I used to be center-left and this was the case that started to radicalize me. I argued that it was probably more about the school's overzealous zero-tolerance policies than racial profiling. I was in middle school when Columbine happened so I experienced that billshit first hand. I was of course chastised as a racist for that.

Ehh, disagree. I would rather that Whick have raged out over being caught in an obvious lie or when trying to defend Dev violating one of his standards; all the Grok summary did was permit Ace to gish-gallop and cause Whick to immediately become hostile and it pretty much derailed the entire debate the first time it happened.

Ace definitely needed to do a little bit more prep work for the stream about Dev's principles and used those to actually focus the conversation. Without it the debate was just off-topic sperging about J6 and the ICE shooting and Ace rehashing why the beef with Dev started beforehand. The most he got out of Whick was a "well, maybe Dev just has low standards" defense.

All in all, poor showing and I half-expect Dev to gloat about this on his next Weekly Seethe.
 
I don't think it was a bad showing from Ace. I would not recommend using Grok to filibuster your opponent, but it did seem to shut Wick down when he went on some moral tangent. I think Ace is the winner here, but he could have been a bit more graceful in regard to accepting Wick's points. Dev is likely going to make a response to this saying that Ace is deranged and bad faith, but it's pretty clear that no amount of evidence would be enough to change Wick's mind. Again, I think this was solid performance from Ace, but not the blowout that everyone wanted it to be.

The gloating is the worst, however. Didn't watch the video, but I wonder if Devon was hiding or what? He has no ground to say a word about this.

Ace, if you're going to be the only guy who gives enough of a shit on this issue to be the main spokesman for it, you're going to need to hold yourself to a higher standard of excellence. You shouldn't be making it so pathetically easy to just dismiss what you're saying out of hand because "Muh AI bot". Even if what you're saying is factually true, it needs to be both true, and impossible to ignore.

In my defense I'd say I had already proved how dishonest Whick was being in his defense of everything else by him going "oh I just don't know" and "what if Dev just forgot" with regards to all the evidence I kept providing. Once I demonstrated that I figured I might as well also get under his skin and make him rage.

The issue wasn't to prove Whick's dishonesty or even to prove to him that Dev's standards are nonexistent. The point of the debate is to present the best argument for your side to convince the people who haven't made up their minds. And while filibustering with Grok might seem like a good idea, all it does is pull you down to his level and makes no one look reasonable or sensible here. Lie down with dogs, expect to get fleas, etc.

Whick even gave you the boomer rage moment later with the whole "MY TAXES PAY FOR THEIR SALARY THEY WORK FOR ME" but you could have gotten to that point by continually pushing back on the HIPAA claims without resorting to Grok, and the kill shot for him would have been for you to ask the question, "Do you think, as a liberal, paying someone's salary entitles you to invade their privacy?"
