Always? I get the very obvious jokes but there are other things in those games that are so funny, but I'm not 100% sure that some of the ridiculous things aren't intended to be badass when viewed with a japanese mindset.
Look, be the Senator Japan thinks you could be is all I'm saying about that.

Saw the thread had updated, thought something exciting had happened, read... this.

V really is a harsh adjustment compared to Dante and Nero. Its not bad, but it definitely sticks out. He's also not coming back (bittersweet since I loved his poetry quoting) since he was you know, Vergil's human half that he sliced from himself using Yamato. I don't really get what the hell happened there. Shouldn't Vergil have been stuck in the demon realm fighting Mundus? When did he get out after booted there by Dante in DMC3?
Wow, that sounds... incredibly stupid story-wise.

Na. Plan was to have V ingratiate himself with Dante and the Gang while his demon half in the form of Urizen the big bad starts doing evil demon shit and sucking up a bunch of power in the form of human blood and souls. Then have the two halves merge back, Vergil finally, hopefully, being strong enough to take down Dante ONCE AND FOR ALL *cue villain laughter*. Works great, but then Dante gets the bright idea to use the sword he inherited from his old man to do the opposite and merge his demon and human halves even closer together, allowing him to draw on a lot more of his own demonic power.

And then Nero somehow manages to go full DT despite having his demonic powers ripped away along with his arm, so things go from bad to worse for Vergil.

Apparently that tree was going to show up regardless. Virgil just ate the human blood fruit and let the tree do it’s thing. So more indirectly killed them.
ok so just any time vergil shows up there's a giant fucking things coming out of the and he just HAPPENS to be there

One might argue he shows up BECAUSE the thing is about to happen and he wants to take advantage of it.

what no he splits himself in half to save himself from his dying human body but his human side thinks it's a really bad idea and is tracking down dante to take down his demon side because urinal wants POWER and is killing people and shit and v also wants to merge back because he is fucking dying nigga

Plus, Dante is a good dancer

My honest answer would have to be Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition, especially because of the huge roster of characters (Well, huge for Devil May Cry anyway.) Now I didn't hate 5 but I admit I was very disappointed to see the roster cut back down again to just 3 characters. Then later 4 when they added Vergil back in. I actually thought Lady was pretty fun to play in DMC4SE even if she needed a bit more ironing out. (Like making her actually viable instead of kind of a meme character. Maybe make her guns actually do damage instead of just being a copy of Dante's pistols?) Also the cameo system should've just been a full on co-op system honestly. Felt that had potential and was a missed opportunity. Maybe they were experimenting for DMC6? Fuck if I know. I hope so. Especially if they bring back the DMC4SE roster. But this is just me coping.

Also V was like the most unfun character to play as. I get what they were going for but he just didn't really fit the series gameplay in my opinion. Straight up every time I was playing as V I was wishing I was playing as Dante or even Nero instead. I don't really know why they thought making V playable was a good idea.
Also on the subject they really need to address the massive power imbalance in the roster. Dante and Vergil are way more powerful than the other characters and thus more fun to play. Now don't get me wrong Nero is definitely more tolerable to play as in 5 and they tried to spice him up with those devil arms but he still sucks. Everything Nero can do Dante can do better. They need to find some kind of hook to make me want to play the other characters that they just haven't quite gotten yet and I ponder if V was some experiment in seeing how a more unique character would be received but they fucked it up.

I think Capcom is/was afraid that people would play Lady and think DMC2. I don't begrudge them for experimenting, remember how the second game killed the series for a while but it eventually rebounded? Imagine if that mistake was made today with DMC5.

Wish they would bring back Lucia, there was so much potential there.

To me Dante and Vergil being OP makes sense. Both characters in their own way have finally realized their full potential, so them being able to curb stomp things while Nero, who is fighting with a handicap and only at the end gets his devil form, is still trying to adapt and needs some time to mature.

Her guns do damage. Her handguns are supposed to be used like Nero's charge shot 3, her shotgun is meant to be her real melee weapon, and Kalina Ann is meant for anything that is knocked down.

The funny thing is apparently according to the wiki she's mentioned in the DMC5 novel or something and it's very heavily implied she has romantic feelings for Dante.
It's not entirely impossible she may return. I mean people thought the original anime was non-canon until Morrison was introduced in DMC5 and Patty made a voice cameo. Though I'm unsure why they retconned Morrison to be black but whatever.

Perhaps DMC6 will feature Dante and Lucia's kid? Yeah, people say Dante would never have kids, but Vergil somehow managed to and he's just as much a turbo autist as his brother.

Morrison is black because of CapCuck.

Lucia was featured in a prequel manga where she and dante take down balrog which is why you start with it in V. Timeline-wise 2 kept getting pushed back instead of retconned and V was the first game to take place after it finally acknowledging it again. It does make one continuity error with 4 being between 1/2 because Dante's "darker" mood in 2 was written to be due to depression from Vergil's death in 1.

Of course none of this matters who cares about the story in DMC especially after how bad 5's writing was.

I mean the story has never really been the reason people play DMC it's more of a bonus than anything.

Honestly 5's problem was putting too much of the actual storyline into a prequel manga instead of the actual damn game.
