she was one of the writers for the WotR adventure path for ttrpg owlcat adopted. I haven't checked but I assume they credited all of them.
They would legally have to, wouldn't they?
Besides, Owlcat's WotR is so different from the adventure path if she were on the team she'd have numerous complaints.

Wizards of the Coast has completely raped Dungeons & Dragons to death at this point, and if you read their official books, the setting is nearly indistinguishable from the tone and aesthetics of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Conflict is discouraged, the players are expected to be coddled and shielded from triggering things, lots of Mary Sue POCs and snowflakes running wild, and total wipe of "nasty" stuff like slavery. Oh, and no baddies allowed - Orcs and Drows are now genderspeshul, and there are actually official modules about going to prom and running a fucking coffee shop.
tbh I really want a radiant citadel game, this shit will be even more hilarious that failguard.

This wasn't an engine limitation in BG3's case it was an intentional design decision.
he's probably talking about how 5e completely falls apart around that level. that's why larian capped it at that level even tho the rules go up to 20.

I assume it was just giving credit to the original writers (since there would be nothing to adapt otherwise) but like I said I haven't really checked.

Someone needs to rip this apart.

“Frustrating centrism”

“Oppressed and oppressors same level of scrutiny”

This is the Tumblr worldview at its most distilled.

In short this retard is arguing DAV is good because the narrative is forcing the player to go along with the assumed Tumblr progressivism. Not just preaching it, but denying any alternate choices to the contrary and calling it optimism.

“yeah it removes player choice and kinda whitewashes the brutality of the setting, but it makes us liberals feel a bit more cozy and hopeful in Drumpf’s second term so that’s good”.

@BlankSpaceBaby you ought to see this.
Ugh, I hate passengers.

WTF, every game in the series is like this! The first game started out with just two rookie Grey Wardens having to get shit together to save the whole country. It's not an option to just quit.
The whole thing is a bizarre article. The fellow lists down all the flaws of the game, doesn't necessarily disagree with them, but then just slap some conclusion that this game is the best ever because... it makes Thedas a better, happier place? That is the reasoning of a Care Bear.

Who is this guy? Let me pinch my nose and check his Bluesky...

LOL at Kotaku's parent company trying to right the ship of that shitty online rag, Good luck with that with tards like kenny still on the minimum wage payroll.

It did feel like a “well yeah it’s got its flaws but it made me feel fuzzy, so that’s great!”

SmashJT has details about Tranny Busche's hiring: https://www.smashjt.com/post/exclus...-by-wizards-of-the-coast-skeleton-key-studios

Key words:
- Rumor, grain of salt.
- Hired for new studio called Skeleton Key

- Nepotism: handpicked to be game director because he and the boss, former BioWare lackey, know one another

The new FAMILEEEEEEEE.

Maybe, if they don't want backlash, just... don't hire him? It's not like he delivered a gazillion-dollar success in the past. God, these people are retarded.

The reason they shut down Visceral games and cancelled a lot of projects they greenlit in the mid 2010s was because of that. EA wanted to shift their business to a GAAS only one. And now we're right in the middle of a market shift away from it because every GAAS game has flopped in recent years.
visceral was too expensive (like being located in LA, not making enough sales probably didn't help), they spoke pretty openly afterwards about it. plus by the time they were closed they already lost some key people after being stretched between hardline and helping out with need for speed (I think, can't remember if it was that game). there's a postmortem and some other articles for anyone interested. realignments like that happen all the time, but they didn't pull a sony.

the problem with EA is that they usually give studios they buy enough rope to hang themselves. they have no problem dumping lots of money, but they expect a return of that money. if you bring in the money it's fine, if not is where things get dicey either by getting closed or closer oversight leading to executive meddling.
the irony is that suddenly having "unlimited" funds and being able "to do everything" has the tendency to stall development and more importantly creativity hard (as molyneux described it, ofc it's not the most neutral source. but otoh 3d realms, ion storm and irrational games are other good examples for that).

that's not an defense of EA, they can be pretty retarded when you look at the whole dead space 2->3 debacle, but they also gave us games like mirror's edge and well dead space at some point. heck they also were more than lenient with giving money to respawn to get titanfall out of the door (only to fuck it up and make it xbox exclusive) and compared to nintendo for example have much less issue with fangames (as long as it doesn't affect their bottom line or you taking money for it), like giving their blessing to the renegade remake. heck there's even the story the best part of anthem came from an EA exec, not bioware (after the fake e3 trailer they showed they made a prototype and he was wondering why you only fly as a cutscene like destiny and not all the time, which in turn gave us one of the best iron man simulators).

there's also a lot of rose tinted glasses, westwood gets mentioned all the time, but most people don't even remember their last game, let alone three (a ps2 pirate game, c&c: renegade, and finally earth & beyond). so it's not like EA just nuked them because they felt like it, it was more they assumed the cow has been milked and that's it.
which makes bioware's vegetable state even more surprising, but then 2025 EA isn't 2020 EA. although there's rumors there's a major DEI exec in the higher ranks which would explain some things.

TLDR: EA is often retarded, but not necessary evil for just wanting more money. they're kinda like activision in that regard and less like ubisoft for example.
EDIT: I can already feel the trashcans :story:

BioWare is BioWare, Obsidian are gayer BioWare, as well as occupied with their own projects, OwlCat is unlikely do drop Unity, plus they're pretty much fully booked.
Tho it would be funny to see all of the BG3 normies buy BG4 only to be utterly dismayed by Owlcat's dysfunctional slavjank. I hope rogue trader ends up in a better place once the DLC cycle is complete.

He's not wrong that Veilguard is one of the most important games in BioWare's catalogue; he's just mistaken about why. It's important in the way Heaven's Gate was important to the auteur movement, or the way Airplane! was important to 1970s disaster movies: it's the installment that signaled total collapse.

This wasn't an engine limitation in BG3's case it was an intentional design decision. Mods to extend the game's level cap existed before it released. For example https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/377. It's the same with having only 4 party members there are mods that expand that too.
It was an intentional design decision because game balance starts to really fall apart past level 12, doubly so for a D&D game without an actual Dungeon Master to come in and say "you can't do x, y, or z". They also took great care to give a lot of low level utility spells usefulness in the world - which would be superceded by higher level spells.

If the folks at Larian couldn't do it - I'm fairly sure the stellar team that did Dragon Age - Veilguard has 0 chance. It's something I can see them thinking "this is a good idea" and completely fucking up the game by giving Clerics a re-castable version of Divine Intervention while fighters just get 1 extra attack per round.

Doubly so when you notice the little changes Larian made to the 5e ruleset to make the game flow better. (Potion drinking promoted to a bonus action, certain spells like Scry and Sending totally omitted, etc).

If those fuckers get their slimy, disfigured hands on my Owlcat Autism Simulators Deluxe i will fucking loose my shit. Pretty much the only RPGs worth playing and if they get even more infected than they are now i will just sell all my Gamingstuff and be done with it. Fuck that shit, for real.

Oh ya, I read that they are doing a Mass Effect live action. Really, though, any adaptation of video game at this day and age makes my blood run cold, especially when this one is paid for by Amazon, the same powerhouse that brought us Rings of Power.

What are the odds that it won't be another POC girlboss dyke sue that emerge in the first episode full awesome to take down 20 veterans single-handed while quipping without having to catch her breath?
