Because AI, it really hones in on the "not quite Loud House" look for 2d characters. My guess is that a large chunk of the AI autists are also Loud House fans that use it to generate "fan art" that they can't make themselves because they draw worse than Chris Chan.

The biggest problem with AI is undisciplined hacks who can't otherwise function, pushing out media without possessing the character that would traditionally be required to bring art to fruition. In the past, making something presentable necessitated a high level of care, which is why so many famous creatives are either incredibly put-together or slightly crazy. It takes serious dedication to make something work, and the virtues that allowed a project's completion bled into the messages of said media. Now, anyone can type a prompt and get something that looks professional out of an algorithm, so we're left inundated with works that have no substance.

Not so much, the world at large and the web specifically were more sincere
Both sincerity and irony has existed then as well as not, but the former is much less common than the latter now whereas on the smaller internet less aware of the fact that someone is constantly looking, following and laughing at everything, people felt less of a need to be disingenuous

It's coincidental. The iceberg meme points out that Archibald the Asparagus is, as much as it is possible for a literal vegetable with a face, somebody like Onceler or Willy Wonka that fits the "tumblr sexyman" formula: a lean, effete man with a sharp fashion sense.
