Oghren isn't so bad in Dragon Age Origins. He gave the best talk to the Warden right before the final act:

"This is it, Warden. 'When from the blood of battle the Stone has fed, let the heroes prevail and the blighters lie dead.' As one of the blighters, I sodding salute you. Let us show them our hearts, and then show them theirs."

He is an unnecessary addition to the expansion though.

Current_Year is one of the few societies that have forgotten the link between children and having a future.

There is also an element of narcissism and self absorption with a dollop of self-entitlement. Just look at that atrocity Wish from Disney: the dumb Asha destroyed a kingdom that (a) has no crime rate (b) has open borders (c) has no taxation or any other kind of payment to the king for living there (d) a slim chance of having your wish granted in exchange for giving up that wish and forgetting it while still retaining the rest of your mental faculties and free will - all because the king said no to her.

I like Dorian, due to the ass and the voice acting, but dude ends his family legacy just because he has to be free or something. Even if marrying and expanding his family power base would actually help him advance the cause he claims to believe so much in.

I wonder how many people working on this dumpster fire killed themselves after they loaded up BG3 for the first time.
They were probably jazzed.

"We don't need to copy DOTA/Overwatch/whatever live service things is popular, we can just steal ideas from this!" why is probably how they were able to drastically change directions from a "kill the Justice League" style flop to a pile of garbage forced into a pseudo RPG.

They get a few extra dev years to make this, get to fill it with all kinds of Current_Year nonsense and don't plan on being around when it flops (or blaming it on racism/sexism/etc).

Not Enough.

That or the standard 41%. Take your pick on lazy jokes.
Their designs and art were clearly Celtic inspired, and in DA2 they straight up gave them all Welsh or Irish accents. But nah, apparently their are elves of every Earth race. Like, where did the East Asian elves come from? Where is Thedas-East Asia located? At least with humans they explicitly came from somewhere else and so basically any racial group could be justified.
I’m more amused than anything that apparently no one at Bioware twigged that making the race that’s historically been Slaves various minorities might be a bad look.

Granted I just assume no one at the studio has two brain cells to rub together anymore, so that helps…

Will the "everyone either has a place and a role in the society or get mindwiped" Qunari even allow one to be a non-binary? Krem is already pushing it
Krem isn't pushing it, the tranny broke it. But the commie faggots devs can't have an obvious commie allegory be 'bad' and not accepting of gays or troons so here they are anyway.

Not actually attractive. But the one modelled on Orlando Bloom as Legolas in the trailer.

i really dislike how we went from Sten to Iron Faggot and how the Qunari in general went from stoic and principled zealots to only these "exiled" quirky free spirit niggas getting all the screen time.

and i know by virtue that this companion being a "female Qunari warrior" that it's going to be on some girl boss shit, why can't these fantasy races just be "evil" (in other words: have values and social norms that most humans can't jive with)? you don't have to agree with the shit but that doesn't these faggot writers had to shit all over it just because they wanted to write manic pixie Millennial Qunari cancer in the Netflix show (i learned there was a Netflix show two days ago and won't be watching it).

i hope they don't add sten to veilguard.

let his^ basedness be preserved in our memories, and not perverted into filth in the upcoming game.

Classic spells like fireball/cone of cold are gone
But why?
Blood mage specialization gone. After three games of blood mage being the one thing people would want you dead for, finally we go to Tevinter and they take away the one specialization that would be acceptable there
Has anyone else noticed the correlation between increase in trannies in gaming and the decrease in decent magic/magic classes/anything to do with magic.
It's as if trannies hate magic. Skyrim, MtG, DA:V. Many such cases. Sad.

Here Lies The Abyss choice doesn't matter, so we won't see Hawke or Alistair.
Could be an issue with the VAs, more likely its because that choice alone has multiple outcomes. Hawke dead, Hawke alive, Alistair alive, Alistair dead, Loghain alive, Loghain dead, that random warden dude(Stroud I think) alive or dead. I think you should presume any choice where this sort of variable outcome exists-especially where characters can living or dead won't matter. At best you'll get a letter or something.

Fireball is so much fun, that's a reason not to buy the game right there.

You can be a blood mage in DAO and DA2, I'm not surprised though.

