Second episode is good! It's slower-paced, akin to Tamers, as the main Digimon companion hasn't digi-evolved yet (and he* actually needs to suck the MC's digital energy from time to time ala vampires). Reminds me of Tamers with some involvement from the human partner themselves. The literally obscured villain is probably Son Goku, aka the God-Monkey, because he looks like one and has a staff (didn't a monkey show up in Tamers too? Based on the Chinese horoscope IIRC, so I guess that one wasn't important enough).

*The fantranslation I watched insists on having Gekomon be referred as a "they", even though he's clearly a dude, as female digimons have visible traits to tell them apart, so this is pure troonery LGTB bullshit, for not to mention Digimon and partners almost always share the same gender.

Tamers was my favorite season, so I might need to check the new one out.

I'm probably 75% of the way through Time Stranger. So far, it's living up to my expectations. I think the monetization is a little obnoxious, but none of the DLC is something I'm interested. I don't think the plot is quite as interesting as CS or HM's were, but I still think it's pretty solid. The presentation is nice throughout and the game does a good job of feeling really big in scope. Has lots of little homages and references too, but always stops just short of being annoying about it.

The new animations and models all look really cool. Some attacks in particular are really impressive. Alphamon's Soul Digitalization is really cool this time around.

I also like that it actually addresses how human-looking Aegiomon is and him looking so much like a little boy is something that actually shakes up how the core cast view Digimon.

I do think that the dialogue can be a little repetitive, especially when it's coming from the Operator. She just says the same shit ad nauseum. The Agent Skills system sorta sucks. The "skills" in question are all just small stat buffs based on Digimon personality types as well as little bonuses in training. Which are nice, but I would've liked to see a little more variety. Skills that increase how quickly you can scan Digimon or something would've been neat, for instance. It also feels like it just sort of gatekeeps you at the Perfect stage for way too long. By the time I could finally evolve my team into the Ultimate level, it felt like it should've happened already. I wish the roster had a few more surprises or some Ghost Game Digimon or something, but overall the Digimon selection's good.

I'd give it a 7.5/10.

I'd like another Digi-tank Dungeon Crawler with complicated dna digivolution mechanics, but better graphics, faster animations, and less retarded game design.
Except for the dna digivolution part I'm with you on this.

I sort of liked this, Ultimate level should feel like a major mile stone since it's the pinnacle of digivolution. That said they might have held it out a little too long.

Agreed. It's a nice big roster with something for everyone, but at no point so far have I been shocked by anything. Except maybe for them adding Ranamon and Calmaramon and none of the other warriors from Frontier.

I think giving you Ultimate Digimon maybe one dungeon earlier would be nice.

But: Now that I'm a little further, I can say that the pacing sorta shits the bed towards the end. You get like 20 sidequests dumped on you at once instead of just kinda doling them out a little more naturally. But once you get these quests, you can steamroll from Rank 7 to Rank 8 and start getting Super Ultimate Digimon pretty quickly. They sorta nerfed ShineGreymon BM this time around, which is a bummer. But Dukemon CM seems a lot better than he was in HM/CS. So, I'll take it.

it is a nice roster, but it could have some the Cat from Tri, and really just more Digimon from the later shows, did we really need 12 flavors of Numemon once again?

Yes. They throw poop, that's fucking hilarious. Don't you like humor!?
sure that's not my problem, my problem is they take so much of the roster up, and there are so many cool digimon just left out.
I didn't expect the new Gekkomon to be put in but damn, but hey, we need 14 Seadramon's and 5 of the little Rock guy, and 34 flavors of Numemon, what was I thinking

They don't really take up roster space, they were just easy to add because recolors. So if there were fewer numemon, they wouldn't be replaced with other mons.

I love Seadramon, so I don't want them to remove any of his versions. SkullSeadramon is a sick new addition. He wasn't very good in the original V-Pet, but I always just thought his design was really cool.

But, yeah. I would've liked to have seen Meicoomon or Gammamon or something. Pulsemon would be cool too.

I saw someone posting the datamined and (probable) DLC Digimon on /v/ the other day. Three more Omegamon variants (X, Merciful and Alter-S), BlitzGreymon and CressGarurumon, Jesmon X and WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon X off the top of my head.

Also: Make sure you fill out the survey.

We do but we can't even get GigaSeadramon.

Yay more greymon, garurumon and omegamon variants. /sneed I hope that's not all cause just a bunch of fanservice digimon would be pretty fucking lame.

I just beat Time Stranger. The final boss fight is cool and it's nice that some parts of the final fight do change if you've done certain sidequests. And it really is crazy to see a Digimon game with so much polish and effort put into it.

But another ending where the timeline gets reset is kinda lame. It's so weird they've pulled this again.

I guess it feels a bit more fitting here than in CS/HM. But, still. Lame to see them do it again.

The link above has the listings. I was actually misremembering. It's:
CressGarurumon
BlitzGreymon
Omegamon Alter S, Alter B, Zwart D, X and Merciful Mode (Fucking hell)
Dukemon X
Jesmon X
UlforceV-Dramon X
Magnamon X
BanchoStingmon
BanchoLilymon
BanchoGolemon
BanchoMamemon
Parallelmon

Well some dukemon and bancho variants are a lot better, but fuck do people like omegamon that damn much?

Parallelmon is unexpected, he hasn't been in anything in 20 years. I wonder if they're going to reintroduce other obscure digimon.
I'm a little sad they aren't adding the Ludomon line, RagnaLordmon kicks ass.

Just beat the final mission + all the side quests. Very good game. Took me 56 hours to beat all the main content. Gonna take a break from it before tackling mega/mega+, filling out the field guide and collecting the remaining cards.

That's about how long it took for me. I'll probably fill out the field guide whenever the DLCs start dropping. I had 415-ish Digimon since I did do a decent amount of just evolving and devolving here and there.

I wish the sidequests had more weird swerves like a lot of the Cyber Sleuth ones did. Some of those went in some inside directions. Like the dude who had flower pics randomly showing up in his phone. Turns out, it was a Lilymon snapping risque selfies that somehow just came out looking like real flowers. And when he found out it was a Digimon, he was just like "Oh, I'm flattered. But I'm gay." That quest legitimately had me laughing my ass off.

Yeah the sidequests weren't too interesting, I guess? At least they cut out a lot of the walking from a to b though. And that they weren't so backloaded. Because, holy fuck, was it a slog working through all the side quests that come all at once at THAT point in the game. The only really memorable one was the time travelling kid meeting himself, I guess?

Also it appears there is no real postgame, except challenging the olympus 12 and royal knights. Also, did I miss something with susanoomon, you get a quest to get him to help, but then he just kinda fucks off?
