This. I'm going to consult my magic Autism ball and predict the future on this one, too:

It's going to be the same shit all over again. We, and presumably most of the internet, will not give a shit. A few Dr Who holdouts will complain - less because of the choice of a Female Doctor (already happened, BTW - several times no less), and more because this reeks of the same absolutely terrible decision making that the BBC at this point has become known for and the fact that this has every chance to fuck up like the previous similar cases (Ghostbusters for example). A tiny subset of comments that support the "Dr Who Fans Hate Women" narrative will be picked out and treated as they're representative of the norm when they're not. The new season will ultimately flag and attempts to portray critics as hating women will only further alienate a potential audience. All the while, we will continue to laugh at idiots who are trying to portray every criticism of this choice as evidence of misogyny and bigger idiots who see the change as an assault on themselves.

Eventually we come full circle and the entire thing bottoms out, the internet as a whole moves on, and nobody learns a fucking thing.

Considering Moffat is leaving too, I'm cautiously optimistic that shit won't happen. I'm hoping Chibnall just has a bit after regeneration where The Doctor grabs her new tits and goes 'huh.' in a non-plussed manner.

Then he writes her as the fucking Doctor and no Kill The Moon style dumbfuckery.

I haven't cared for Doctor Who since Matt Smith's second series, but with the downturn of writing as of late, I'm worried that making the Doctor a Woman might lead to too much self congratulatory back patting and a nod and a wink of See How Progressive We Are!

So, I'm basically worried that it turns into Ghostbusters 2016 due to the writer being a hack.
