We don't start fires but will laugh at people as they run around having set themselves on fire. Actually setting people on fire is seen as rather crass, particularly when people do a poor job of it and then come here to brag, though so is trying to put the fires out.
Lolcows' lives are tragedies in the Greek sense and tragedy is defined by protagonists self-destructing due to their inherent character flaws. Kiwi Farmers are merely the audience, watching from the cheap seats. We don't run on stage to interrupt the play for good or ill.

Donald tries to call the cops. It goes poorly as usual with the first cop he talks to who is a woman but then the police get a more understanding male cop on and they have a nice chat. Apparently, the police have 'dealt with Yaniv on multiple occasions' and won't take the complaint. Yaniv did, however, manage to get a wellness check on our hero Donald. Yaniv got told to change his number and was advised to get a lawyer and file a restraining order because the police won't grant a peace bond. The nice male cop says they are investigating Yaniv. They think they won't get public mischief charges to stick on Yaniv but they are investigating him for multiple offenses.

This cop says they're "compiling information and forwarding charges on many different offences for jessica yaniv...there's more than one thing going on" did I hear right? It's difficult to hear the cop's conversation fully as Donald keeps talking over him.
I'm surprised the cops release info lke that.

Yeah, he came across as patient and sympathetic.
I remember a while back a screenshot of a tweet or email where a female cop was quite open about yaniv being on the radar (as in the police were aware of yaniv's behaviour, more or less saying their hands were tied until a victim came forward) and that openness surprised me at the time also.
It did cross my mind that perhaps he was just humouring Donald but he said things that could come back and bite him in the arse I would have thought ie talking about there being ongoing investigations - openly mentioning yaniv's name..

Canadian cops are pretty chill if you aren't sperging out at them, and most criminal cases are publicly available knowledge once the trial begins, unless there is a pub ban.
I don't think it is all too surprising they'd say that. They could mean things like the weapons offenses which were already forwarded (and laid) and that they are compiling more information. As well police don't lay charges, they recommend them to the Crown but it is up to the Crown to decide if there is a case that they believe would have a good chance of a conviction.
I would say this would be an accurate assessment. Previously Donald was told by Langley RCMP that there are things going on he isn't aware of that they couldn't disclose the details of. For the most part I think people are too impatient and don't want to let the police do a proper investigation. If police had felt there might be a potential threat to children for example they can get a peace bond even in the absence of charges. That hasn't happened which may suggest the investigation may not be as clear cut as people might think. Just because people don't see the outcome they want at the moment doesn't mean police aren't doing their job. People just need to give the system time to sort it out. The last thing I'd want to see is a bungled investigation, a trial, and a person potentially walking free because the police didn't do a proper job.

Seems very odd for Police to talk about investigating something on the phone with someone they know full well will blab about it an post the recording on Youtube for all to see.

Eh, I don't see it as a scare tactic, more of a unspoken warning to Donald to just back off and let the RCMP do their job.
I totally agree. The officer said he had already spoken to Yaniv. He pretty much implied a warning when he asked Donald if he had made calls to Yaniv. Donald said no, but the truth is he has! Even if the officer knew it was going to be streamed it wasn't going to change anything. I think the message was "Donald, we understand the problem you are having with Yaniv but please lay off us and just let us continue doing our job"

I totally agree...Many times Cops will play social worker in situations like this, before legal means.
No doubt they've told JY he has no claims to harassment if he continues poking Donny.
I'm betting the Cops have had their fill of JY, & may just be giving him the proverbial rope.
I'm startin to feel like a kid & christmas anticipating the 5th.
