I picked it up and have been playing it off and on for the past couple of days. It looks great but I'm not convinced it's worth the money. The only real change I've seen so far beyond the graphics update is to the stash. It's an improvement, sure, but I still feel like I'm playing a game I outgrew 10 years ago.
It was always going to be a visual update, with a few minor QOL tweaks. This was actually a selling point.

I don't know why people keep being surprised by it.

I have come to bump an old thread with great news! Blizzard has fucked up. Again.

I at first believed they were about to sow the seeds of destruction to the space time continuum by releasing something and not fucking up doing so, but with my online sorc I spent days on gone poof into fucking limbo I realized Blizzard had forseen this future and fixed the timeline by fucking up their servers. The status quo is restored and all is right with the world.

Except me. I'm fucking pissed. Where the fuck is my sorceress Blizztard Entertainment?

This is not an excuse for Blizzard, but this glitch has happened like 3 times the past few days. Every time their servers have issues, online characters disappear. Your Sorc should be back when they unfuck the servers again.

The server issues have put a real dent into my enjoyment. We finally beat hell last night but I basically have no motivation to keep playing, every time I want to play the servers are fucked for a few hours.

Every single day at the time you play tends to do that. For me it's morning time when I have some peace, it has gone down literally every day for the past week. 3 weeks into release.

Blizzard is a small indie dev, give them a break.

Seriously I have no idea how they fucked up this launch so badly.

Diablo 2 multiplayer was absolutely catastrophic back when it launched. Battlenet was borderline executed pointblank with a hellfire missile.
Took them almost over half a year to get bnet running „ok“.

Its apparently not hard to get a refund for PC, so if you want you can go that route. I am thinking about it, the server issues have been pretty disheartening. I did get my moneys worth IMO.

Now a general thread since IV is on the way, and some people might need a place to point and laugh at Immortal.

What do you mean they're changing D2R– Oh.

Well, surely this is being met with backlash because we faithful few grognards don't want our modern remaster to suddenly receive meta changes all these years later– Oh.

(:_(
The reddit Diablo community has always been garbage. Any criticism of Diablo 3 was met with extreme hostility no matter how nicely worded and valid. I'm not surprised to see that they haven't changed. FFS I hate zoomers.

I'm done with any new entries or remakes to this series. They're making changes to D2R now, it's not even their game. 🎩
It's understandable if their goal is to keep the game fresh and enticing for new players. Even tho the remastered is good, it's still the 20yr old game only with updated graphics. People already got a taste of PoE which some people claimed to be the worthy successor of D2. D2R somehow needs to keep up and offer something at least at par of what PoE offers (quality of life features, build diversity etc.) or else people will just go back to playing PoE.
I think blizzard should have just made it a "remake" instead of "remastered". They can still keep the classic D2 game available with the old graphics and gameplay. The remake on the other hand, they can put whatever changes and redesign all they want plus the updated graphics. This way, people wont have any reason to whine about the changes.

I can see D2R going down the path of D3, which I hope isn't the case, because I do plan on picking up the game at some point (maybe during this holiday sale actiblizz are having). Just as far as gear goes, all that happened in D3 was they made set pieces king and added more damage to everything patch after patch, which in turn made everything viable/capable of facerolling all content. It's fine to have shit gear, gear that's "off-meta". All power creep does in the long run is make a game boring. D3 is an idle game at this point.

I'm not an OG D2 player but I can see why some purists don't want the game touched. On the other hand, this isn't 2000, if there's no changes then D2 will just fall by the wayside with all of the other competition with their updates keeping those games fresh. D2 isn't the only ARPG on the market anymore so they need to mix it up to keep up. I just hope for everyone's sake that they don't stray too far from the path already laid out by the original. They're treading a fine line, though.

Just want to add something about what the other dude said: "They're making changes to D2R now, it's not even their game". Lol, the Diablo franchise wouldn't be the game it is today if it wasn't for Blizzard acquiring Blizzard North (formerly Condor). David Brevik himself stated that Diablo was supposed to be a turned based game and will be done in claymation. Imagine that. It was Blizzard who came up with the idea to make it a real time arpg and in 3d.

Vicarious Visions made D2R, a studio not even peripherally involved with the original. Blizzard is generally agreed upon by most people to be at best a shell of it's former self. None of the original staff is still around and Activision wanted a cash grab so they hired VV to remake Diablo 2 who had no prior knowledge of the game and rebuilt the whole thing (with added load times!) and are now changing it.

Paying Blizzard at this point is the same as paying modders. I would argue that the modders are doing better work actually and deserve your money more than Blizzard does.

I stand by my previous statement not their game.

Nope. That's not how things work unfortunately, unless we live in a world where you can just own something just by claiming it to be yours based on the majority's opinion lol. How cruel would that be? Imagine owning a car but some retard forces you to hand it over to him just because he and others think he can drive better than you lol.
