That there's some degen cult that's central to the story? Okay, but couldn't they keep that a secret and reveal it further in the game instead, wouldn't that have a much better impact, especially if they were to make the trailers more traditional fantasy fare with some combat and heroism to give that more upbeat(?) impression to then reveal the dark secrets in game?
I assume it wasn’t meant to be a secret at all. In DOS2, it was pretty much in your face as soon as you boot up the game. I don’t think there was any plot elements in the trailer at all, that all seemed like established lore from the setting.

Didn’t really see anything DEI about it myself. That setting is pretty grim. And it’s not really a European-centric setting like the trailer made it seem, much closer to a traditional DnD world than something like the Witcher.

Yeah idk where people get that. It's like they see....houses and farms = Europe therefore must be 99% white humans despite being its own fantasy setting.

Nah, we're just being "conditioned" into liking nigger goyslop or something.

I'm of the view that the apparent normalcy of the degeneracy is meant to clue you in to the state of the world. This isn't some underground, secret cult shit – this is a family event.

It's clearly a medieval European-esque setting, from the architecture to the clothing, even the wickerman thing is explicitly European, stop pretending that this is somehow something you'd see everywhere because Eastern/African/American style of buildings/clothes etc. would look different and we'd notice that immediately.

It's completely out of place to have nogs/chinks/whites in one nation divided equally in numbers like that in any part of history except in modern society where it's been artificially pushed by migration(With all the issues that that brings), also you'd think that logically if many people of different backgrounds where to come together, there'd be more ethnic overlap and mixed bags walking about, and if they've been living like that for a long time without being divided and apartheid style separated, or with any explicit discrimination, then they'd be completely intermingled and there would be a ambiguously brown population, because it would naturally homogenize.

But no thought is put into that because the sole reason for having diversity in western settings(Which Divinity seems to be, if not completely, at least heavily inspired by), is completely political, there's no logical or in world reason that locals are made up of such a diverse cast, you're just supposed to accept that such a thing is normal, and to say that's not DEI is utterly asinine.
Because there's only one group so driven to do this, and that's the political left.

The fact that you look at that and think "Yeah, this is just generic fantasy applicable to any place", is to me evidence that you are in fact conditioned, to the point where you can't even recognize it.

If you look at any Asian historical or Fantasy setting, like Wuxia or samurai setting, you wouldn't find half the population in those games being blond, blue eyed vikings walking around in yukatas or kimonos like they're native to the place, because everyone knows they're not, and would cry out and call it white washing or out of place at the very least, and i bet the likes of you would do the same(although i'm sure you'll deny that now in response), everyone would understand that this is without a doubt, something the creators put in because of their IRL ideological views.

And hey, if you don't care about that, that's fine, but to deny that this is politically motivated or to try and gaslight others that they're being oversensitive and "Just as bad as woke left" if they notice and express a dislike of it, then i've got no choice but to assume you're either that far gone or just disingenuous.

EDIT: And this is all btw, within the context that Larian Studios is making this, and looking at their work in BG3, it's not a stretch certain political elements play a part in what we're shown.

But if this is all going to far, and i'm just going schizo here, can we then compromise and say that this particular aesthetic choice that modern fantasy games go for is from a "modern western" sense of aesthetics, both in what is shown, and the way it is shown, and that it's a particular style i don't like, and thats fine too?

@Eschaton Aggravate

The site isn’t letting me hit the reply button for some reason.

That’s why I said the trailer was misleading. It’s a sequel to an already established setting. While the trailer gives a European-centric vibe, the setting itself has a lot of different biomes/cultures, like the lizard people are basically Rome and the elves are tribal cannibals, etc. It’s more like a generic DnD setting, because cities/kingdoms are a mix of different races and it’s been that way for DnD since post-1st edition.

And I agree with you about the aesthetic thing. If a Witcher or Lord of the Rings game had a bunch of different race choices, it would feel forced and I would be annoyed, but the Divinity games haven’t been that way for a long time (before DEI was even a mainstream term).

Will Larian include the diversity options from BG3 in their character creator? Almost certainly. And if it’s not something you can ignore, than yeah, it’s definitely a skip. I’m sure other people will do so for that very reason.

I installed Divinity Origin Sin 2 again, and having not touched it in 7-8 years, the graphics and controls hit me like a brick.
It will take a while to get used to, but damn, it's always a shock when the rosy memory of something you cherished gets a shocking awakening.

Well... the moment fantasy or even modernity enters, you'll find out that blonde girls are extremely common in Asia, and that's before the green/blue/red/white hair colours. I mean if we look Anime, one could think a blonde supermodel is to be found in every Japanese High school. Plus Russians are all healthy albinos. Bro you really don't know your animu games.

