I clink my glass of generic, store brand Mountain Dew to offer a toast. Tonight our beloved has perished and we must say goodbyes. We will forever cherish the memories of the past, Dragon Age. We know Veilguard was not the real you.

With your body horribly mutilated by a rusty hatchet job on your private areas, DIY bathtub HRT, badly done tattoos, and poz warts... We decided that cremation was the appropriate choice.

Here's to the sales continuing to be mediocre, reviews be accurately negative, and your corpse never be dug up and abused further.

May you rest in peace with the Maker, you did not deserve the grave that modern Bioware groomed you into.

Fixed that for you.

This is horrible. I hope someone forces the new team to do push ups for letting Orson Scott Card author some of the Dragon Age comics since he is a devout Mormon and against gay marriage.

Morrigan convo. I'm distracted by how she keeps fidgeting around like she has fire ants crawling up her legs. The animation is so jank.

What they did to the Qun is an absolute travesty... It was very clear the Qun did NOT allow dissent or occupations outside of traditional gender roles. Everything was retconned to appeal to modern sensibilities.

The Qunari are treated as secondary fodder honestly. No mention of Par Vollen or Seheron, just...the Antaam is now Elgar'nan's bitch for some reason.

They are clearly never going to actually let the Qunari be a central focus-because they can't decide if they're great because trans rights or bad because...trans rights.

@Ishtar Inquisitor-Solas ending is the 1st one here. It's... not bad.
I saw it yeah. Solavellan fangirls...eat your hearts out.

I was wrong. The writers at Bioware made an ending just for you.

Now that I think of its, its the only ship in the franchise that gets this closure.

Warden-anyone, HoF never coming back, curing calling, plot never going to be resolved
Hawke-either in the Fade(dead) or never mentioned again, anyone
Inquisitor-anyone but Solas, who even are they?
Solavellans?

They get a special ending where Lavellan can walk off into the sunset with Solas, (even if its magic prison, they'll be together, forever).

My guess is that Dread Wolf was a game with a much larger scope and the Solas parts are remnants of that, and a lot of the rest of it (and the name change to Veilguard) was EA getting the team to salvage something they could throw out the door and recoup some costs after a decade of nothing coming together.

That seems quite likely. I would be genuinely curious what this game's development history was, and what was cut.

Part of the marketing shift from the Dread Wolf to the Veilguard may have been EA pressure "we want something out now" and so the de emphasized parts of the game that were cut/writers laid off/focused more on the companion bits as that was the only thing of substance they had. (However good that is, or not so good)

But it does seem like the Solas part of the game is where any diamond in this shitheap exists. At least from what I've seen.

The fact they added a Solavellan ending is proof enough of that.

Par for the course for BioWare. Witch Hunt DLC is a love letter to Morrigan-Male Warden romance, and a waste of time for the other Wardens.

No deep roads section, so Kal-Sharok is no a go. Every other game has had a deep roads part.

Wow.

(TO be fair...the deep roads anywhere further than say Ferelden) are going to be completely lost and uninhabited, but no Kal-sharok despite the mentions and war table quest?

Yeah.

Which is always painful for me, because I'm a Lelianamancer 9/10.

I do like Ariane and Finn as the DLC's companions.

Regarding the Qunari, People say they've been woobied, and this is true to some extent but its more like...they've just been sidelined the game is fine with them being antagonists but never the whole Qun-its the Viddasala, its the Ben-Hassarath, its the Antaam, never the Qun.

I get the impression the writers are afraid of actually facing the Qun square in the face and having to make a value judgement about the Qun as a society and religion. Are they some uber oppressive dictatorship or are they great because trans rights? Or are they bad because gender oppression? (Never mind the other stuff they do, the audience doesn't care about).

So we get (Kossith) companion characters, but the protagonist is never in direct confrontation with the Qun as a whole.

Aside from Patrick Weekes wishing desperately that he's a Qunari or he has a 65-inch knotted Qunari dick up his ass, why even make the Qun the center for trans and non-binary stuff?

Hello, BioWare? Rivain's over there.

I think it's clear this was the story they had in mind when writing the game, its always been their golden child. They wanted a solavellan sequel, and that's what they made.

The problem is there's so much worthless filler content to pad the story length. They could've wrapped this up in the prologue. The entire middle of the game could honestly be skipped.

Why would the militant arm of Qun leave? What happened to Crows buying slave boys to raise into trained killers? The dwarven proving bloodsports? Widespread use of slaves in tevinter? Oppressions of the magisters?

They selectively ignore topics that goes against "co-existence"
