Holy shit, wow this is bad. They didn't fucking learn anything from Warcraft 3 Reforged?

So, are the OG graphics censored as well when used? Because if they aren't, then this just sounds like sour grapes coming out of Mark Kern for once, which is strange since he's usually a bit more on point with his doomerposting about modern day Blizzard and the game industry.
Looks like they upped the brightness in that area specifically. It worked for Diablo 3 (I liked it at least) because the art style had space for it. Like it or not, it was a more colorful game. On Diablo 2, the more muted colors require harsher lights. It worked with the old sprite-based game because the edges on everything were pretty harsh, but with smooth 3D models you lose some of that effect and things look muddled.Looking at most recent screenshots, like the rogue encampment, it just looks kinda...bland. I mean, not even counting the ugly characters, just the general ambience of it. Almost feels like a soul vs soulless meme
I'm probably gonna stick to playing the original. Just hoping that Blizz leaves that untouched and doesn't pull a WC3R on it
Learning doesn't print them money from nostalgia filled saps, and shills.Holy shit, wow this is bad. They didn't fucking learn anything from Warcraft 3 Reforged?
Doesn't Kern spend most of hist time grifting about his nonexistent mmo? I have a hard time imagining him being on point about anything, really.
Most people doomposting about the D2 remake give me the same vibe of 4channers looking for the next TORTanic to guffaw at.
While Kern does offer some unique insight into the industry given his past experience and he isn't necessarily wrong about all of the points he makes, I'd still take anything he says with a massive grain of salt since he spends way too much time on Twitter doomposting and harvesting clout from other people who are jaded about the state of modern video games.Ohhhh 100%. But I do believe him introducing Blood Elves as the pretty horde race for the asisn market in WoW first expansion. So I can believe his shit posting grips about D2 Remastered.
People who think this won't happen is naive. Blizzard wants you to migrate to nuBattleNet since it doesn't financially make sense to maintain the legacy servers. Of course they gonna force the upgrade to "ensure that the customer gets the latest and greatest experience that Battle.Net has to offer".inb4 all copies of diablo 2 are automatically updated to the Remastered version a la Warcraft 3, breaking any and all mods, destroy any and all old save files, and then the remaster is just the game but with more polygons.
The box art should have the skeleton in thick rimmed glasses with its mouth open in excitement.nuBattleNet
Oh god, don't get my hopes up!inb4 all copies of diablo 2 are automatically updated to the Remastered version a la Warcraft 3, breaking any and all mods, destroy any and all old save files, and then the remaster is just the game but with more polygons.

For real though, the amount of people saying shit like "I can't wait to relive my D2 glory days" is some sad shit. Like go play fucking D2 then. What's stopping you? Some old graphics/UI? Ever since when has that stopped the old school gaming breed from enjoying something? Oh no! It doesn't tax your $4000 pc and it doesn't have rtx/dlss!
Idk, most of the hype sounds like some mid-life crisis stuff to me. It's not going to be the same experience. Just like the ppl who thought WoW classic was gonna bring back those 'glory days'. I honestly hope it's a train wreck because watching people get constantly burned by giving nuBlizz money is the real entertainment, to me at least.
Don't forget navelposting.he spends way too much time on Twitter doomposting and harvesting clout from other people who are jaded about the state of modern video games.
CD keys still require battle.net access and they'll make you have a B.net account if you try and play online. Mind you Both Warcraft 3 and Diablo 2 were still being sold in stores as new the same year Reforged came out.Fuck this, sticking with my 20 year old copy of d2 and lod. Still got the CD keys written down and everything
Private/mod servers are a thing, you know.CD keys still require battle.net access and they'll make you have a B.net account if you try and play online.
Oh yeah sure if you just want to play the game with legendary drops cranked up so high to the point that hitting a single mob causes you to freeze in place as the framerate drops to single digits due to the flood of items.Private/mod servers are a thing, you know.
And if d2remaster ends up like wc3Resoyed then I can see a lot of those popping up.Private/mod servers are a thing, you know.