It is a very skitzo mess. It is like you took celtic paganism/voodoo and gave it meth, acid and PCP with a dash of mushrooms.

Same for Pillars of Eternity. These indie rpgs tend to be very whacky.

I'm starting to think it is actually a trend, which I would call celtic-voodoo drug trip settings.

Maybe it is Morrowind's influence? Before that, elves were LOTR like noble snobs or tree hippies, maybe the occasional edgy goth elf or coal skinned slaver elf for WHF/DND. Those settings had more European/ancient civilised European (Egypt/Greek/Rome chud) styled cultures, maybe a bit of Viking added in.

Weirdo elves started with there and its Indian styled stuff.

If it was clearly European, it would be the Empire from Warhammer Fantasy, or LOTR, which shouldn't have nogs.

So rest and save your energy to sperg about games that will cone out soon, this will likely be an unknown for years. We'll know how badly it is pozzed or how not in 2030.

Divinity 2 is sick and on Gamebryo and that's all I know about the franchise.
you just reminded me of something.

like, zero fucking faith from larian's part on Divinity 2 :sighduck:
also, on steam discussions you can find the fan patch to fix the oldy tyme fuckery from Div2.

Div2Patch said:
Current feature list:
  • Includes the latest official patch: the 'Y-Axis HotFix' (v1.4.700.56/57).
  • Large Address Aware flag enabled in both executables (AKA the 4GB patch).
  • All internal frame limit caps from the engine are removed.
  • Added Fullscreen and Borderless Window checkboxes in the graphic options menu.
  • New 'CustomCameraFOV' setting added to globalswitches.xml. Allows to change the Field of View of the camera.
  • New 'PlayIntroVideo' setting added to globalswitches.xml. Allows to skip the intro video.
  • Keybinds can now be unassigned by pressing ESC.
  • Changed camera rotation method in human-form. This new method has no negative mouse acceleration and movement should be more fluid than before.
  • Fixed player rotation speed being tied to frame rate. This caused the character model to turn around extremely slow when running at high FPS.
  • New experimental setting 'DynamicCameraZoom' added to globalswitches.xml. When disabled, moving the camera up/down will not affect camera distance from the player anymore.
  • Improved the detection of extra mouse buttons 1 and 2 (AKA Forward/Back buttons).
  • A new in-game FPS limiter has been implemented (the old one was the cause of the camera stuttering issues).
  • 'Vsync' and 'FPS Cap' options are now visible by default without ticking 'Show Advanced Options'.
  • Fixed mouse scroll down bogus behaviour when used as keybind.
  • Keybinding to an already bound key is now possible.
  • Mouse middle button is now bindable.
  • Removed legacy keybinds that were hard-coded in the engine. One of these keybinds was the cause of player attacking when clicking left-alt key.
  • Keyboard key modifiers (control/shift/alt) of keybinds are now properly displayed.
  • Added new keybinds: 'Zoom In', 'Zoom Out' and 'Reset Zoom'. The new keybinds cannot be remapped (yet).
  • All hard-coded keybinds are now visible in the options menu. These previously hidden keybinds cannot be remapped (yet).

Did you only play the Original Sin games?
Those games are kinda goofy, cartoony and light hearted, so it's understandable.
I started with Beyond, it was a buddy comedy.

You can pick how you play in that RPG. The only difference being that you start in the employment of the Big Bad and you can swing your dick around, as you have authority.
Idk, I wouldn't describe it as a full on evil RPG
(re: Tyranny)
It's evil because it's cynical, this is what makes it evil, everyone in it is evil or too weak to matter. You can pick the flavor of evil but you can't be good by any definition (woke or trad or commie; note: there are no flavors of good). The moral of the game is you have to be evil to survive.
Some retard in the woke thread called it woke because it has wamen and dykes: it has one female sexual deviant and her "wife" exploits her deviancy and murders her for money. As for wamen, if you make a cynical and evil game where women have prominence (either equality or a separate but equal role) in an IRL world with many optimistic straight white male stories, this is not feminism. ("I don't want to look at wamen" is a valid albeit faggy complaint.)

Play tranny games, win tranny prizes
The last troon is correct, "we'll hire you but won't tell you the location" is fucked up. It would be THE tranny offer a decade ago because only they are terminally online to not care if and where to move. Any option Larian offered would be a tranny-friendly country, and more friendly to trannies than it was in 2015, it's only immense troon entitlement that makes them pretend to want a pick in 2025 (also, because troons have no real threats, every Western country simultaneously is the most troonphobic country: this one has prominent terves, that one doesn't allow a third gender, over there has long waiting queues for the cock chop, etc, so the whole "I fear for muh safety" is entitlement).

