkay".

I'm not blind to the problems, I just see inferior shit like Goku's Kai SS1 transformation and everything about it is bad. The writing, pacing, delivery, the scream, even the music--dog shit. It's literally a bad scene in Kai, he's clearly overacting whereas it sounds natural in the previous dub.

Yeah, that was the initial dub. It's not just two, original and Kai, there's a (partially) updated dub prior to Kai and for the most part it fucks Kai in the ass. I think they changed directors for Kai and that apparently made everyone sound retarded, and they replaced actors with shit replacements (lol Gohan sounds like a girl just straight up).

It came out pretty good all things considered.

iirc Rumic played pretty fast and loose with Lum's hair in color illusts, too

Bulma could just be dying her hair, I think she changed the style often too. I remember it being in like an afro at one point or something.
