All else aside, I doubt getting shackled to the character is going to be a big factor one way or another in how this shit-show unfolds. It seems like most of the major Vtuber corpos give their talents short-term contracts of one-to-two years outside of a few notorious exceptions. The two big Japanese corpos, hololive and especially Nijisanji, have both lost some of their talents lately due to the actors just choosing not to re-sign. All of the big western companies have similarly had talents quit on them in the last year - one of them had an entire "generation" of new talents just exercise whatever termination clause they had all at once. Whatever else you might say about Merry and the other twinks involved, I don't see them doing anything other than copy-pasting whatever contract-language has leaked from the other established talent agencies like Vshojo, if for no other reason than Fred and Night Mind both having way more clout than Merry does, and probably having the combined reach to make his life online a nightmare if he tried to pull a Shylock on them.