Companions are pansexual not playersexual, which is not much better. No word on a camp STD mechanic.
Say it with me, TUMBLR FANDOM. There is no other audience in mind here.

Writers love writing party banter so expect a lot more of it. If you want to know the quality, rewatch the trailer.
The best party banter is when it allows the characters to shine, which often means the characters not getting along. We're getting Marvel quips.

Modern liberal values prioritize self-expression and self-actualization(usually meaning being gay or trans) at the absolute expense of futurity-that is caring about or being concerned with the future, or the maintenance thereof, that is having kids and denying your own desires for tomorrow.

Dorian is a good representation of this actually-he wants to make Tevinter society less oppressive (he's a liberal in his own culture), but he has no desire to continue it via reproduction, only political activism.

The Qunari are brown coded, which means they get treated as uwu oppressed POCs, and if not that-then "nuance" boils down too "in the qun, your gender identity is like your job, not your genitalia". TBH its actually difficult to have Qunari companions that aren't exiles or spies or Tal-Vashoth, because they are always going to side with the Qun over the player. In both cases when we have a Qunari companion-they are separated from the Qun or otherwise distant from it.

Qunari were better when they looked almost metallic and treebark like; Bioware let Felicia Day run amok with her special snowflake OC bullshit too far and they thought it was a good idea for do-overs!

Can't get over how we've gone from the Arishok to whatever that last thing is.
Thr Arishok was so incredibly based and the DA2 Qunari designs were actually great. I wish they hadn't made them retard normie face freaks in Inquisition, getting to play a Qunari would have been the coolest thing about that game.

  • Sten: I do not understand what a golem is. Why would anyone create such a being?
  • Shale: Why would one create a sword? To strike at its enemies.
  • Sten: But you are no sword, golem. You speak like a living creature, but act like a possession. I do not know what to make of you.
  • Shale: (Snorts) I am no possession, not now that the control rod is broken.
  • Sten: No? It is still in your heart. Do you even realize this? "Age by age have men stood up and said to the world, 'From what has come before me, I was forged, but I am new and greater than my forebears.' And so each man walks the world in ruin, abandoned and untried. Less than the whole of his being."
  • Shale: It is a riddle?
  • Sten: (Sigh) It seems so.

I still think about this banter, almost 15 years later. We've gone from philosophy to Marvelshit. Perhaps that's one of the biggest disappointments of Veilguard: the characters. Not because they're trans or black or whatever, but because they're so fucking boring. There's nothing compelling about them. There's nothing about them that makes me want to mix and match in party selection, just to see the dynamics. In other games, even DAI, your companions may fight. They'd demand answers from one another, date one another, discuss things, make friends, express great distaste. For a game so desperately banking on the companions and romance, VG gave us the worst ones.

I truly don't care what gender they are or if they're trans or nonbinary or whatever. But they're just so fucking boring.

I'm still faintly shocked that after a decade of anticipation and years of in-game plotting and scheming, the best the almighty Dread Wolf can do is open another fucking gate in the first 20 minutes of the game.

That's it? That's Solas's big, Veil-rending plot? Oh, and it gets fucked up because of some dorky "rookie." Great.

There is a fundamental problem here in that Solas is a much smarter character than anyone on the current writing staff can probably deal with. I strongly suspect the title change is a gigantic red flag.

and no, it's John Waters
Meh, you're the one who couldn't tell the difference between a man and a woman. Looks like Vincent Price to me.

Even made the dude a necromancer.

These two posts go well together. Oghren was deeply dislikeable at the start but he grew on me over time because of the level of dialogue they wrote for him. I think at some point you learn that his drinking and behaviour cost him his wife, iirc, and he's just on a downward spiral from there. By the time you meet him, he pretty much just wants to die and end his misery and your quest gives him an opportunity for one final burst of purpose. It's pretty tragic.

From there, we get DA:I with Sera asking Cassandra "Have you ever punched a bear?" Which was one of her better lines.

Ain't the point of asexuals that you don't want to fuck anyone?
If so, just don't romance anyone!

Don't forget, they don't fuck, and also enjoy lecturing people about it and what being asexual means. Doesn't that sound like something fun to add to a game?...
