Yeah the sidequests weren't too interesting, I guess? At least they cut out a lot of the walking from a to b though. And that they weren't so backloaded. Because, holy fuck, was it a slog working through all the side quests that come all at once at THAT point in the game. The only really memorable one was the time travelling kid meeting himself, I guess?

Also it appears there is no real postgame, except challenging the olympus 12 and royal knights. Also, did I miss something with susanoomon, you get a quest to get him to help, but then he just kinda fucks off?
That one stuck out to me too. Dropping 20 on you all at once was crazy, especially since it was pretty stingy when it came to doling them out prior to that part. You could've sprinkled two or three more in per storybeat and it would've made things flow a little better.

And yeah, that's really all there is in the postgame. The Olympos XII fight was kinda challenging, if only because you fight them all back to back. Royal Knights one was kinda tough too. They expected you to do a little grinding or to really take advantage of reflect skills. Susanoomon gives some bullshit excuse if you talk to him. Something like "I dunno how to fight in your world, so I'm just going to powerup the Royal Knights instead."

The Beatbreak anime's pacing is SLOW. The MC Digi STILL hasn't evolved after nearly 10 episodes, and I predict the thing will have 40+ episodes at most, and the plot is barely advancing because of the team still being too weak. Then again, one of the teammates has a champion digimon already, while the wolf-man with the sword (not to be confused with Wolvermon, the wolf/dog with machinegun arms), is somehow an Ultimate according to the reference book (as it's not mentioned in the show itself so far), which means he must die or be displaced somehow to raise the stakes. Hopefully things won't be rushed at the last minute (at least they didn't asspull a Super-Ultimate in the second episode, like the Digimon Adventure Remake did with Omnimon).

IT'S ALREADY BEEN TEN EPISODES????

IT'S ALREADY BEEN TEN EPISODES????
Its been 5. Also in Tamers Guilmon didn't digivolve to Growlmon until episode 8 and Tamers is generally considered the best Digimon anime.

I also don't really like that the group already has an Ultimate though. It just makes it so they have to make excuses why that character isn't around to solve all combat until the rest of the group catches up. Especially because Wolvemon kind of sucks as a Champion and gets out performed by two Rookies.

I said Nearly 10. I should have been more specific.

Fair, although it still feels somewhat slow, and Tamers also had a bit of padding.

Because of this. The party feels weak and they need their teamwork to be perfect (or have the MC unlock evos powerful enough to eclipse the others, kek). Wolvemon sucks and Gekkomon has protagonist status benefits, kinda like Guilmon. Gekkomon is all but ensured he'll get a dark digievo due to the protagonist having a negative digiaura, plus he went berserk already.

I’d been using Astamon a lot in Time Stranger to get Beelzemon, so it was cool to see him turn up in the latest episode

I have to ask what your thoughts are on each Digimon series? I've already seen Savers and while I think it's pretty good, it is somewhat flawed, especially in the final arc.

The guy that got me watching Savers has also recommended Tamers to me but none of the other series, so should I watch Tamers next or start with another series like Adventure?

You can watch Tamers first if you like. It's self-contained so you can enjoy it no problem and while it starts out kind of basic for the most part it really starts to get better once the kids go into the Digital World. Also has the most well-done emotional epilogue in my opinion.

But if you want to watch the first series where it all started with Adventure, that's fine too. It likewise suffers from a somewhat predictable formula with a new evolution form per episode at the start of the show it does gradually pick up more and peaks in my eyes at when the kids go back to the real world (the opposite from Tamers, heh).

For other Adventure-related series/movies, the pilot short/film is recommended to watch as good animation aside it also plays a key part midway into the show.

Our War Game is likewise well-animated and has hilarious shots like these:

Adventure 02 is very divisive and has a lot of plot elements that just get dropped or resolved out in a rushed manner that you can definitely tell as you watch along since the writing staff is a jumbled mess on that front but if just watching it for mindless fun/morbid curiosity it's decent enough. Also the weakest epilogue that a lot of the future Adventure/02-adjacent sequels have to abide to.

The rest of said Adventure/02-adjacent stuff is kind of weak. Tried watching Tri and Kizuna for example and just couldn't sit through it out of boredom. Can't comment on much else since I didn't watch a lot of other shows like Ghost Game or the Adventure reboot.

Go with your gut, if you ask me, then go watch the other series afterwards. I honestly feel like there's a season out there for anyone interested in Digimon, some are just more rough than others. Like AOKCraig actually kinda liked Frontier by the end of the show even though he recognizes the flaws.

I do need to get off my ass and return to Fusion, though. Maybe I'm just a bit disappointed the show is not like how the manga went so no Wizardmon to be seen.

We finally got an English dub for Ghost Game but it’s currently only available on BBC iplayer. It sounds pretty good from the few clips people have been passing around.

Still enjoying BeatBreak, looking like Gekkomon will be the last of the main cast Digimon to digivolve, since the preview of next week’s episode makes me think the bat will evolve in it.

Seems like BB is going with the Tamers route, but even slower. Gekko ain't that convincing compared to Guilmon, but the jury is waiting for his evolutions, when they happen at last because holy cow, isn't the show slow.

Gekkomon has officially Digivolved as of episode 12.
Rats, I wanted to comment that. *Stops timer* 12 episodes! That's a lot for a main character mon. Funnily enough, the girl of the team, as she already has a Champion, she won't get much character development anytime soon. Either way, Gekko's evolution reminds me a lot of Armadillomon's evolution, with a similar concept but waay more powerful, compensated for its low stamina allegedly, which is not an issue for a Partner digi with on demand evolution.

Trailer for the next arc has been released. A rival team and the overarching big bads are both being introduced.

The big guy's partner is a Gigasmon? I never thought I'd ever see a tamer partnered with a hybrid digimon. I wonder if we'll see any appmon or x antibody forms in this show.
APPMON? In CURRENT YEARMON? :story:
