imagine living with this man. sleeping next to him at night. waking up in the morning to the coffee maker completely disassembled and him having a strokefest about "learning lessons and fixing". he turns to you, veins bulging. "WHAT DID YOU MAKE TODAY" he says. you look down and the floorboards have been painted red and black, with yellow chop-chop letters spelling your name (incorrectly).https://youtube.com/watch?v=SVqfbhcyc-I
Wherein Doug decides that the best way to drain his septic system is to pressurize it with compressed air.
Pay no attention to the fact that his through hull discharge valve is open.
No hose clamps and no-name filter housings made of 100% chinesium. What could possibly go right?https://youtube.com/watch?v=dufzALAWKlkAnother series offuck upslearning experiences where Doug fails to learn to appreciate the value of hose clamps.
I've yet to see an ABA clamp fail but that's beside the point, literally anything is superior to nothing but bare naked hose. For marine, high vibration or critical applications, hose clamps are garbage. Cinch rings are what you want. Hose clamps have a tendency to work themselves loose, especially if there's a solenoid involved in the system.
Do to his sea sickness last I heard the plan was for someone else to pilot the ship to whatever exciting/ scientific/ profitable /sexy port of call that would be their destination. What are the chances he pussies out and doesn't take it to blue water? Surely hes getting close (closer?)
I'd hate to see him cop out, but wouldn't exactly be suprised.
I'm not sure where Doug is going to find someone willing to pilot his floating pile of crap for less than free.
that's well and good but more importantly, you don't install an extra fuel / water separator of that size in line there and hope that your outboard's going to be able to pump the fuel through it. it's just not done by anyone, anywhere. it was a dumb 'hack' of an idea that had no chance of working at all, and in typical consumerist DIY fashion he's blamed the 'product'. he needs to take better care of his fuel.I've yet to see an ABA clamp fail but that's beside the point, literally anything is superior to nothing but bare naked hose.
Biggest issue with this style of clamp is overtightening. Who knows, maybe that will be the next dumb adventure Doug embarks upon?
It's a no-name filter housing off amazon. Even if he wasn't using it in a retarded fashion, it was going to end in tears sooner or later.and in typical consumerist DIY fashion he's blamed the 'product'. he needs to take better care of his fuel.
it's like he's put it on the blade of a knife.View attachment 3552756
Will this be the first sharp edge in Doug's undoing? Synthetic winch line frets very readily.
Doug I know you won't read this, but tugs don't use amsteel for working line because it has no stretch and therefore no ability to cushion dynamic loading. The nylon Samson recommends for tug towing and mooring has 8% stretch at 30% breaking strength compared to <1% for amsteel.
