Reddit is not pleased with the ending retcons.

Haven't seen much commentary on it, but its so galling.

This game has two purposes narratively.

1. Wrap about every mystery with some variant of 'elvesdidit"
2. Burn all prior bridges to set up the actual reboot in a future DA5
imagine keeping Loghain alive through the three previous games just to have some asshole swoop in and shit all over his character and motivations in Origins retroactively, for devs that said that wanted Veilguard to be a fresh start independent from the other games (as an excuse to not include choices from those games) they really couldn't help themselves from all of this shit spilling over.

Here's your (yo-oh wait wrong site. Though I do understand your point, keep in mind that their peak average player count is not only still higher, they most likely have lasted longer than DAVG will. Or not, it's still growing right now but we'll see.
The post I was replieng to claimed that the graph for Failguard was abnormal and I explained how it is not.
Moreover I said before that 70-80k concurrent players are a objective commercial failure for a AAA-Game

Its hilarious seeking the wokists on Tumblr attack Isabela for "oriental stereotypes and sexualizing POCs"

Like no joke they are complaining about her outfit being oversexualized and racist.
Crazy because I am fairly sure the only reason they put Isabella in that costume was because the Veilguard MUH OCEE donut steel companions were all designed before they decided what legacies to include in the game. So those characters get to have their samey design preserved but Isabella who predates them is the one who has to get shoved into the dancing girl outfit.

I guess I think it's weird that these troons felt so strongly about projecting themselves into these characters that they didn't even think to redesign they're clothing choices to allow a legacy character in a legacy ip to be who she is. Their OCs who are them cannot be touched, but the troons were were happy to shove isabella into a smexy smexy outfit. It's fuckin weird

At least i sacrificed my Loghain in DA:I to don't getting butchered in DA:V.
Keep the face up, hero of River Dane.

That's not even remotely close to tit armor and you know it.
A man's torso is not defined by society as "sexual" in the least. Otherwise, men would be required by law to cover up at all times. And way to just handwave away ridiculous male armor as "tastes have changed", yet still get pissy when a woman points out that the boob armor trope is outdated and retarded. So men are allowed to decide when armor designs are stupid, but women aren't, huh? God, you're a faggot.

Doomguy's armor in the original Doom didn't have the abs exposed on purpose: the box art clearly shows a thinner, underlayer was torn away by a demon's claws. At no point was he designed to look sexual, give me a fucking break. Name a game where the men are sluttier-looking than the women.
Look, just because you cant fit some sweet, sensual, sultry, big-booba armor on account of your obvious weight challenges, doesnt mean we (men) should bin the whole concept.

Look at the armor of some of these great women warriors of history and aspire to be one!

Maybe get a personal trainer. Maybe get on a diet. Something. Short of that, you could just go hang out in the man hate thread :)

Does anybody have some concrete numbers for Andromeda or Anthem? I'm pretty sure Anthem actually made profit, a lot less than they expected but profit nevertheless. Andromeda is a little more shaky and it sounds like they are only successful Alan Woke 2 kind of way.

Anthem sold 5 million copies. ME: Andromeds sold 2 million copies.

The whole Varric thing in this game comes off as really weird. I haven't played the game yet so maybe it makes more sense in game , but the idea that he dies at the start and Rook is just talking to himself in his mind whenever Varric is on the screen is totally insane. So somehow none of your companions bother to actually talk to you about your friend dying? WTF Surly something that dramatic has to come up at least once in conversation.

Varric got his arc complete in DA:I. Bringing him in this game only to kill it is basically at the same level as Batman in Suicide Squad.

Finally... Broody McBroodyDellamorte romance!

One, his head seems larger than those of other companions, making him look like a sentient Funko Pop.
Two, LOL he has purple magic wings. Again, they need to be bigger - much bigger - to work. Those puny wings coupled to his stumpy Mr Potato proportions are comical to behold.
Three, the voice screams more "ze darlin, drink zis drink that haz zome pillzzz i put inzide..." than smooth and angsty.

