For comparison, (the true & honest) DX1 from 2000 can run on as little as 150 MB, and even the highest recommended amount of space is still under 1 GB I do believe.

I guess it could be worse, for example like the gap in storage requirements between the original Oblivion (4.6 GB) and the recent remaster (125 GB). But that's not saying all that much, optimization is truly a lost art nowadays.

A game where the president is worthless, the US is setting up false flags, UNATCO is corrupt, everything's ruled by AI and techbros?

Did we play the same game?
"I played as a Black JC Denton with a white man's voice and had a panic attack."

"Can someone make a mod to make Paul white so I can leave that mf to die and not feel guilty?"

"How do I get on the damn boat?"

On 2nd thoughts... I thought this might be gay but multiplayer was cool so if they change engines and we get some mods for multiplayer there might actually be a benefit to this remaster. Plus people could build much better remasters and mods and shiet nigga.

Just play Peripeteia instead of that coal ass remake.

that's a nope from me, i'll just go play the original instead.

this reads like they got the contract as the lowest bidder to do the remaster and then just ran out of money before they could do anything meaningful

at best, i want slightly modernized controls. mods could fix the rest (probably).

Joke aside, I'm mixed opinion how this will go down. Asypr has done some good remasters in the past (Soul Reaver, SW Bounty Hunter, Tomb Raider 1-3), but also had some duds that came out of the oven too quickly. Obviously both Asypr and Crystal Dynamics have a partnership since they did many of their prior game remasters. I'm still a bit optimistic that at the very least they'll have a visual toggle, much like they had for their SR and TR remasters. The trailer in general seems to have been hastily put together and the models are the worst offender.
The entire franchise is on sale on Steam for a whopping 10USD by the way. You can get the original for a literal dollar.
This is a great visual overhaul mod btw. And 100x better than what Asypr showed off.

It's one of the classics.

It looks equally shitty graphics wise as that GTA San Andreas remaster.
Meanwhile, the 2005 PC version with two decades worth of modding community efforts later:

It's pretty amazing how useless the industry is. Fans of these games are doing a better job than them just because they like the games, but the braindead suits running the company are physically unable to understand this nature of video games as a product and treat it like it's movies.

Whaaaaat?

Looks like ABSOLUTE SHIT :story:
Just gonna say that the best example of a game's art style getting modernized with graphical improvements while retaining its unique style is King's Field 4, and Dark Souls 2. From Software in general has done a great job at retaining it's visual style but specifically DS2 is a perfect upgrade from KF4.

I'm honestly less pessimistic about this remaster than most people I think. The original definitely looks better, but I do appreciate the attempt, in contrast to how the Oblivion remaster just completely ignored how the original game looked and instead was a hyper-saturated mess. I do understand people making fun of it though. I don't understand why these companies feel like its so necessary to remake games when in reality people would like to play the original, just with no compatibility issues. If you put Deus Ex on the PS5 with no graphical updates whatsoever, and no changes besides controller support, it'd sell like hotcakes.

I never got around to playing DX, Here's how i see this playing out.

1. Horeseshit studio releases an ai upscaled game.
2. The enormous fan community of DX patches the shit out of it and makes it better than ever all while calling the upscale studio a bunch of Faggots.

win-win as a new player.
