I fucking LOVE Lee Hardcastle's animations; this is just the cherry on top for the seemingly endless wait of Doom Eternal.
I'm going to be playing it at 11:01 PM on the 19th. https://slayersclub.bethesda.net/en/article/5Wx9QeorMSfMZCwLg6VpoS/doom-eternal-launch-detailsI don't think I'm gonna be capable of sleep on the 19th;
I live on EDT so I have to wait until 12:01 AM. Thankfully(?) Coronavirus has ensured that I can stay up until then. I've already pre-ordered and I'm preloading the game on Wednesday.I'm going to be playing it at 11:01 PM on the 19th. https://slayersclub.bethesda.net/en/article/5Wx9QeorMSfMZCwLg6VpoS/doom-eternal-launch-details
How would you say it stacks up to Doom 2016 and how are the more controversial additions like a hub world?Okay, I played 2 hours of it (thanks for Mom and Pop's game store). It has a lot of quality of life enhancement like quick travel near the end of the map, though the levels are retardedly long to the point it raises the question why not just divide them into smaller levels.
The battles are similar to Doom 2016 but I feel like the weapons are a lot less impactful, though it might be because the game throws hard enemies right off the gate. There's a lot of extra abilities you get to the point of feeling like overkill and you don't use a third of them.
The game forces you to sign into battlenet for some bizarre reason.
There is some plot that feels like mixing Mortal Kombat and 40k.
Honetly the first 2 hours felt underwhelming. The gameplay is too much the same, the new tools feel superfluous and the extra features make it feel bloated. The arenas themselves also feel lackluster and feel way too chaotic rather than ordered in a way to encourage a specific type of gameplay. The game also takes its sweet time giving you new weapons.How would you say it stacks up to Doom 2016 and how are the more controversial additions like a hub world?
This is what I'm worried about when it comes to shit like the Crucible.There's a lot of extra abilities you get to the point of feeling like overkill and you don't use a third of them.
64 will launch along side Eternal.Fuck, had my Friday shift changed so I'll be working the evening it goes live. Seriously debating if I should sleep early on Thursday and just go through work on auto pilot after playing at midnight, ha.
Did they specify when 64 would be available?
Ultra Violence (hard) of course. Only a single fight really challenged me due to the layout being very chaotic with lots of tough spawns.This is what I'm worried about when it comes to shit like the Crucible.
I do wanna ask, what difficulty were you playing on? Because I get the feeling this is gonna be the deciding factor as to whether those abilities will actually be useful.
I dunno, this reminds me of enemies in games like Devil May Cry, like the Sin Scissors. There's a method to kill them in one shot (there's even a secret mission that entails this), but it's not necessary. It's the kind of thing skilled players can use to quickly dispatch them and save some time and energy, but the enemies themselves aren't overly difficult for average players to kill. I get that sense from the Cacodemon; if you're skilled at the game you can quickly kill them and if you aren't, then it's something to look forward to as you get better.Another thing I don't like is that some enemies like Cacademons have special conditions to insta kill (launch a grenade at his mouth, in this case). What it means in practice is that you only have one method to deal with it if you don't want to waste a ton of ammo and time.
Yeah, it seems like it adds depth.I dunno, this reminds me of enemies in games like Devil May Cry, like the Sin Scissors. Yeah LGR was told not to spoil specific things but there were a few things he showed that did kinda spoil a few things I was hoping to find out for myself, but to be fair he also didn't provide context so I'm still in the dark on the exact meaning of those minor spoilers.I refuse to watch any reviews cuz sometimes they casually spoil shit.
