Dev hates being called bad faith, but says people's arguments for Ruby Ridge being fucked is effectively ACAB? Yeah ok. It's not that people who see Ruby Ridge as bad are sovereign citizen or ACAB types. It's that the gov should not overreach and overreact in such a way that people end up dead for no reason, then try to cover it up. Police doing their job correctly are fine.
An interesting note in all this. Dev has been just seeking out whatever can confirm his initial assumption, even when in this case, it's basically been all but 100% confirmed that is not what happened. Here he's just opting to believe the marshals and their report because appeal to authority/bootlicking/etc.

He made a video, in which he proclaims libertarianism is prone to be subverted by socialism, but never addresses how the long march through the institutions could happen so easily the moment 50s conservatism was eroded by the liberal movement of the 60s.
But sure, libertarianism, which was never in office, would be even worse, because it would... ok.
How a political theory, that is focused on gutting most institutions, is somehow prone to lose said institutions to the enemy, is everyone's guess.

One of the thing I love most about his increasingly unhinged nature is his absolute insistence upon inserting into his normal content. It was him doing so that in a round about way alerted me to his existence as one of my children watched him and asked me for my take on something he said. According to him, Dev never really showed a lot of his terrible takes before but increasingly has brought up his various dramas and terrible takes into his regular content.

Something I've been seeing a lot from Sargon and others is that returning the 90s politics/values wouldn't work because there's nothing stopping the same thing happening again. Okay, but then the solution they propose is returning to 50s nuclear family values, but to me that has the same problem of nothing preventing the same thing from happening again.

Going back to 50s values puts things before the Long March Through the Institutions, and it undoes the damage of Baby Boomers in the 60's, 70's and 80's. It is not perfect or foolproof, you are right on that, but it offers a much MUCH better chance to brave the future without the same mistakes. Unlike going back to the 1990s where you have all that Baby Boomer communist rot already entrenched in several levels of society and academia and metastasizing.

That's fair. The way I see it, the only way to "return to earlier values" would be to change them partially to suit the conditions of the current world. Dev ironically makes the same mistake as Marxists & Neo nazis, you can't just import the world views of these 19th & 20th century German thinkers without the original starting conditions being there as well. If you are unwilling to change your mind, that isn't something intrinsically positive.
Case in point, I'm a fan of enlightened absolutism, but I'm 99% sure the concept of divine kings isn't coming back. Most people are very cynical (with good reason) & morally stunted, so you would have to convince & condition people over 50-100 years to set the ground for it to work.
