I kind of presume the Social Worker thing was a cover I.D.
On a whim, I checked the wikipedia bit on the character and it does look like the way he is handled in the 'Lilo and Stitch continuity' does suggest he is still a government spook, in addition to being a legit social worker that has close ties to Lilo's family given his casual presence in the photos during the film's credits.

Either way, he's still the most positive father-like presence in Lilo's life as a result since the two other aliens are...well, the thin one's just an idiot and the big one is a straight up mad scientist who created Experiment 626 as a lethal bioweapon for the sole purpose of 'why the fuck not'.

So to get a black people to be a dad..you just have to have an Alien dog.

Who knew.

Wouldn't this actually be the reason Cobra regularly checks in, since someone needs to keep an eye on particularly Jumbaa especially since Pleakley no longer works for the Federation?

It's definitely implied that Cobra and the Federation do talk time to time, since the alien lady outright says they're going to do this when she declares Lilo's family are now under the protection of the Galactic Federation.

The pictures during the end credits have Cobra showing up for Lilo's birthday, watching a movie with the family on the couch, and also being around for Thanksgiving dinner, so he's definitely doing more than just checking in.

Courtney B. Vance cast as Cobra Bubbles.

Courtney B. Vance Cast as Cobra Bubbles in Disney’s Live-Action ‘Lilo & Stitch’

Vance joins previously announced cast members Maia Kealoha, Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, Kahiau Machado and Zach Galifianakis.

Courtney B. Vance has joined the cast of Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch as Cobra Bubbles, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Disney declined to comment.

Vance joins previously announced cast members Maia Kealoha as Lilo, Sydney Elizebeth Agudong as Nani and Kahiau Machado as David Kawena. Zach Galifianakis joined the cast in February. Stitch, naturally, will be a CG confection. Dean Fleischer Camp, the filmmaker behind indie darling and best animated feature Oscar nominee Marcel the Shell With Shoes On, is directing the remake that is intended to be a major release on Disney+.

I would have liked Ving Rhames since He was in the orginal. But this will do.

So Cobra still exists, but the big black man can't be a social worker and a secret agent who saved the planet. Jesus Christ, Disney...

This movie will be utter shit, I am convinced they have no idea what they're doing with it.
And Chris Sanders is shoved under the bus. *sigh*

Now you see why integrity has died at Disney since the 2010's.

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Honolulu Police Department has launched an arson investigation after a fire on the set of a major film production on Oahu’s North Shore.

Sources say it happened on the set of Disney’s live-action remake of “Lilo and Stitch.” Monday was supposed to be the first day of filming.

According to the Honolulu Fire Department, crews received a call just before 11 p.m. Sunday for the trailer fire at the intersection of Kamehameha Highway and Cane Haul Road in Haleiwa.
HFD said upon arrival, brush was burning beneath one of the trailers.

After further investigation, all the contents of the trailer were also on fire, including specialized costumes, sources said.
Firefighters worked to keep the fire from spreading to other nearby trailers.
A total of five units staffed with 12 personnel responded to the incident.
Crews were able to put out the blaze by 1 a.m. Monday.

No injuries were reported and no workers were on scene.
Shooting is expected to resume later this week.
The cause of the blaze is still being investigated.

I know this is Disney and all, but why are you guys so spooked over this live-action attempt over the others?
Can't speak for the others, but for me specifically, it's the Disney movie that means the most to me. It's like seeing a family member being slowly murdered before your eyes, and you can't do jack shit but watch. This is basically my equivalent of the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy - seeing something you once loved dearly being torn to pieces in the name of "DIVURSITY" and "GURL POWER".

I don't really care about this attempt personally like the others, but as someone from Hawaii I may just watch it to spite these dumb fucking haole mainlanders who know nothing about living in Hawaii outside what they regurgitate from social media complaining about muh native hawaiian representation despite the main characters being fucking local and having native Hawaiian blood.

The other day the actor for David was announced, and the usual suspects were moaning about how he's not "Hawaiian" enough, never mind the fact he attended the one private school in Hawaii (Kamehameha Schools) where you literally cannot be accepted into unless you have definite proof of native Hawaiian blood in your family. And they saw he used the no-no N-word in one of his Spotify playlists and social media posts...but unless you actually lived in Hawaii for a long period of time (vacations don't count) you wouldn't know that the real diehard locals looooovvve being wannabe joggers.

2 PG rated films: The Mario movie and Suzume are bringing in tons of money. With Mario movie close to a billion and Suzume becoming the 4th biggest box office anime film of all time. Will Disney's Elemental be able to beat both films? AntMan 3 was so ass Avatar 2 and Puss In Boots 2 were beating that shitty movie despite coming out before it. Disney probably thinks The Little Nigger will save the day.

The Rat is just taking L after L.
