Late and gay but i really like the ending of salt factories video, with the mass effect team calling the dragon age team "incompetent children" that dont wanna write a dark fantasy beacuse its "problematic" and "makes them sad".

For a game that hates slavery, they sure as fuck never showed any of it. Even Tevinter , the nation of slavers, showed almost no form of slavery.

Tumblr woke cozy culture-Gaider and the original writers get criticized enough by it. By 2024 BioWare was totally immersed in the 'safe space" bubble.

You've got people criticizing Gaider because...he didn't paint the templars as one dimensionally evil or showed Anders' might have been a bit unstable.

BioWare's writers by 2020 were absolutely immersed in this culture of both constant criticism for "problematic" content and shielded from any other influence or criticism.

I never actually played the game-but Masters of Orion 3 had its own in depth lore space opera background-I was entranced. That sort of nerd passion is largely gone from the industry.

Are these all the writers just for Veilguard? Why the hell are there so many? No wonder the story is dogshit that goes nowhere and the writing is absolute ass, too many cooks in the kitchen.

Dombrow left in 2023, Feketekuty left when Veilguard launched. Kirby left in 2023. Kristjanson left in 2023.

And like @EmpGulcasa said, you follow the orders from above. If they want things written a certain way, you either do as asked or leave. Weekes is shit and was the lead, and of course even they had mandates from above regarding how to do things. Doesn't change how shit the writing was, or even stupid things like the characters needing to constantly repeat every proper noun once every 2-5 minutes. But that shit leadership from above is why so many other people had left bioware over the years in the first place.

Weekes really is the main mystery here, because he wrote some of the best parts of ME2 and 3.
The Gift must have really fried his brain to be the lead writer on this absolute shitheap with almost no redeeming sidestories.

A lot of Weekes' work that he gets praised over you can directly connect to Gaider reining him in. You can also see this with TLOU having a proper tard wrangler but TLOU2 not and suffering for it.

Even if corporate demanded more woke points I doubt they came in and directly demanded to make it as bad as it became, remember that they pulled the Mass Effect team in near the end of production to get that shitshow on the road and apparently they cut a lot of the snarky millennial writing. It somehow used to be even worse, but management allowed it to be toned down by the second team. This would've been pre-2nd term Trump and pre-Concord before the major backlash picked up speed in North America.

So EA can be blamed for the churn itself losing the team their trusted wranglers in their rush for more live service, but I don't blame them for the poor writing itself, that's on the writers who likely had some of the best pay in the industry and still couldn't manage their own stories, characters, and lore. Things that nerds on the internet do in their spare time for free, and do them better.

You'll also note how they gave it a 4/5, the GR thing is gamerant who gave it a 10/10, the opencritic scores ignore user reviews, and so on. In their minds it's still the perfect game, they just can't stop those evil fucking maga chuds.
 
Imagine Arcane Warrior in DA: O is so busted that got dissapeared in DA2 only to reappear as Knight Enchanter in DA: I and getting nerfed in SP (lol).
