Hellgate London was uh... interesting. A pretty mediocre shooter game, but at least it didn't take itself too seriously. I still want my own gyrating electric sword that shoots bees like that old crazy man said he owned.

Reading this thread reminds me that I still need to play Diablo 2. I played the first one for the first time a couple years ago and I liked it but 2 seems to be the one everyone likes. At the very least, the original 2 is still available and for cheap at that. I just hate that Blizzard decided to go down the shitter right when I got interested in trying their older stuff.

If you liked the original, hopefully the crust and age doesn't keep you from having a good time with the second. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if you didn't because it's so dated at this point. Last time I tried to play it, it ran like garbage, I had to play it on a tiny window.

To be totally honest, while I wouldn't mind a non-crap new Diablo game (not saying D2:Remake will be non-crap, just speaking hypothetically here), most of my Diablo nostalgia got transferred to Borderlands years ago. If Blizzard really wants me to fork over my boomerbux for a Diablo nostalgia reboot, they should buy Gearbox and remake BL2 instead.

The big issue I have with D2 is the resolutions. The art style is great, but the actual rendering processes were meant for Win 95 and old CRT's, and getting a quality upscale is hard as a result. I know Median XL and the bits that it possesses fix a lot of that, as well as other utilities, but still... a proper 1080+ resolution is something I'm looking forwards to.

anyone seen MrLlamaSC? on his diablo 2 alpha video, he ignored talking about the amazone. is he afraid people will call him a shill for not saying the amazone looks like a man in drags?

I never watched him like that but any time I've clicked on his stream (back when I watched gaming streams) or a youtube vid, he just seemed like a mega fence-sitting Blizzard shill. A non-controversial content creator though who doesn't seem to want to get involved in drama, I'll give him that. Rhykker is a shill too but he seems to not toe the line so hard. Tbh though I don't even watch Diablo related content anymore, just some observations. Most of them seem like shills who won't talk out of turn about Blizzard.

Median XL
that looks neat
does that work with a plain install of DII Expansion Edition or do I need to patch it first? Because I still have the physical discs I bought back in the day

anyone played path of diablo? i thought it was great at first but the server restart times were really annoying. than one day, the server had an update and deleted all my characters.

I haven't installed it in a while, but I believe the install pretty much guts and replaces your whole installation thanks to how much gets changed. Not like there's a whole lot to replace though by modern standards. Only a few gigs.

I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt of this one. The old look graphics isn't exactly making her look any less like a roided out troon. If anything the newer model looks more female in the face then what ever the fuck that old one looks like.

Looks like a white version of @Troonos :story: While the new one looks like a old man in wonder women cosplay.
Too bad Heroes of the Storm set this standard with Cassia three years ago:

This debacle just prompted me to reinstall POE for the new league at the end of the week, Ultimatum. I don't really like the early game POE or the dumpy enemies for the most part, but goddamn does it have way more interesting updates and side content to offset the mostly lame campaign and mobs. Heist, Delve, and the bestiary are all pretty fun and unlocking/running Lord's Labyrinth is something I wish Diablo had length & trap-wise. I was enjoying the ups and downs of D3 until they truly abandoned content updates; Blizzard should be fucking ashamed of giving up the genre to GGG. The bar was so incredibly low and easy to clear.

I still play D2 to this day with the plugy mod in SP (allows online events in Sp, ladder only rune words, and bigger, infinite shared stashes so you can trade items between characters like with mules on BNet)

Upside, no shitty bnet servers stopping me from MFing pindle 80 times in 10 mins.

Bad is it can be a bitch to find some items without trading. Really makes you appreciate how rare SoJs, windforces and fathoms are.

Maybe a Blackthorne remaster? Actually, that might not go over so well, since you're a huwhite man shooting proto-orcs to save your people.

or wait for D4
Did you forget who is developing Diablo 4?
They gonna allow modding, or shut all of that shit down? I wouldn't mind shelling out $40 if I knew modders could unfuck whatever Blizzard fucks up.
Blizzard is practically hellbent on killing Diablo 2 mod support. You're more likely to see a worldwide release of Mother 3 than you are to see mod support in a modern Blizzard game.

Turns out this remake will support mods.
