The game mechanics overhaul in the D2 remaster is something I can really do without tbh. But I guess it's the best shot I have to play D2 again...

Thing is, I expect that game to be ruined by modern garbage politics being shoved into future expansions, if they already toy with the idea of adding stuff.
Fuck my donkey. We've reached a point where people adding content to an old game makes me less interested in said game.
Quick question regarding this as I have not looked it up, luckily it won't affect me either way because I have my Plugy install saved to a thumb drive. Did Blizzard lock down the original version of D2 at this point where you have to play D2 through the stupid Battle.net launcher on the remade version of the game?

Can you still download and play the original version of Diablo 2 or are the cattle being herded toward nu-Blizzard's worse version of the game?

You can still play the original with no problems thankfully

First Genshin and now this. At this rate the governments of the world will put Videogaming on a leash.
The UK government is already trying to leash these shitty practices.

Leaves me conflicted, these practices are shitty, insidious, and manipulative, but governments also love to overreach when given the opportunity.

i hate them.

At best they'll go with the Path of Exile model. At worst? I can't even imagine. But yes, there's 0% chance there isn't some sort of massive in-game shop on launch.

It's almost a certainty they made more off the D3 RMAH than they did selling the fucking game. Why not do it again? 80% of the people saying how much they hate Blizzard and the direction of Diablo will be buying it at launch. Destroying a gaming franchise is impossible.

I know you just made this statistic up but I think it's a realistic ratio of people who exhibit this behavior among the general public.

There's something in people's minds that makes them think they are going to miss the next great thing if they aren't consooming every little bit of culture they can - even if it means falling hook line and sinker for scams such as microtransactions. I just don't understand why it is so hard for people not to participate.

There's a trend I see among sheeples who  feel they need to consoom lest they be seen as uncultured. I never understood the behaviour myself.

Every day it just keeps getting worse, and to think Blizz has already turned a profit from the release. At this point the genie has already been let out of the bottle and predatory microtransactions are going to be a part of most if not all future Blizz games, all you can really do at this point is stay clean and let the weak willed niggercattle get milked for all their worth.

And that's even moreso, given that Asians, namely the Chinese and Koreans, love to whale in Pay-2-Win games like this. It's going to not just make profit, it's going to feel like a money-printing machine.

OK, I'm really going to need some actual citations on this being pay to win. A lot of arm flapping about dropping four, five, six figures to max out a character, but very little about what that actually means - viable for end game? The only way to progress past a certain level? Or is it just a bunch of sweaty grognards whimpering over a few stat points difference?

this is an addendum to the first video posted

watch the videos i posted. Its not just 'viable for endgame' but dealing with the 'systems' in place. Josh Hayes does loads of breakdowns on MMOs and mobile games with a fair 'this game is fun but this also happens' towards the micro transactions.

He obliterated New World and this game is looking to get the same treatment

I saw that second video on crests, and there has to be some law that they can get spanked with. That is some serious bait and switch bullshit that should be criminal.

The countries coming out the strongest against this are in the EU like the Netherlands/Germany IIRC. The U.S. should absolutely be spanking these fucking companies but why would the Congress represent the people?

it's so fucking dumb...an actual problem preying on people and they couldn't give a fuck but I'd also wager they have no idea or go 'LOL THEYRE DUMB AND DESERVE IT STUPID POORS'

Here's a timestamp of the larger video showing why 'the crests' are such a big deal. 2 minutes...please watch lol
