I like how in Origins and I think DA2 as well blood magic was so dangerous and illegal that blood mages were hunted down and killed on sight.

Even the Grey Wardens who were essentially amoral hesitated to use it.

Now though one of the party members is a blood mage/necromancer just walking around shooting void bolts out of his butthole and nobody cares.

Even Inquisition kept that much.

It's been kind of remarkable to watch a series that explicitly set out to not be D&D morph into terminally gay abomination D&D has become.

I remember in DAO the legitimate hassle I had to go through negotiating with that demon lady, and how hyped up blood magic was, only to learn 3 very fucking underwhelming spells

Having all companions be pansexual is the most fucking retard shit yet. Idk about yall but i like characters to have a personality, a belief system and a defined sexuality. Like make them actual characters instead of sexual orientation blank slates. I swear whoever thought this was a good idea is probably in polycule and thinks this is how characters are. DA:I you had dorien that although a fag, he was a cool if not the best character in the game and he would politely let you down if you hit on him as a chick, same with Cassandra if you hit on her as a chick. Like having them reject you is a normal part of life and this fags just want to make every companion a literal fuck hole to choose from. Wont surprise me if they add the option of polycules or an orgy or some degen shit like that.

Apart from his Very Special Episode ... About Homophobia personal quest, he's one of the best companions in the game. I was really hoping with the focus on Tevinter he'd be a returning party member, but alas.

Inquisition, for all its flaws, might be the last hurrah for BioWare games with companions you actually cared about. I don't even know the names of most of the ones from Andromeda, and these ones look to be a solid mass of cringe.

Dorian is immature, whiny, and LARPing at being a reformer for the most part... but my god, the voice actor makes him work. I feel that this character wouldn't work as well as he did if someone else voiced him. The theatrics in his voice, the flair, the sass... Ramon Tikaram is AWESOME here.

As much as I dump on Dragon Age Inquisition's boring open world, broken story, and dumbed down combat system for the companions, Dorian, Cassandra, and Vivienne are actually memorable companions in their own right. It's all in the voice actors - they really make these characters work in spite of some of the clunky lines the characters would utter throughout the game.

Blood magic would be useless were not for Blood Wound. It stuns all enemies within a huge radius while applying damage over time for 10 seconds, without any friendly fire. This spell trivializes a lot of hard encounters on higher difficulties.

Edited to add: just remembered - been a while since I played this - blood magic synergizes very well with Arcane Warrior specialization as Arcane Warrior puts a lot of your mana pool in reserve. With blood magic, you use your life bar to cast spells, so the Arcane Warrior can cast a lot of protective auras and still cast spells without being hampered as much by a very limited mana pool.

I masochistically visited the dragonage subreddit and it is like /r/sigmarxism bad. Calling anyone who dislikes the preview a bigoted drama tourist. It makes the bg3 sub with its "ingame tattoo to cover top surgery scars" top post look like RPGHQ.
A decade later, where is the demand for a new Dragon Age supposed to be coming from?
I dunno. Baldur's Gate was a massive critical success, but its pay-once price didn't make that much money.
Maybe EA thinks BG3 fans can be convinced to become their new paypigs.
My nigga in Christ Origins literally had an enemy that was a flesh Golem made up of the raped and violated corpses of women.
Not women, female manlets. Finally midgets are useful for something other than becoming darkspawn broodmares.

This, voice actors can make or break a character. Take Astarion in BG3, if he wasn't so well acted, most players would stake the selfish fop before they saw the full story.

I doubt the game will allow the player to enact the Final Solution to the Elvish Question in Thedas to ensure that no other knife-ear or their gods tries to destroy the world again.
Easily solved with disapproval mechanics.

"Let's wipe out the Elves once and for all." (Party Disapproves -10)
"The knife-ears should be enslaved again." (Party Disapproves -5)
"You'll never be a woman." (Party Strongly Disapproves -50)

Skill issue. Blood Mage + Arcane Warrior was the strongest build in the game. Blood magic let you ignore the arcane warrior drawbacks and the aoe was the single strongest opener in the game. Like almost nothing could hurt you once you got the protection spells going.

