You can't get the full resolution versions of the pictures this way. Also, some deviations can have a different file from the thumbnail altogether, like a zip file or a flash animation, iirc.
These fuckers will complain about every single minute thing imaginable. The DA-app was total fucking garbage. It crashed if you opened a notification, it didn’t let you show anything specific like earnings, it was graphically buggy. It depends if the artist/uploader clicked the original resolution preview option or left it at a lower resolution. They can choose from around 720p to 1080p in terms of thumbnails or else the full image. Often, downloads do include something else than the image, which you’d often find with literature or, as you said, flash stuff.