Dude, anime. Azns put brownskins (both negro caricatures and "animu but brown") in their "Western" fantasies, too.

Can't quote big poasts in full, select the relevant part and quote that.

re: trailer: you'd have to be an ultra retard to think it's an endorsement of wokism. HOWEVER, an IRL tolerance for degeneracy in the context of entertainment is not a virtue. The real issue is you almost can't make a "serious" fantasy story anymore. You know how "luxury" brands don't make their clothes in fat so that the brand wouldn't be represented by ugly deformed creatures? Fantasy is an example of that sort of brand destruction those brands tried to avoid. You can't seriously talk about wizards and dragons to adult consoomers (where the money is).

This is not a good sign! Christians (for example) would be not wrong to decry the modern culture which has thoroughly destroyed what is essentially a type of fairytale, and some of them might want "good people" to try and be the change you want to see etc and write wholesome stories even though they might not sell well. The conflict between edgy vs wholesome is related to and influenced by woke vs based but it's not the same conflict; if you're in the edgy vs wholesome war, don't call the other side woke.

It's truly amazing the mental gymnastics people will go to just to defend something instead of just going "yeah but I'll still play it."

Modern western is apt. Western medieval aesthetics from the eyes of people who can't handle how medieval societies operated. Hell they can barely stand any functional society.

Man after reading this thread I've come to a conclusion that you faggots are all miserable and just need to go the fuck outside. This thread is the talking to a wall meme manifested.

Ah, yes, the classic join a thread and act like you're better then everyone there.
I'm sorry, good sir, that we aren't up to your impeccable standards of discourse.
We simply can't compete to the high brow and electrifying discussion that you're used to, as a regular of the Pornstar and US Politics threads.

Tyranny always sounded to me edgy for edginess sake. I know that most RPGs like to cuck out of any real moral dilemma by having a third option that is good enough for everyone, but Tyranny choices sounded like "burn the orphanage down" vs. "infect the orphans with the bubonic plague".

Tyranny always sounded to me edgy for edginess sake.
It was inspired from Black Company books, and like with most book adaptations/inspirations, they failed at it.
It's similar to how some hacks reduce Dune to just sand planet and giant worms.

On a more on-topic(ish) discussion, I started playing DOS2 again and I forgot that this game has curvy women with big tits in very skimpy and sexy outfits.
That fact that this surprised me, made me realise how cowardly and faggy western developers have been in the past 5 years.
🙏 I'm really hoping gaming with heal and this new Divinity title will deliver 🙏

Tactician with Honour Mode, beat Dallis in Fort Joy.
Barrelmancy? Nah, nigga.
Deathfog? Nah, nigga.
Just a box on the stairs :story:

I'm not gonna post the whole video, because it's fucking long, just a small sample, showing who my team was and where I positioned myself.
I had two teleporters (one from gloves, another from Aero), because I needed to keep the undead Pets away, since they can teleport backstab for 100+ damage, and at level 5, that's more or less a guaranteed one-shot.
Teleport away, throw oil flask to slow down, pop totems to distract and just eat away at their armour until you can reliably CC them.
Not bad, for a nigga that didn't touch the game in years.

I'm just sad that theres a high chance my toaster can't run it when it releases.

The scarecrow fuckers in that oiled and wheat farm location with a tower is my bane because of them having fire spells. And the fire then spreads....

I'm just sad that theres a high chance my toaster can't run it when it releases.
I've thought about this and I won't upgrade my PC.
With how gay and expensive parts are now, building a >5000e PC to play a 60e game, isn't something I'm willing to do anymore.
These niggers will either optimise the shit out of it, or I'll just play old games and wait. Wait until prices for parts drop, wait until they make fixes, wait until they release everything and lower price, just wait. I'm also somewhat sure more people think like me then not, and hopefully we, the buyers, will trigger some industry changes.

The scarecrow fuckers in that oiled and wheat farm location with a tower is my bane because of them having fire spells. And the fire then spreads..
I don't remember that, but I'll eventually get there.
And since we're on the topic of this game, playing it again made me think I was too harsh to the armour system.
Having a much better understanding of it now, I prefer it over the chance based system of DnD, since it encourages tactical play.
But, I also understand that such a system only functions well with the round robin system (initiative is you>me>you>me) and I'd rather not see this again in the new title.

>asking for specs in gaytracing and fake frames era
come on now, most old shit is beyond cooked.
i hate this gay timeline.
In the AI era everything is fake, from framerates to hot milfs in your vicinity.