What are the chances of a DA:O and DA2 remaster (with all characters turned gay and no-no words removed + morrigan clothed) as a way to nudge DA:Fag Guard numbers up before the inevitable closing of the studio?
If DA:Fag sales are massive i could see this happening.
Remasters of old IP's are such a popular thing right now and i don't see that changing anytime soon. And yes, they would censor the shit out of those games just for the free publicity alone

People want that shit for some reason but I can't see them putting in the effort.
If they do they'll make Alistair black with elf ears because Fiona, an absolutely ridiculous character, is apparently a poc. It was better when his mom was just a maid Maric knocked up.

Veilguard looks so bad that even PC Gamer is going "this shit look bad and out of touch.
snippet:
I don't know who Dragon Age: The Veilguard is for—it certainly doesn't seem to be RPG fans. BioWare gave us our first glimpse of the game in action this week, and while it was a big improvement over the initial reveal trailer, it seems to have completely shed its CRPG roots. As Josh wrote in his preview, "Dragon Age becomes what it was probably always destined to be: A Mass Effect game". If it wasn't already apparent from Andromeda and Anthem, this really hammers home how out of touch BioWare and EA have become.

When BioWare introduced the world to Mass Effect, it was trying to find its place in a world seemingly dominated by consoles. It's easy to forget that PC gaming was in a dire state not all that long ago, inundated as we were with poor quality ports and constant snubs whenever E3 rolled around. How things have changed. Now nearly every game launches on PC— frequently the definitive version—and instead it's E3 that's dead.

ME remaster sold well but it was a more popular series, and they only made changes to ME1 guns to make it more fun. Everything else was improving textures (already done by modders) and making the lighting worse. They never got around to multiplayer which was the most popular part of ME3 and was still active when the remaster came out, which is crazy.

DA has a different problem.

DAO, sure, graphics suck and they could remaster that giant game and make that Enchantment dwarf a romance option. Would they do all the DLC, and there's a lot of it:
* Shale recruitment
* Going back to Ostagar
* the Warden's Keep one that the guy in the camp tried selling you
- Darkspawn Chronicles
- something called Tale of Orzammar that I'd never heard of
- Leliana DLC
- Golems of Amgarrak fuck this one
- Witch Hunt

Some of it like Witch Hunt has tons of reused assets, but it's still a lot and fans will whine if anything is missing, yes even Golems. It would have to have strong mod support unless you want to play through the Fade in DAO again.

Awakenings needs bugs fixed more than remastered graphics, which won't stop Bioware from introducing new bugs.

DA2 has aged better than anyone expected because Bioware somehow got worse. Fixing combat so it doesn't all take place on the same 3 maps and getting rid of enemies randomly spawning behind you would be more than a remaster.

Add Bioware's modern reputation, loss of the talent that made these titles what they were, and all the downvotes on the Veilguard trailer/gameplay - what are the chances?

EA could just farm it out to a third party studio, but that's not working out with KOTOR so far.

Bioware fucked up with that since it means Alistair is half elf but looks 100% human so they came up with the dumbest shit ever to cover for it instead of just going "he just came out looking like his dad, genetic lottery ya know" but there are other half elfs out there who also look human but in the comics Slim Couldry has elfish ears so who the fuck knows
Fiona is a poc as far that she has olive skin?? IDK been a long time since I read her description that changes a few times btw

This is unfortunately something that happens when a franchise or IP jumps from writer to writer or team of writers. They rearrange good and evil teams and characters at a whim out of their own personal preferences. Things like the Warcraft franchise are dominated by bizarre redemption arcs of villains that neutralize all evil characters into heroes. Starcraft and Diablo as well so it seems to be a Blizzard staple. They take their favorite characters or factions and turn them into the protagonists or heroes despite it contradicting longstanding lore.

The adaptations of ASOIAF for Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon are the same as well. Take away all agency from the characters so that none of them can make any choices. Because it removes the possibility of them making evil or 'wrong' choices that might make the audience root against them. Which might hurt t-shirt or funkopop sales. They want the audience identifying with every character.

It's now at the point where practically every 'bad' archetype or faction like orcs or blood mages are now good guys in nearly every fantasy property. Good vampires and good demons and heroic monsters. And not done in a Terminator 2 way where it works out well. Or Darth Vader being redeemed. This is just more spiteful lore destruction and art defacing by losers.

I don't know why Fiona even exists, unless Gaider wants Maric to be his self-insert to bang all the knife-ear pussies in Thedas. Fiona breaks a number of large established laws about the Calling, mages, etc so by that definition she is a Mary Sue.

If I weren't such a sucker for spending with Dorian I would have recruited the Templars so that I will have the pleasure of destroying her in battle.
