This is a thread for the Disillusion games since there's pretty much zero discussion of this game in general. So I figured to spread awareness of it in anticipation of the inevitable Steam Winter sale coming up in a few weeks and for the few people here who already know the games can discuss here. Not even the 'usual suspects' are aware that this game exists, so I think it's a good time for this series to get some more love since I like it a lot.

For those unaware, Disillusion is a series(?) of oneiric dungeon crawler games made by Rick Tempest (known as "RIG" on the Agora Road forums or simply "Disillusion Dev"). The first game, Disillusion you play as a man suffering from amnesia whose only goal is to climb a strange tower to understand his true purpose in life. The second game, Disillusion ST, is a prequel that takes place before Disillusion and is about the genesis of that very tower where you play as a being known as 'Golem' who explores a dreamlike labyrinth. What both games have in common; is the Muse, Melpomene (often nicknamed "Mel"). She is the deuteragonist of both games and usually serves as the player's main ally.

Yume Nikki and LSD Dream Simulator are the most comparable games to these two, though games do feature actual combat and story. Personally, I recommend playing Disillusion ST first as the game serves as a prequel with far more polished gameplay and aesthetics and I believe that the dev thinks the same way too. The original Disillusion kind of felt like it was made as a shitpost while Disillusion ST really feels like a genuine passion project.

Trailers for Disillusion and Disillusion ST.

There is also going to be a new game out called "Life seeker" but it is still in early development. It appears to break the mold of the series by no longer being made in RPGmaker.

also the OST is kino af

I look at the promo art/splash screens/whatever that you've posted and I refuse to believe that the dev is not a tranny
I also refuse to believe this is not a tranny game

But you're saying trannies are NOT into this one, I take it? Curious.

OST is kino, true. Yume Nikki vibes, definitely
But the visuals are pretty hard on the eyes, not sure this one's for me

I don't use Discord but apparently the dev do have a Discord server somewhere in their itch.io page. So I guess if anyone can check, we can determine.

The game has absolutely zero fanbase, so it's hard to determine tbh. I'd like to say that compared to other RPGmaker games, it's pretty free of them and that's one of the reasons why I cherish it.

>trooncore ambient music & aesthetics
>"le epic nostalgia" ps1-esque artstyle
>Sadboi "what is reality" tranime vibes permeating the story

Every bit of promo these games have check every tranny red flag currently known to man. I'd be shocked if it weren't at least made by some brand of gendersped.

I don't want to spoiler the games but it's not really that. The lore is heavily based off of Buddhism (with some Greek mythology, like Melpomene) with the second game even taking place in the Naraka; aka Buddhist Hell. The second game is essentially the player exploring around a dreamscape in order to escape the Naraka cuz they sinned too much in their previous life.

More footage of Life Seeker.

So Eastern Mind and Cosmology of Kyoto? not really beating the troonslop allegations.
  • ape old 90s games in literally every department
  • somehow looks worse than the 90s games their apeing from
  • throw in a original character mascot
  • the main selling point is that its "weird"
Just play the older games.

Check out a snippet of the gameplay. I already beat the game it's uninstalled for my system so I am not able to record a short clip of it unfortunately but I do feel like the visual design works a lot better in practice instead of just still images.

It is a dungeon crawler after all. Reminds me of the old SNES era SMT games

Another update on Life seeker development.
