Aw man I always wanted to go to a fondue restaurant…
Sorry, I spoiled it to not ruin things for others; it’s on you that you clicked the damn thing.

Here’s the deal: the core concept itself is a bit of a scam. Your experience will unfold one of two ways: either your waiter will cook the food for you, in which case you’re paying a premium to watch someone else cook for you which defeats the purpose of a fondue restaurant (same with Korean barbecue), or you’re cooking it yourself in which case you could have done so just fine at home for cheaper (also like Korean barbecue). In either case, your plate of raw food has been sitting on a (rarely cleaned) serving rack for upwards of an hour. The effort of food prep and cleanup with your own personal fondue set is way smaller than the monetary cost and risk of food poisoning of a fondue restaurant.

The dishwasher was 75% the reason I quit that job (the other 25% being they weren’t paying me what they promised). The guy assigned as dishwasher would just run the dishes through, not bothering to make sure food was properly cleaned off before returning them to rotation. When I kept sending dirty dishes back to be rewashed, I was told (by management) to just wipe the leftover food away with a paper towel and stop bothering the dishwasher. He would also wet stack dishes (in Florida!) so a lot of the prep containers had a permanent green film (i.e. mildew). When I got put on dishes, I’d take the effort to make sure they were cleaned properly while making sure there were clean dishes ready for the line. Because I was never “caught up,” they’d have one of the line guys kick me off so he could power through (with the same level of cleanliness as the regular dishwasher) and have me take back over afterward; no discussion, no training. The third time that happened I went to my boss and told him I’m walking out. It was the first time I’d ever walked out in a job, something I’ve only done once ever since. It was bad enough that it solidified my decision to leave Florida entirely.

What a bunch of retardation, dishwasher are always cleaner then by hand, if you are not living alone and not having one your are pretty much just torturing yourself for no reason
Dishwashers do a better job of washing dishes than I can, but that's probably because I'm shit at washing dishes.
The bar for doing better than a dishwasher is so low you’d have to be a literal retard or a complete slob to achieve a worse result. The only advantage a dishwasher has is you’re not standing there while the dishes get “clean;” but it fails in saving time or effort, and is definitely nowhere near as clean.

I've heard some people clean their toilet brush in the dishwasher. I hope that's just an urban legend.
I've heard the same but with toilet seats/plungers. Even if false I've seen people unironically defend it... don't care even if you can prove to me the dishwasher is sanitary afterwards, that's fucking gross

Nice rethorical trick to frame anyone saying the dishwasher is cleaner as an idiot.

Doesn't make it true, dishwashers are hotter and can use detergents that are too aggressive for human skin, if you think you clean better by hand you are delusional or are unable to configure your dishwasher

Dishwashers need to do so in order to compensate for their inefficacy. You don't need scalding water and caustic soaps to clean your hands, which gather way worse filth than leftover food. The point of soap in the first place is to lower the surface tension of water to make non-fatty particles soluble while providing a intermittent medium for fats to bond to. The dishwasher needs to go above and beyond because it's using the same compartment for its rinse cycle as it does the wash cycle, without a break to actually clear away any accumulated food particles in the machine. In order to avoid this, you have to clear enough food from the dishes that you may as well save the extra energy of putting them into the machine itself and fully handwash your dishes.

I hand wash despite having a dish washer because I grew up poor
Washing machines use almost no water in comparison to hand washing. They fill up once and reuse that water over and over again. They also don't use very much electricity. They use maybe use 0.5kWh to 1kWh per load. That's like $0.10/load. They're more efficient than slaves.

YOU MENTAL NIGGER

When i live alone i usually only have one set of utensils: ie one plate, one bowl, one fork, one spoon, one knife, then I just hand wash.

Living with other people makes this a bit unreasonable, though.

WTF? You don't have pans, water bottles, utensils like spatulas/whisks/etc, appliances with cleanable shit like a rice cooker or egg steamer? You must live in poverty.

I use a air fryer if i need ti cook something, and i just out the bowl in it to keep it from getting messy. Youre right about the rice cooker, thats needs to be cleaned too.

Im not normally big on cooking, so i dont have many utensils i use.

If you have a ton of people coming and going from your house you'll quickly find a dishwasher to be a practical necessity

You can make this argument for any appliance - I don't understand why you'd object to such things unless your time and effort are worth nothing. I don't have a dishwasher, but I'm perfectly happy to use them when available.
it takes longer to wash dishes with the dishwasher than doing it by hand. you have to get the dishes clean enough so debris doesn't clog up the hose. It's maybe 10-15 minutes to clean a full sink of dishware. unless you're dealing with heavy oils or a grand dinner.