All in all, a rather standard and forgettable romance that tries very hard to be formulaic romance novel and safe. I think I'd rather bone the bone man in my first playthrough later.

Didn't even reach 90k. Sad!

I know there's a million games that are beating Veilguard, but I mentioned before that Kingdom Come Deliverance being among them was a nice thing to see. With launch weekend being over, I think it's safe to say that it'll never surpass it. At the beginning of this year, Warhorse announced that KCD had sold 6 million copies. I'm sure Veilguard will never touch that either.

Wild to me people still even consider buying bioware garbage lmfao.

Like, DA2 was shit. Inquistion was shit. Mass Effect 3s ending was so bad it retroactively maimed the entire franchise for me and tons of others. Andromeda was shit. Anthem was shit. Bioware has turned into a literal diarrhea faucet but people still turn up for their games for some ungodly reason.

Is there really that big a market for dumbed down RPGs with all the edges sanded off? Because you could just play some shit like Persona instead and at least that still has SOME edge to it.

No, the point is that there is a market for WRPGs from 15-20 years ago and people are so desperate for them that they'll play the modernized dumbed down ones in order to cope.

If DA:TV was the "Return to Form" all those reviews were saying, its launch probably would have been insanely successful, possibly BG3 numbers or better.

its fighting was subpar, but the world was FANTASTIC given it was "just" realistic history setting. No magic, no crazy races, just ye olde europe.
Man if bioware used KCD as a model to improve on, this would of never happened.

This is a good example of a really strange aspect of the cope of Schreier and his ilk. The game fails resulting in the development studio at best losing staff (and reputation) and at worst being shut down. The owning publisher not only fails to generate the desired revenue but almost certainly suffers a significant loss. In so far as they still have any credibility and/or relevance the reviewers running cover take another hit to that further reducing their future prospects. On the other side of things gamers don't get the game they wanted but also don't pay for it - they actually lose nothing and the chud cheerleaders with their youtube channels make hay generating views, subs and revenue. And we get to laugh at it.

The only losers here are those involved in the production and defence of this game. The "chuds" lose nothing. The level of self delusion on the part of Schreier and the rest of his fantasist cult is off the scale. It's almost as ridiculous as believing that a man can be a woman.
The only principle people like this hold is owning the chuds. They don’t know what you’re displeased with, or why, they just know that you "chuds" are "upset" so they have to defend a game like this, because it makes "you" "upset" and that’s good to them because they despise you. That’s all there is. What's worse is once you recognize how prevalent this mindset is in game discussion, and how it even affects the way some games are developed now. ("some"? "now"?)

Wasn't Tevinter the equivalent of the Byzantine Empire? With ancient Tevinter being the Roman Republic/Empire?
It used to be. Now it's a transgender cyberpunk land with violet lights everywhere.
Why are the clothes and armors in this game such an eyesore?
My girlfriend describes the art and clothing design as drag queen faggish and I felt like that was very appropriate given the lead dev. It's all a gaudy flamboyant overindulgent mess that feels less like fantastical armament and more like parody of what people might wear.

The only place troons flirt is on the internet, constantly and with each other. Mix that with the lack of self and autism and you get the Tash-Rook rape scene
I haven't even looked. It's a rape scene? That's weird.

I assume Flemeth, Leliana, Alistair, and some of the others are referenced in codex entries? Better that than no mention at all. What if Hawke died in Inquisition? Probably no reference at all lol.

So my understanding is the clothes are essentially a Lisa Frank acid trip? I can't believe it took this long for an actual fucking to robe and cape. This is unpopular but I actually loved the mage robes from Origins that you also see throughout 2 and 3. Despite being a literal spirit Wynne had curves and nobody was bothered by it because she was busy telling Alistair, Morrigan, and Ogren off like a badass lol.
