The reason Dove cannot approve this manuscript is that the main character is the victim of two apparent rapes while she is intoxicated. Even though Rebecca, being a Christian, repents for her sins of alcohol abuse and the sexual activities that happened to her, there are no consequences for the two boys that commit these actions against her.

But...real life doesn't always work like that. She did what she could.

This is like the Hays Code, with every bad guy having to have a clear punishment. That's not realistic.

"repents for her sins of alcohol abuse and the sexual activities that happened to her"
For Pete's sake, guys...

I'm more annoyed by the fact that they can't seem to decide whether to spell Rebecca with one 'b' or two.

On The Passion:

Muh Jeezus.

Show of hands: Who here is surprised they love Joshua and the Promised Land?

Also this is the first time I've seen the box art for this movie and wow.

What about them not wearing any clothes?

I think there are some adults who look at these just to see if a movie would be too offensive to them, not just their kids.
Even then there are much better websites for that sort of thing. Back in the late 90s and early 2000s there was a site like that called Screen It, though it was secular. Not sure if it still exists. And IMDb has user-submitted content warnings.

Still, I am not at all surprised they gave The Passion of the Christ such a glowing review.

Their review of The Dark Knight is pretty laughable. http://www.dove.org/review/7303-the-dark-knight/

I notice they categorize mid riffs and men's chests as "nudity" How do these people go to the beach?

This comment may be late so excuse me if it was, because I've read only the first 3 pages thus far, but...

I'm going to go ahead and assume that they don't have a review of 50 shades of grey.

Sorta. There's at least a page for it.
Effective January 1st, 2009, The Dove Foundation Review Team has ceased reviewing all NC-17 rated movies and certain extraordinarily explicit R-rated films. This decision was reached due to the fact that Dove reviewers are parents or grandparents with conservative values. As such, we feel that we can no longer expose these dedicated and caring people to movies that contain distasteful and appalling stories that are focused on graphic horror and violence, and/or gratuitous depictions of explicit sex and nudity. “Fifty Shades of Grey” is considered to be such a film. Our report is therefore limited to the business information (title, rating, distributor, producer, director, actors, etc), synopsis, and the content chart.

2001: A Space Odyssey is rated "Family Friendly"
...uh... what? You wouldn't want a kid watching that level of mindfuck.

Surprised, considering the themes. Do they interpret the invisible aliens as God or something?

Here's what they recommend as an alternative.

they give it such a glowing recommendation but yet in there review they only give it 4 stars http://www.dove.org/review/7239-space-chimps/
Looking through all the pearl-clutching makes me a bit suspicious. Can we be sure this isn't another Conservapedia situation where at least half the userbase are Poes trolling trolls trolling uptight Christians?
as fair as i know user cant submit reviews its all the dove foundation people (and they seem like a legit foundation) who review movies but you can pay for your movie to be reviewed (which im assuming is how cool cat got a review)

From the looks of it, there's no way in any variation of Hell that they're giving a review for Krampus. Shame, too, as it is PERFECT for Christmas.

Bastards.
