Just play some of the better mods out there. Median XL is pretty much an entirely new game and adds a ton of endgame content. Better than shelling out $40 to blizzard
 
Is it me, or do the attack animations in the trailer look wimpy as fuck?

Also, count me in the chorus in wondering what the fuck is wrong with the Amazon's face. Why can't women just be allowed to be attractive anymore?

As a fan of the original, I ain't touching this, especially with how badly they fucked up Warcraft 3.

Don't worry they will force you to touch it unless you pirate the original like WC3.

That's what worries me. Thankfully, I still have the original discs lying around, so in the event that Blizzard screws the pooch like they did with WC3, as long as I don't touch the multiplayer, I should be fine to just do a fresh install.
 
They gonna allow modding, or shut all of that shit down? I wouldn't mind shelling out $40 if I knew modders could unfuck whatever Blizzard fucks up.

If Starcraft Remastered is anything to go by then it'll be a massive pain in the ass to mod for very little benefit.

blame metzen, because he's a faggot and has been destroying blizzard a long time now, they even fucked up the assassin and her harpy mode thingy. niggerfied the paladin and made sure the barbarian had some sort of chromosome disease, niiam neeson'd the druid and left the necromancer alone because he probably could resurrect the lost vikings and blackthrone...

Why would anyone bother with this when Path of Exile, Victor Vran, Wolves of Midgard, Inquisitor: Martyr and probably a dozen other Diablo clones exist? Fuck, why bother with this when the original Diablo 2 has aged reasonably well due to coming in at the very tail end of 2D graphics in computer/video games when 2D art and sprite work had fully matured? Early 3D is bowling shoe ugly and the character models in this remake look even worse somehow.

It's because of nostalgia. Simple as that.
 
Unironically the D2 economy was one of the first things that got me interested in economy and making money, I'm not very interested in video games but this remake looks horrible. Nothing looks better in games than quality 2d and the kids these days are groomed af by the Big Game to believe that this cartoonish 3d crap looks good

Cause to this day, all of those are just methadone to the heroin that is Diablo 2. Diablo 2 is one of those games where I've played so much of it, like Civilization 5, TF2, and Minecraft, there is a familiarity with the game that makes playing it comfy.

I didn't like Path of Exile, haven't gotten around to the others you've listed, but of the Diablo clones I've played and liked, but they aren't the real heroin(Titans Quest, Torchlight, Diablo 3) the one that came the closest to being that comfy is dead and gone.

Marvel Heroes. 😢

Grim Dawn is pretty good. It's not f2p garbage like Path of Exile, and there's more stuff to do in it than many other D2 clones.

Doubt you'd like it as much as Diablo 2, but if you liked Titans Quest, it's worth a try.

That and the 40k one has been on my radar. During lockdown I went back to Torchlight 2 and Titans Quest. I couldn't get into them.

Despite his middle game (Hellgate London) being bizarre trash, David Brevik seemed to be the key to exactly what I want in a Diablo game (project lead on D2, creator of Marvel Heroes). I went after my post to see what he's been working on, but it looks like complete indie trash called It Lurks Below.
 
Reading this thread reminds me that I still need to play Diablo 2. I played the first one for the first time a couple years ago and I liked it but 2 seems to be the one everyone likes. At the very least, the original 2 is still available and for cheap at that. I just hate that Blizzard decided to go down the shitter right when I got interested in trying their older stuff.
