Apparently Belgium and the Netherlands won't be getting the game because lootboxes and all. Though that would surprise me because they changed Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm so that any IP from those countries couldn't buy them. I was never locked out of either of those games so they'll probably change that too.

The problem appears to be related to loot boxes, and specifically laws against them in those countries. Dutch gaming site Tweakers(opens in new tab) (via Google Translate(opens in new tab)) reported that a few days after Diablo Immortal pre-registration went live in the App Store and Google Play, it was disabled in Belgium and the Netherlands. An Activision Blizzard rep told the site that the removal was "related to the current operating conditions for games in those countries."

The matter was further clarified by a message shared on the Diablo Immortal subreddit(opens in new tab), purportedly from a Blizzard support agent. "Unfortunately players in the Netherlands and Belgium will not be able to install Diablo Immortal due to the countries' gambling restrictions," it says. "The loot boxes in the game are against the law in your country, so unless gambling restrictions change the game will not be released in the Netherlands and Belgium."

The message also warns that it's illegal for citizens of Belgium and the Netherlands to download the game from a different country, and even if you don't get busted for your scofflaw ways, you might get banned—although "in similar situations in the past where RNG loot boxes were against the law in certain countries we did not ban any players for it," the rep added.

I've only done the tutorial and I'm already not liking Immortal.

Diablo's art style is too dark and monochrome for a small phone screen, it's beyond cluttered, you can't tell what's going on half the time and you can barely tell where you're supposed to go without the mini map.

I know Diablo has a pretty decent story, but this is a fucking mobile game, which one of you faggots on the dev team thought stopping the gameplay every 30 seconds for another cutscene was fucking cute?

Gameplay wise, it doesn't feel like anything other than a slightly reworked Diablo 3, aka mindless button mashing. That's a pretty big turn off already.

I'll give it more of a try later, but if you start a game with a tutorial this insufferably bad, I don't have hope for the rest of the game.

Edit: $25 for cosmetics, in a game where you can barely see the player characters, god damn. I'm a cosmetics whore and even I think that's beyond overkill for some nicer looking pixels.

It's out on PC now and holy shit is it dull. It's not terrible, it's just really boring and pointless. Maybe the game opens up later and maybe there's more of a challenge but as of now I haven't been paying attention at all and haven't died yet. This is making me want to play Grim Dawn instead.

Hard to believe it's only been four years since this sub par shitter clicker was announced

I can't believe anyone actually downloaded and tried this turd tbqh. The more downloads Blizzard gets, the more they will feel empowered to shit down your collective throats in the future.

Saw the review by Mrllamasc and a bit as he played. Diablo 3 on ps4 was fun for a while since the controls were very good. D2 remake is ok since the latest patch.
This one, oh boy never going to touch it, looks like ass from 6 years ago.

Good to know Diablo Immortal is free to play. Because at least I'm FREE to not play it.

What I have been wondering about Diablo Immortal, is why are streamers whaling the shit out of this game, as I don't see that much longevity to it, and the sheer amounts of money people are spending is crazy.

See they have to show us how P2W it is despite dataminers weeks ago have already done so without spending a single cent. Also if you want to play this game without p2w garbage and better graphics, there is always Diablo III.

I've been playing for a few days and it's not too bad.
The p2w stuff sucks, but (so far) it hasn't been super intrusive. Plus I think it was really just supposed to be a rival to Lost Ark in Asia anyhow. That doesn't excuse it, but it's about what I expected.

As for the game itself, it's pretty good for a phone game. I still like Diablo 3 more, but for what it is, Immortal is pretty fun. If you took away the terrible p2w stuff, I'd probably be praising it as a great mobile time waster.

I guess the biggest praise I can offer is that I like how they handled the gearing system so far, and my biggest gripe is that they need to let you zoom out on PC. It feels really claustrophobic sometimes.

I'm still hopeful for Diablo 4, but I'm a bit worried too.

Lost Ark unironically broke them.
This is a funny (and probably true) idea but I still fail to see why. I've been playing daily and the only thing I might want to buy with cash are costumes, and most of those are purchasable with in game currency.

I watched a little of asmongold whaling the game. He showed the difference in running ftp rifts, and running rifts he'd empowered with $20 worth of currency.

He got fuck all from the ftp rift, while the ptw rift got him a bunch of gems and other shit. It was disgusting to watch.

He was also running a ticker on screen, he was up to $500 spent after 30 minutes when I tuned out.

Seeing as I can't play the game here, I too have been watching his streams just to see the dumpster fire for myself. I might jump back into some Diablo III with the next season, and forget this one exists. Don't think that'll be hard to do.
