Do they already have Diablo IV in the pipeline?

Why the fuck not announce/tease that first, then say "play this shitty mobile game while you wait for the good stuff"?
Fanboys and drones say Blizzard doesn't want to announce it too early, cause they don't want to keep their fans waiting for too long.

Clearly, Blizzard has taken the better approach here :story:

I remember Warcraft 2 on the Sega Saturn had campaign and a bunch of scenario maps like one where the ai has a fortified wall but you start with like 200 units.

Come to think of it I've played a lot Blizzard games on their console ports throughout the years. The first time I played Diablo was on the ps 1.
was it multiple discs? I bought mine used and it was one disc with no case or booklet so maybe I just got fucked if they put the campaign on a separate disc/s.

Blizzard fans are some of the biggest sheep ever. Overwatch is one of the shittiest games I've ever played and they continue to cream themselves over it.

I'll believe a boycott when I see it.

The Saturn version was both Tides of Darkness and Beyond the Dark Portal and had all the cutscenes and campaign and I believe it was all one disk.

I am still pissed I never got a new Lost Vikings or Rock and Roll Racing game, that is the biggest outrage.

Yeah me too, it looked so meh when my mate lent me it. Pretty much everything about it blew my mind, the way it was it managed to pefectly integrate horror into a solid dungeon crawler. The menace of the Cathedral was palpable when you first went in.
You had no idea how far this place went down of what fucked up things where waiting down there.

Diablo 2 worked well, especially acts 1-2 where the open plains just made you feel exposed and lonely, the Towns really did feel like holdout strongholds in an increasingly hostile world and those terrible dark places where still waiting for you.

They tested the waters to see how they fare on it, First iirc was the mario runner, it received ok ratings, then they tried with Fire emblem heroes, welp that got uber ratings but then they stopped and considered "what IP we could use in mobile without our fans wanting our blood"? they decided that "none" picked Cygames and made Dragalia Lost that it feels like it was going to be a Zelda mobile games considering that the controls are almost the same as the two legend of zelda DS games, but they decided to change it, and people actually liked it

Nintendo has learned in all their story that grave mistakes are ALWAYS remembered and they cost dearly, lets be old fags and remember how Sega practically crushed then in the Mortal Kombat incident and more recently the huge backlash for Metroid prime federation force that they had to fix by announcing Prime 4 and the remake of Metroid 2

Thing is, Nintendo played it cautiously, they haven't released anything like SMB or a full Pokemon game exclusively for the phone, it's all been spinoffs.

That and they've teamed up with companies they've worked with in the past, so they've had time to get to know what each other can do.

I mean, we've had Magikarp Jump, which showed that they can laugh at themselves, and even if it's shallow as hell, it's a fun time waster. We've had Pokemon GO, which although not making the billions it made in the first year, is still keeping on making money, helped by the odd news stories generated by it, like the Japanese guy who went out to find Pokemon and ended up finding his missing cat.

We've had Pokemon Quest, which... will break even, it's pretty crap, we've had that Pokemon statue battle game, which made money, there's the Mario Kart racer coming out next year, which will make it's money back in the first month if it's solid.

Nintendo's still experimenting with it, but it's honestly paid off for them. But then again, they just do the announcement via press release, or in conjunction with other games, and then shut the hell up. No phone memes.

As far as I know, there is no Diablo IV. The Co-CEO of Blizzard stated at a Blizzon press conference: "Most of us at Blizzard have moved over from playing desktop games to mobile gaming, right now we have our best devs working on mobile titles"

Doesn't seem like a Diablo IV announcement to me.

Why would you ever admit that? At the moment you should be scrambling to churn out a teaser trailer for Diablo because you lost 10% of your stock in this clusterfuck.

Still seeing shill articles about how Mobile gaming is the wave of the future. Which is cute considering the PC resurgance over the last few years. The fact it isnt a binary choice and the the underlying truth that Mobile gaming is an bloated, corrupt, over-saturated shit show.

imagine being a farmer whose making a tidy profit on pigs who one day decides to sell them to buy sheep because a nearby farm is doing well with that and he figures he might make more money that way?

This of coarse all works on the presumption that mobile gaming bubble will never burst.

Imagine being the same farmer but all your customers are BBQ joints, and you do the same thing, and when all your customers are like WTF man we're a BBQ joint your response is "do you even lamb chops bro?"

I'm trying to figure out, say Blizzard becomes a "mobile title" company, would people actually show up for a Blizzcon featuring mobile titles?

No. These dumb bastards are pissing on a customer base willing to buy fucking plane tickets to have these autistic assholes take a leak in their face, and they decide to pander instead to people who have never heard of any of their products and couldn't care less.

I wish them luck in that.

Well, not really. I wish they crash and burn.

Yep, and Nintendo has a weird thing for getting into new technology, they always get late or simply dont want to get into messes that they are not used to it, i still see to this day kids asking why Nintendo has not do Virtual Reality already even when apparently the option is in the firmware of the Switch, the thing is kiddos they did it and was a disaster

So yeah always expect Nintendo playing safe and when they take risk like for example new IP is because they did their homework (Splatoon) after failing (Codename S.T.E.A.M)

Nintendo's tried to innovate in the past, but they're pretty conservative. DS and 3DS are massive successes, but the WiiU did... badly, for example. Not to forget the movie theatre thing, and the Virtual Boy.

Mobile gaming's going to remain a thing for a while, and we'll see Nintendo stepping into it more, but I think we'll see more new IPs and spinoffs, rather than say, Majora's Mask for Android and iOS.

Yeah the strength of Nintendo has always been doing "good enough" tech on the cheap. iirc they're the people who invented those shitty cheap RC cars that either went straight forward or turning in reverse and nothing else.
Famicom was cheap as fuck techwise, Wii was at least half smoke and mirrors. it's when they go apeshit like the gamecube that they fall on their face.
