Now the question is, will they allow private servers to exist? And will they close the game down with it being playable offline.
I'm not sure what you mean? Destiny 1 is still up and running strong right now(12 years after release). Destiny 2 will most likely get the same treatment until D3 is released or until Sony decides it no longer wants it to exist. I guess years from now it could be made into a playable offline state, but that would break so much of the game that it's honestly not worth the effort.

Speaking of destiny 1, I've found not only does it seem to have a stable population but a growing one. I decided to go back and start offering sherpa raids (think guided tour/teacher if you don't play) to new and returning players and it never takes more than a few minutes to get a group together. I wonder what kind of message it would send to Sony if D1 had a higher concurrent player count than D2/Marathon. If nothing else it's fun to see others get excited for drops, and probably chaps Nu-Bungos ass.

Making an entire Star Wars DLC and pretending its canon was the death rattled "we don't know what the fuck to do anymore, lets try being Fortnite" last breath before diving into the grave.

Game got turned into slop over time, infested with faggotry and trannies. The game engine was shitty and outdated so the devs started deleted original paid content in order to support the addition of new content, game got super stale and repetitive and eventually lost most of its playerbase. Bungie stopped giving a shit about Destiny and focused on Marathon, only for both games to be dead and gay lmao
Deleting content people had already paid for was the tipping point for me personally. Every MMO has its problems and periods of shit development. I could deal with occasionally bunk DLCs and bad grind because the game despite its flaws was enjoyable.

I could not handle logging in one day and finding out all the shit I paid for was just deleted (or, "vaulted", in modern politically correct bullshit-speak.) How do you continue to financially support a company that has set the precedent that they will arbitrarily take things away from you after you've paid for them?
Now the question is, will they allow private servers to exist? And will they close the game down with it being playable offline.
My friend, you are in $CURRENT_YEAR Triple A territory. Companies like Bungie would literally ritually sacrifice all of their employees before they ever let you run private servers. Nobody is allowed to play with their ball without them.

imagine if there was a single heterosexual man left at bungie, and he were to leak the d2 source....
imagine it for a second - a d2 that isnt dogshit. if im honest i cant quite wrap my head around the concept.
Zorry Xur but we literally deleted all the Whiteman code and it's not compatible with our C+QIA+ language

I joke but Bungie said they don't have the files anymore so it's impossible to recover and re-release sunset content from raids to planets
