I will never, ever understand why anyone could remove their own body parts, whether it be their package, or an arm or leg. I don't buy into that whole psychological bullshit where people don't feel like their arm belongs on their body or something.

Of course you wouldn't understand psychosis, but it isn't "bullshit", it's a mental illness, there is in fact a condition called body integrity identity disorder in which the sufferer feels he would leave happier as an amputee and in fact, they become happier after commiting said (speciffic) amputation. Also they usually don't understand that themselves and admit to be "crazy" but is just something they can't help.

Now about Thorn well, I don't think he has that disorder, the mysteries behind his alleged self-castration are... well, a mystery, I am sure a psychologist could make an intersting field study if could lay his hands on such a bizzare subject.

Yes, I have heard of BIID before and it is real (although I couldn't recall the term until you brought it up) What I meant was that the people who suffer from this do not need to be encouraged to harm themselves. It's like Munchausen's - it is an actual disorder, but that doesn't mean it's okay to have and one needs to fight these urges, like one needs to fight pedophilic urges. If a friend of mine told me that he or she had BIID, I would do my damnedest to talk them out of harming themselves because honestly, wanting to amputate yourself is fucked up. I've seen amputation fetishees who don't want to just cut off one part, they want to cut off both arms, or legs, or amputate all limbs and that is just... fucked.

I’m not sure how long ago this occurred, but Dorian made a post to SHYB about being a eunich. I don’t know the details, but there was a picture of himself, nude, with a useless stub of a penis exposed and a statement that it took him awhile to come to terms with his affliction but now he loves himself etc.

oh god ive heard horror stories of this. any serious doctor will not perform amputations unless there is a real medical need for it, so people with BIID usually have to resort to cutting it themselves or causing an injury that would necessitate removal of the offending limb. I read about one woman who threw herself on the subway tracks so that her legs would be amputated by the train. Another person tied off their legs at the thighs and then soaked them in ice water to cause hypothermia and gangrene. Some people...

I have a disability too, and a fetish base around it. I get creeped and pissed off when people say that X disability is sexy, that they want to wear/use paraphernalia associated with it, that they want to roleplay/elicit this disability in a temporary/artificial way, or that they actually want to effect this disability on themselves in a real, permanent way. These people think they're doing disabled people a favor by 'admiring' them, but it just creeps and pisses me off. I want to be respected as a person and treated like a normal person despite my disability. I want people to see me for me, not my disability. It's harder for some disabled people than others to achieve this, depending on the degree/nature of the disability. If I could get rid of my disability, you better damn well believe I would as soon as fucking possible.

I've seen people on DeviantART who does that. One person had a online persona of a quad amputee, though in real life she knew that if she was missing all her limbs she would be helpless and easily taken advantage of, so as far as I know, she has kept all her limbs intact IRL.

No, no. I didn't get the feeling she meant it THAT way. I mean in the sense that she would not be able to defend herself if her house was being burglarized and etc, or if someone decided to use her as a punching bag.

Though now that you mention it, I did come across a different person via the other person (being curious and poking around in this genre of art since different fetishes have communities around them and it's easy to find others of the like through one person) and the second person wanted to be rendered blind and limbless and used as a sex doll.
